Chapter 184

âOkay,â Madelyn replied to Andrew.
She quickly gathered her things and headed downstairs. Most of her colleagues had already left for lunch.
Andrewâs car was waiting for her in the underground garage, so she walked over to the adjacent building and got in.
As soon as she settled into the car, Andrew pulled her into his arms.
âHow was your first day at work? Did everything go okay?â
âDarling, you didnât even mention I needed to bring a résumé,â Madelyn complained.
Andrew lifted her onto his lap.
âWhatâs wrong? Did something upset you? Should I fire Jessie?â
âNo! Itâs fine,â she reassured him.
So, the stern vice presidentâs name was Jessie. Madelyn hadnât been offended, but she was unsettled for a moment.
It wasnât intentional. She was just used to turning to Andrew when things didnât go smoothly.
Andrew gently stroked her head.
âYou say youâre fine, but that pout says otherwise. Tell me. What would make you feel better?â
âCould we go to Moonlit Restaurant? Do we have time?
âWe do. If you want it, Iâll have it arranged. Weâll get there just in time.â
âGreat.â
She was craving Moonlit Restaurantâs beef stew.
Andrew instructed Rowan accordingly, ensuring her favorite beef stew
was prepared. The restaurant was renowned for its beef stew, especially for its tender, wellâcooked meat. Madelyn always enjoyed it. Andrew then asked her about her morning.
âJessie spent the whole morning interviewing candidates. Since we donât have any clients yet, there wasnât much for me to do.â
âWhat department are you in?â
âThe design department!â
âYou know how to design?â
Andrew clicked his tongue. He was genuinely surprised as he hadnât realized she had that skill.
He knew she had been admitted to Klago University based on her merits. She excelled academically. graduating with a degree in architecture but having never held a job before.
He found it curprising that she had the skills to impress Jessie, who was notoriously particular, to place an inexperienced newble in the design department.
Sensing his disbelief, Madelyn retorted, âWhat? You think I canât handle it?â
âItâs not that. Do you need my help since you donât have any clients yet?â Andrew offered.
Chap 184
Design work was strenuous, with countless draft revisions and long hours. Andrew wondered if Madelyn could cope and persist if he helped her secure clients.
Unexpectedly, Madelyn replied, âNo need. I trust Jessieâs abilities. Sheâll have clients lined up soon enough.â
After all, she wasnât managing the company herself. There were always others to take care of such
matters.
Andrew was surprised by her lack of urgency.
At Moonlit Restaurant, Lily Turner, the owner, personally greeted Andrew and Madelyn. Madelyn found Lily familiar but couldnât quite place where she had seen her before.
After Lily left, Andrew patted Madelynâs head again..
âWhy didnât you say hello to Lily? Donât you remember her?â
Andrew recalled what Derrick had said about Madelynâs condition when he saw her confused look. It seemed that the intracranial bleeding had indeed caused her to forget many things.
âHave I met Lily before?â
âYou spent ten years at the Miller residence, eating the food she prepared. Do you remember?â
Madelyn was stunned that she had forgotten something that had happened for over ten years.
A sense of emptiness grew within her. She had always felt like she had forgotten something important but could never quite figure it out.
Hearing Andrew mention someone who had been with her for ten years in the Miller residence made her realize that she might have forgotten many significant people and events in her life.
