âMr. Ellison, thereâs a social dinner tonight. Will you attend, or should it be canceled?â
David glanced at the time.

He figured Caroline would be working late tonight, so there was no reason for him to leave work early.
If he waited for her, heâd only become a hopeless romantic, waiting for his wife.
Besides, he wasnât used to being alone at the Ellison residence anymore.
It wasnât a good sign, but David couldnât control his heart.
âIâll go,â David replied. âNo need to cancel.â
âUnderstood, Mr. Ellison.â
As the night fell, David appeared in the luxurious, exquisite highâend restaurant
He wore a simple white shirt and black trousers, clean and neat, with no tie, effortlessly casual. Yet his elegance and composure were enough to make him stand out in the crowd.
âMr. Ellison, this way.â
The waitstaff were all on high alert, doing their best to serve this important figure.
At the entrance of the private room, someone had already been waiting to greet him.
David walked in without
to either side, all eyes following him.
In the distance, Elizabeth saw this and nervously clenched her fist.
In her palm, there was a packet of medicine.
This was the most important thing for tonight!
Elizabeth wore a serverâs uniform, changed her hairstyle, and looked nearly unrecognizable.
She planned to take advantage of this dinner to win David over, to become his woman!
She couldnât wait any longer. Though it was a risky move and could easily fail. But, she had to try no matter what.
If David ever took an interest in her, by then Caroline would have already had the baby!
âStay alert, everyone,â the manager said as he walked over to the servers. âThe person in that private room is very important. We must provide excellent service, or our restaurant could be ruined.â
Elizabeth blended in among the servers.
âWhen you enter the private room, donât talk unnecessarily, donât let your eyes wander. Focus on your work, and donât listen to anything happening inside,â the manager instructed. âAlways keep the guests in mind.â

âUnderstood, sir.â
The private room had ordered many dishes, each expensive and carefully prepared.
Elizabeth picked up the onion soup.
Finished
She knew Davidâs taste. He didnât like spicy, fishy, or strong flavors. He didnât touch seafood much and preferred light dishes..
Among all the food, she was sure David would drink at least a few sips of the soup.
Moreover, putting the medicine in the soup would make it nearly undetectable.
It was a gamble, but then again, everything tonight was a gamble!
When she entered the private room, Elizabeth lowered her head, afraid to glance at Davidâs seat in case he recognized her.
There was a faint smell of alcohol in the air.
Someone said, âMr. Ellison, itâs an honor to have you drink tonight. Truly, I am honored.â
âThe wine is good.â
Elizabeth felt a bit pleased as alcohol would work in her favor!
She stood at the far end of the table, far from the main seat, gently placing the soup on the table, then quickly glanced at David before turning and walking out.
Though it was only a glance, she saw the slight daze in Davidâs eyes.
Looks like Mr. Ellisonâs had quite a bit to drink tonight!
What pleased her even more was that when she closed the door, she heard someone say, âMr. Ellison, this onion soup is the specialty of this restaurant. You should try it, itâs very delicious. Let me serve you some.â
