Ultrasound and Telling the Family

(September 13th 2009) Mira's POV

It's time for my sixteen week ultrasound appointment. Matt is meeting me at the hospital at 10. We'll then had lunch afterwards. Before I go home to tell Elena and Jeremy about the baby. Matt will tell Vicki also. By Monday, it'll be all over the school.

"You sure you don't want me to come?" Jenna asks me.

"I'll be fine, besides Matt will be there. Just make sure Elena and Jeremy are home at 12:30" I tell her. She nods her head. I left and drove to the hospital. I park in the guest car park and head to the front desk. "Hi, Mira Gilbert. I have an ultrasound at 10:15" I tell the person.

"Take the elevator, first floor. Go left" he tells me. As Mat appears.

"Ready?" I ask him. He nods his head. I lead the way to the elevator and we go in. I press the number one button. We arrive on the first floor and head down the left corridor. Until we reach other reception desk.

"Take a seat" the nurse tells us. We nod and do so. I notice several other expectant parents. One girl looked read to give birth, another looks very nervous, this must be her first appointment and the last pair had a toddler.

"This is weird" Matt mutters.

"It is a little, but if the baby is in the right position. We'll find out the gender" I tell him with a smile.

"Really?" he asks and I nod my head. "Thought of any girl names?" he asks me.

"Nope" I say sheepishly.

"We'll brainstorm if it is a girl over lunch" he tells me. I nod my head.

"Thanks for being here" I tell him.

"I'm the dad" he states. "So are you sure about telling our siblings?" he asks me.

"Yes, besides I won't be able to hide it much longer" I tell him gesturing to my baby bump. He nods his head in understanding. "Man, I am going to be labelled a sl*t" I groan.

"No, you won't" he tells me.

"I slept with my sister's ex-boyfriend and got pregnant" I tell him.

"We were drunk, don't let what anyone says get to you. We know the truth along with our family and friends. As long as we have them on our side, the rest of the school can go to hell" he tells me. I smile and lean my head on his shoulder.

"How did I get such an amazing friend?" I ask him.

"Just lucky I guess" he says with a smile.

"Mira Gilbert" a doctor calls. Matt and I get up, we head over. The doctor leads us to an exam room. I sit on the bed while Matt sits on a spare chair beside me. "So how have you been since your last visit?" she asks me.

"Had terrible morning sickness last night, otherwise I've been fine. I told Matt. Speaking of, Matt this is Dr Lang and Dr Lang this is Matt Donovan. The father of my baby" I say introducing the pair.

"Pleasure to meet you Matt, glad you could join us" Dr Lang says.

"Happy to be here" Matt states.

"Any cravings?" Dr Lang asks me.

"Hot chocolate" I tell her and she chuckles.

"Lets have a look at that baby of yours, shall we?" she asks me. I nod and lay back lifting my shirt to reveal my baby bump. She places the gel on my stomach and turns on the ultrasound machine. She moves the wand around and soon finds the baby. She presses a button and the baby's heartbeat fills the small room.

"Is that?" Matt asks me and I nod my head.

"Amazing, right?" I ask him and he nods his head. As Dr Lang takes note of the baby's heart rate.

"Well you and the baby appear to be in perfect health" she tells me with a smile. "And the baby is in the perfect position for us to find out the gender. Did you both want to know?" she asks us.

"I do" I say with a smile. "What about you Matt?" I ask him.

"I'd love to know what our baby is" he tells me.

"Ok, well you both are having a little boy. Congrats" she tells us as she writes it down. She then cleans my stomach of the gel. "See you in four weeks" she tells us and we left.

We went to a cafe for lunch. "So you still want to name our son after your dad?" Matt asks me while we wait for my food.

"Yes, is that ok?" I ask him.

"Better then naming after mine" he states. "So what will be his last name?" he asks. As out food arrived and we began to eat.

"I was thinking Gilbert-Donovan" I tell him.

"Sounds good" he says with a smile. "You know, this means Bonnie was right" he tells me. I smile.

"Yeah, she was" I say with a smile. "I can't wait to meet Grayson Matt Gilbert-Donovan" I tell him.

"Neither can I" he tells me.  Lunch was good. We wished each other luck and went to our separate homes. I arrive to find Elena and Jeremy in the kitchen.

"You ok Mira?" Jeremy asks me concerned.

"Yeah, Jenna said  you had something to tell us. Sounded important" Elena states.

"It is" I tell them. "Lets sit down" I state and we all sit down at the dining table. "So, no easy way to say this. But I'm 16 weeks pregnant with a baby boy" I tell them. They both look shocked.

"Um congratulations" Elena says unsure how to react.

"Wait, who's the dad?" Jeremy asks me.

"Well that's complicated" I tell him. "You know how I get when I drink to much" I remind them.

"You got pregnant from a one night stand?" he asks shocked.

"I thought mum made you get more pills" Elena says confused.

"She told me too and I didn't" I say sheepishly.

"Doesn't explain who the dad is" Jeremy tells me.

"We were both drunk and meant nothing. I'm so sorry Elena" I say trying not to cry. She gets up and hugs me.

"Who is it Mira?" she asks me.

"Matt, it's Matt" I tell her and start to cry.

"Wait, that means you slept together when he and Elena dated" Jeremy states. I cry more and Elena hugs me tightly.

"It's ok Mira, I know you would never do that sober" Elena assures me. "I love you" she states.

"I'm never drinking again" I tell her.

"So does our future nephew have a name?" she asks. Pulling away.

"Grayson, after dad" I state.

"He would of liked that" Jeremy tells me.

"Any pictures?" Elena asks and I take out two ultrasound pictures. I hand them to her and Jeremy. "Who else knows?" she asks.

"Bonnie, Jenna of course and the sheriff. Matt is telling Vicki now and I'll be texting Caroline. No doubt the whole school will know by Monday" I grumble.

"We have your back" Jeremy tells me. "So are you and Matt dating?" he asks.

"No, just going to co-parent" I state.

"He'll be an amazing dad" Elena states.

"I know right" I agree. "But I am still not going to drink ever again" I tell them.

"I give her a month after the baby is born" Jeremy tells Elena.

"She won't last a week" she says teasingly.

"You guys are the worst" I say pouting. But we all laugh as they hug me. Jenna appears with hot chocolate. "Yes!" I cheer as she hands me a cup.

"Glad to see it went well" she says with a smile.

"We'll all be here for you Mira, every step of the way" Elena tells me. "Just no sleeping with my current boy friend" she tells me teasingly. I laugh.

"I promise" I tell her. "That me is gone" I assure her. She smiles and hugs me.

"How about pizza?" Jeremy suggests. We all agree. Jenna orders it and we all chill. It felt nice to be surrounded by my family. Like before mum and dad died. If only they were here now. I hope things won't be to bad at school. Oh well, I won't have to worry about it until Monday.
