âNot even a hug? Boris asked, raising an eyebrow. âYouâre that stingy? Iâm talking about a purely professional, totally innocent gesture of camaraderie.â
âGet o

Boris shrugged. âAlright, alright. Mrs. Ellison, once youâve soothed Mr. Ellisonâs mood, head to HR to finalize your paperwork. From now on, any workârelated matters go through me. Iâm your direct supervisor.â
âJust call me Caroline,â she replied. âSince you hold mean such high regard, Mr. Boris, Iâll give it my all.â
âPerfect. Boris snapped his fingers, looking relaxed and pleased.
As he reached the door, he suddenly turned back and asked, âHow exactly do you plan to soothe Mr. Ellison? Like what you were doing in the car earlier?â
Carolineâs face instantly turned beet red.
So Boris had been the one knocking on the car window and he saw everything!

Then, as if just noticing Caroline, she gasped in mock surprise. âOh, Caroline, youâre here too!â
Caroline rolled her eyes.
Elizabeth had clearly run right past her. There was no way she hadnât seen her unless she was blind.
Butâ¦
Perfect! An idea flashed through Carolineâs mind. She picked up where sheâd left off. âOtherwise, people- might think sheâs the mistress, and youâre the cheating husband!â
The atmosphere froze. David and Elizabethâs expressions turned downright ugly.

Caroline didnât care. She turned on her heel and bolted
