Chapter 197
By the time Madelyn reached the underground parking lot, she saw Andrewâs car speed away like a bullet, leaving behind a cloud of acrid exhaust.
Her face darkened involuntarily.
Rowan appeared just in time to catch Madelynâs frustrated expression. While he didnât like watching her argue with Andrew, he couldnât help but feel a twinge of satisfaction seeing Andrew leave her behind.
After all, she had been such a dramaâ queen before. Andrew forgave her too quickly, which seemed unfair.
Madelynâs tone turned icy when she noticed Rowanâs struggle to stifle a laugh.
âAre you enjoying this?â
Rowan shrugged.
âI think youâre mistaken.â
Madelyn was now certain that Andrew was genuinely angry and had probably been upset since the morning.
She glared at Rowan.
âWhy is he mad?â
Rowan replied, âIf you donât know, how should I?â
âYouâre reallyâ¦â Madelyn fumed, at a loss for words.
She regretted not leaving Rowan stranded in that desert forever.
She wondered why she allowed someone like him to return to taunt her.
Rowan genuinely didnât know why Andrew was angry, but upon seeing Madelynâs confusion, he offered, Do you want me to help you figure it out?â
âWhy would you be so kind?â Madelyn questioned, skeptical.
Since she married Andrew, Rowan had been resentful and would have relished seeing Andrew walk away. She questioned his intentions to help her out.
Noticing her doubt, Rowan dropped his playful facade and said thoughtfully, âBecause you helped Andrew before. Iâll return the favor.â
He was referring to the incident at the Lotivale warehouse. Rowan hadnât expected Madelyn to be so stubborn back then. If Elijah had succeeded that day, Madelyn and Andrewâs relationship would have ended.
That was when Rowan started to believe Madelyn genuinely wanted to be with Andrew and wasnât simply putting on an act.
Madelyn shook her head.
âNo need.â
She had a pretty good idea why Andrew was mad. Her priority was to calm him down, and her second was to tear Easton apart.
She turned and walked to her car. Fortunately, she had driven herself that day. Otherwise, she would have had to call a cab. Despite Andrew being mad at her, she still felt wronged since heâd simply left her behind.

After taking several steps, Madelyn remembered something and turned back to Rowan.
âBy the way, locate Easton for me.â
âYouâre still going to meet him?â Rowan asked with a grim expression.
Given how angry Andrew was, Rowan could guess why
After all, Andrew only lost his cool about things when it came to Madelyn and Easton..
Madelynâs eyes blazed.
âIâm going to kill him!â
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Rowan stunned. It was clear now that Madelyn and Easton were truly over. Her fierce determination spoke volumes.
Earlier, when Andrew said he wanted Easton in jail, Rowan had known it was a decision made in a moment of rage. They needed to completely root out Elijahâs group, so he hadnât followed Andrewâs order.
Madelyn was now asking about Easton, Rowan didnât know where Easton was but thought that letting her handle the latter first might be a good call.
Andrew returned to Serenity Villa with his demeanor as cold as ice.
Roger had been waiting for half an hour.
Seeing Andrew return alone, he hesitated before asking, âWhereâs Maddie?â
The mention of Madelyn only darkened Andrewâs expression further. Ignoring Rogerâs question, he went straight to the liquor cabinet, grabbed an open bottle, and took several gulps straight from it, bypassing the glass entirely.
