Chapter 17 Madam Harper and Mr Richard Got Into an Argument
In order to protect the child, Caroline had no choice but to lie through her teeth.
She could only deceive for the moment.
David squinted, his entire body emanating a dangerous aura.
âCaroline,â his voice was incredibly deep, âAre you playing with me?â
âYou never gave me the chance to explain, you just grabbed my neck right away.â
âAnd now youâre blaming me?â
Caroline shook her head. âI donât dare. I hope you understand that I donât want to and wonât bear your children. I just want a quick divorce and to move out of the Ellison residence.â
Her attitude greatly displeased David.
âWhether we divorce or not is my decision,â he said, lifting his chin. âI decide when we get a divorce! Itâs not for you to decide!â
Then he ripped up the pregnancy test result.
âGo to the hospital now,â David ordered. âYou, get a fullâbody checkup again.â
He had to confirm with his own eyes that Caroline was not pregnant!
He wouldnât trust just her words.
Caroline bit her lower lip, her palms sweating.
If they went to the hospital, everything would be exposed, and both she and the child would be doomed.
But if she refused to go, David would only grow more suspicious.
Just as Caroline was racking her brain for a solution, Paul suddenly entered, looking hurried. âSir, thereâs been a situation with the Ellison family⦠You should go check it out as soon as possible.â
âWhat happened?â
âMadam Harper went to the Ellison family, it seems like itâs because of your marriage⦠she and Mr. Richard got into a heated argument, it has become quite tense,â Paul reported. âI donât know the full details.â
Davidâs brows furrowed deeply.
Harper had never been accepted by the Ellison family. For years, she had lived a modest life in an orphanage, but now that David had control of the Ellison family, Harper was finally able to hold her head
But Harper was always kindâhearted, lowâkey, and never one to cause trouble.
âReady the car,â David stood up, his gaze falling on Careline. âYouâre coming too.â

Chapter 17 Madam Harper and Mr Richard Got Into a Argument
Since the elders were arguing over this marriage, both parties involved should be present.
Caroline nodded.
Finished
Though she had no idea what to expect at the Ellison familyâs house, it had to be better than going to the hospital!
At the Ellison familyâs residence.
The atmosphere in the living room was very tense. Richardâs face was grim, and Harperâs expression was also tight.
David stepped in. âMom, Grandpa.â
Caroline stood behind him, her head lowered. Her hair fell around her face, covering most of it, leaving her unrecognizable, quiet, and almost invisible.
She knew that she had no place to speak here.
Harper quickly glanced at her but didnât pay much attention or recognize her.
âDavid,â Harper said, âThis marriage was arranged when you were unconscious and disoriented. Now that youâre awake, things are different, and naturally, we should discuss it again, right?â
Richard snorted. âWhat youâre saying is clearly directed at me. This marriage was entirely arranged and decided by me. If you divorce, isnât that slapping my face and embarrassing me?â
âDude, is your face more important, or Davidâs lifelong happiness?â
âThe girl married him when he had nothing and was on the brink of death, with no complaints. Now that Davidâs in power, do you just want to kick her out? As the saying goes, a wife who shared in the hardships shouldnât be discarded once fortune arrives!â
Harper responded, âDavid hasnât even touched her. Give her some compensation and let her go free, thatâs not unfair.â
Richard retorted, âWhat can money compensate her for?â
The two argued fiercely, neither willing to back down.
In the end, it was David who interrupted, âEnough!â
