Roger inhaled sharply at the sight and grabbed Andrew’s wrist to stop him.

“What are you doing?”

“Roger, should I just let Madelyn go?”

“What?”

“The idiot Elijah raised was useless, but she still can’t move on from him. If I send her abroad, can that loser really take care of her?”

Andrew thought Easton was nothing more than a worthless coward. After all, the latter would even tremble at just a cold look from him. Andrew couldn’t understand why someone as promising as Madelyn, whom he had personally nurtured, would settle for someone like Easton,

Roger stared at Andrew in disbelief.

“Could you bring yourself to do so?”

Andrew grew more irritable.

in pushed Roger’s hand away to take several more swigs from his bottle.

Seeing Andrew’s reaction, Roger guessed it was related to this morning’s events. Knowing that Madelyn had a way of sweet–talking Andrew, Roger had kept quiet. But now it seemed Madelyn hadn’t explained anything, or maybe Andrew’s distrust had made her angry, too.

Without a second thought, Roger snatched the empty bottle from Andrew’s hand.

“Enough. Stop drinking!”

“If she wants to be with Easton, fine! I’ll let her go! She’s such an ungrateful brat. Why should I care?”

Roger was at a loss for words. Looking at the empty bottle in his hand, he sighed and pulled out his phone to show Andrew a photo of Easton curled up on the ground, looking pathetic.

Andrew frowned but didn’t take the phone.

“What’s this?”

“See for yourself,” Roger said.

Andrew glanced at Roger, then down at the photo. Easton was clutching his bruised face with both hands. Andrew was perplexed.

“Who did this to him?”

“Ask Maddie.”

Roger took the phone back. He wondered if Andrew had genuinely been moping all day without hearing Madelyn’s side of the story.

Just mentioning Madelyn made Andrew’s breathing more labored.

Roger took a deep breath and added, “She roughed him up pretty badly.”

“She did?”

“You didn’t know? It happened this morning at the hospital entrance. She might look delicate, but she’s got a fierce side. She nearly took Easton out.”

Andrew looked stunned. The anger in his eyes faded, replaced by a complex mix of guilt and surprise.

Roger couldn’t resist teasing him at the sight of Andrew’s sudden change.

“You’re really going to let Maddie end up with that coward?”

“No way!” Andrew replied as he headed for the door.

Roger threw the empty bottle aside and caught up with Andrew.

“What are you doing? Don’t tell me you’re planning to drive after downing a bottle!”

Roger knew Madelyn’s studio was right next to Andrew’s office building. He pondered if Andrew had left Madelyn there and returned on his own. Roger suspected that Andrew was now feeling guilty from that.

Andrew rubbed his temples and tossed the car keys to Roger.

“You drive.”

Roger took the keys, but before they could leave, bright headlights shone outside. Madelyn’s Bugatti had already pulled in.

Roger smirked.

“It looks Hke she’s back to settle the score.”

After handing the keys back to Andrew, Roger quickly made his exit as he did not want to get caught up in Madelyn’s fury.
