Caroline didn’t have to wait long before she heard a man’s voice–deep, rough, and unmistakable.

She listened carefully, her heartbeat quickening.

It didn’t take much to recognize it. That’s Andrew!

She couldn’t make out the exact conversation, but his voice was impossible to miss.

And Elizabeth? She was giggling, her tone playful and sweet.

A man and a woman, alone together, whispering and laughing–what exactly was happening behind that door?

Was the scene inside as scandalous as she suspected? Were they wrapped up in each other’s arms, indulging in their affair? Had they already crossed the line?

Caroline’s pulse pounded, but she forced herself to wait.

If Andrew was simply visiting Elizabeth without any obvious intimacy, rushing in now would be useless.

She needed clear-cut evidence. So she waited.

Pressing herself against the door, she listened closely, holding her breath.

Inside, their conversation continued-

“I’m going to sleep. You should leave.”

“What, just tossing me out now?”

“Aww, come on, I’m exhausted. Stop being annoying.”

“Let me kiss you just once-”

“Stop that!”

That’s it! Caroline acted immediately, grabbing the door handle and bursting into the room.

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, knowing she might be walking in on something scandalous, the scene before her still left her utterly stunned.

Andrew and Elizabeth were lying together on the narrow hospital bed, partially covered by a blanket. Elizabeth’s shirt had been pushed up to her waist.

Caroline’s breath caught. My God… Nash was right! They really are sleeping together!

Her eyes widened as she took slow, deliberate steps inside.

“You two…”

She could barely find the words.

One was David’s brother.

The other was David’s lover, pregnant with his supposed child.

And here they were–betraying him together.

Andrew and Elizabeth froze.

For a few seconds, no one moved.

Then, as realization dawned, panic set in.

Elizabeth’s face went ghostly pale, her hands trembling.

Andrew reacted first, scrambling out of bed, practically tripping over himself as he tried to throw his clothes on. But it was far too late.

Caroline’s voice rang out, sharp and unforgiving. “Unbelievable! You two were sneaking around this whole time, and now you’ve been caught in the act!”

Andrew, still fumbling with his shirt, stammered, “Y–you–You’re mistaken!”

“Mistaken?” Caroline laughed bitterly. “I saw everything!”

Elizabeth shook her head frantically. “No! Caroline, you don’t understand–we were just―”

“Just what?” Caroline cut her off. “Just lying in bed half–dressed, having a deep conversation?”

Elizabeth opened her mouth, but Andrew’s urgent voice cut through the tension. “Don’t explain anything! Hold her back! I need to get out of here!” His gaze flickered to the door. “She’s alone. Even if she saw us, she has no real proof. As long as we deny it, we’ll be fine!”

“Okay, okay!” Elizabeth snapped back into action.

Before Caroline could react, Elizabeth lunged, gripping her arms tightly.

“Go! I’ll keep her here!” Elizabeth yelled. “Just run!”

Caroline struggled, her voice ice–cold. “I saw everything! You think you can get away with this? You’re finished!”

The two women grappled, locked in a fierce struggle, neither willing to back down.
