Chapter 202 Not Wanting to Save Her Child
The muffled sounds grew clearer in an instant.
âDo you hear that?â Juliaâs voice was eerily calm. âItâs Caroline. Sheâs with me.â
Nashâs eyes widened in shock. âJulia! What⦠What the hell are you doing? You took Caroline? Where are you?â
âIâm at a hospital.â
âWhich one? Send me the address! Iâm coming right now!â
Julia let out a soft, almost wistful laugh. âItâs pointless, Nash. Sheâs carrying your child. How could I just stand by and do nothing? Itâs your own flesh and blood, and I understand why you canât bring yourself to do what needs to be done. No parent would ever harm their own child. But Caroline refuses to get rid of it, so that leaves me to do what no one else will. Itâs for the best, for you, for Mr. Ellison, and even for Caroline. Donât you see? Once the baby is gone, everyone wins. Iâll take the blame. I donât mind. Iâd do anything for you, Nash. I know youâll hate me for it now, but one day, youâll realize I did this for you.â
Nashâs grip on his phone tightened. His pulse roared in his ears. âJulia, listen to me. Calm down. Donât do anything reckless! Let Caroline go right now! Do you hear me?â
âLet her go?â Julia scoffed. âAfter everything I did to get her here? No, Nash. Not until I finish what I started. Sheâs not walking away from this.â
Her laughter grew louder, unhinged, sending a chill down Nashâs spine.
âJuliaâ¦â
âI have to go now,â she cut him off, her voice dripping with finality. âOnce this is over, Iâll find you.â
âNo, donât hang up!â Nashâs voice cracked with desperation. âYouâve got it all wrong. Caroline isnât even carrying my child! Do you hear me? Julia, let her go!â
A brief silence. Then a bitter chuckle.
âYouâd say anything to protect her, wouldnât you?â Julia murmured. âEven lie like this.â
âIâm not lying, Julia! Caroline and I never⦠nothing happened between us! If you donât believe me, askâMr. Ellison! Heâs right beside me!â
Nash turned to David, his eyes pleading, silently begging him to confirm the truth.
But David hesitated. Just for two seconds.
And in those two seconds, Julia ended the call.
She had heard enough. Her mind was set, and nothing Nash said would change that.
She knew exactly what she was doing, and she knew the consequences.
But she felt no regret.

Carolineâs pregnancy? And why the hell does she think the baby is mine? Who told her? Did she
herself? What the hell is going on?â
He had been the supposed buyer, yet somehow, he was the last to know anything.
Frantically, he redialed Juliaâs number, but the call went unanswered again and again.
A crushing sense of helplessness settled over him.
Nash turned to David, his voice sharp with fury. âWhy didnât you say anything just now? Why?â
Davidâs reply was measured, almost indifferent. âJulia wonât kill Caroline. She doesnât have it in her.â
Her target wasnât Caroline, it was the child.
Nash stared at him, his chest rising and falling with ragged breaths. And then, suddenly, a bitter, humorless laugh escaped him.
âI get it now,â he said, his voice laced with venom. âYou stayed silent on purpose. You wanted to stall. You donât want to save Carolineâs child, and youâre counting on Julia to do your dirty work for you.â
