Chapter 54 A Frightening Discovery

She might have lacked experience with intimacy, but she wasn’t completely naive. If David didn’t have. feelings for her, how could he have reacted like that?

Men, whether they were sweet–talking or coldly dismissive in bed, couldn’t be trusted at all!

Quickly grabbing her clothes from the floor, Caroline shipped them on without much care. She decided she’d better sleep in the guest room. Sharing a bed with David felt like a death sentence.

Reaching the door, she grabbed the handle and tried to open it.

“Huh? Why isn’t it opening?” She pulled at it several times, but it wouldn’t budge.

“Is it broken?” she muttered. “What kind of cheap quality is this?”

“It’s locked,” came David’s voice from behind her, startling her.

Turning around, she saw him standing there, wearing only a towel. His skin glistened with droplets, and his damp hair added to the sight of his defined chest and eight–pack abs.

Why does he always come out half–naked?Sure, his body was impressive, buti couldn’t care less.

“Locked?” Caroline asked. “Did Mom do this?”

“Who else?”

“She… fine. Caroline sighed. “Does this mean we can’t sleep in separate rooms anymore?”

Her eyes darted around the room as an idea came to her.

She rearranged the sofa, brought over a blanket, and turned it into a makeshift bed. It wasn’t spacious, but it was enough for one person to lie down.

“There, all set,” she said, clapping her hands. “Time to sleep.”

She scooted aside to make room.

David, however, stood still, not moving an inch.

After a moment of silence, he said, “You expect me to sleep on the sofa?”

“Do you want me, a woman, to sleep there instead?”

His expression hardened. “Caroline, I’ll give you one more chance to rethink this.”

David had never faced such treatment before. The very idea was absurd to him.

“Fine, Caroline muttered. “I’ll sleep there.”

Climbing onto the sofa, she wrapped herself in the blanket and turned away from him, shutting her eyes

David stood there, glaring, resisting the urge to drag het off and toss her out!

Caroline arrived at Ellison Group early, being the first in the research department. Guilt lingered over her absence the previous day.

When she saw Boris, she quickly approached him to apologize. “Mr. Boris, I’m really sorry. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, so I…”

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Boris replied casually.

“Huh?”

Lowering his voice, Boris said, “David’s been holding back for so long. It’s no surprise things got intense.”

Caroline was speechless. What’s going on in his head?I had fainted from low blood sugar! Didn’t David explain properly when he called in?

“Oh, and by the way,” Boris added, “Your friend Anna started yesterday. You’re coworkers now. Do your best, both of you. I have high hopes for you.”

“Thank you, Mr. Boris. I’ll work hard.”

Shortly after, Anna arrived,

“Caroline!” she exclaimed, running over to hug her. “I can’t believe we both got into Ellison Group. This is amazing! How did you pull this off?”

“It doesn’t matter, Anna. What matters is that we work hard together. Let’s focus on developing great products and aim to create a nationally renowned skincare and beauty brand.”

During her lunch break, Caroline went to the restroom

She froze when she saw a streak of red on her underwear.
