Harperâs eyes filled with excitement. âSo⦠will I hear good news this year?â
Caroline couldnât even meet her gaze. She lowered her head slightly, her eyes stinging with emotion.

âYes,â David replied. âMom, just wait for the good news.â
Harper beamed, her face lighting up with pure joy.
âGood, good! Alright, itâs getting late. I should head home now. You two should rest early.â
Caroline looked at her. âMom, Iâll walk you out.â
âSee? Caroline is so thoughtful,â Harper said with a chuckle. âAnd you-â she nudged David-âstanding there like a statue! David, come on, donât tell me youâre going to let Caroline send me off by herself?â
