David cast a brief glance at the files and gave a curt nod. “Mm.”

Without another word, William discreetly exited the room, closing the door behind him.

With a sharp snap, he tossed the file aside and leaned back in his chair.

The rhythmic tapping on the door was soon followed by Boris strolling in.

“Mr. Ellison, it’s quite the challenge getting a meeting with you these days,” Boris remarked, pulling out a chair and settling in. “What’s keeping you so busy?”

David didn’t even lift his gaze.

Boris continued, undeterred. “You disappearing is one thing, but Caroline vanishing along with you? What kind of game are you two playing? Off on some romantic escapade?”

“Get to the point.”

“Well, I came for your signature.” Boris slid a document across the desk. “Caroz’s products have passed all quality checks. We’re ready for launch, marketing, and full–scale distribution. That alcohol burn incident has been handled. It was just an accident.”

Only then did David lazily open his eyes and sign the papers with swift, fluid strokes.

Caroz. Why did I even agree to this name back, then? Now, the more I see it, the more I like it.

Boris studied him, a smirk playing at his lips. “Dark circles under your eyes, looking completely drained… Well, Mr. Ellison, this is what happens when you overindulge. You should really pace yourself. You’ve got the entire Ellison Group and the Ellison family on your shoulders, you can’t afford to burn yourself out so

“Well, a man in love…” Boris sighed. “Who was it again that used to be so stubborn? Swearing up and down that he’d never fall for Caroline? That even if every woman on earth vanished, he still wouldn’t spare her a glance?”

Boris had expected him to deny it again.

To his complete shock, David merely nodded.

“That was me. I’ll take it all back.”

Boris froze, his jaw nearly hitting the floor.

“Wait, David, you… you’re actually admitting it? Just like that? Throwing your own words out the window this fast?”

“I admit it.” David leaned back in his chair, arms crossed lazily. “I’ve fallen for her.”
