Chapter 13- Dare to Kiss
Loving The Bad Boy
Chapter 13- Dare to Kiss
-Aiden-
A weekend away from this ass of town sounded like heaven or as close to heaven as I could get to. Going to Matt's lake house was an awesome getaway and the fact that Emma was tagging along made it better. This could be the chance that I could let her in on my past, just a bit though. I can't have her know everything not yet that is, it would scare her off and that's something I don't want. I mean Emma is a person I could seem to open up to and it scares the hell out of me that someone like her could get the past that I've been hiding from everyone else out of me so easily. She's the one person who could actually listen and understand what I try to tell her. Damn I sound like a chick. Whenever I feel like I'm getting too close to her I withdraw back and I could see in her eyes that it hurts her and that leads me even closer to her. She like a magnet, no matter how far I try to get away from her she always seems to pull me back.
Okay so I know what you're thinking, this guy is totally whipped. But I don't think that's the case, I consider Emma a close friend. I know we've only known each other for a couple of weeks but she's Emma how can you not consider her a friend? I mean yeah I'm attracted to her with her short 5'6 frame, her brown wavy hair that falls mid back, her warm brown eyes and that body with all the curves in the right place. I could jus- Shut the hell up Aiden! This is Emma, your friend. Damn what the hell am I thinking? I shook my head to clear those thoughts. After Matt had invited us to the lake house this weekend, the guys and I decided to ditch the rest of school and go prepare for the trip. We decided to go to the supermarket to get some food for the trip and for the house after Derek and I dropped our cars home. Once in the supermarket the guys and I split and picked up a whole bunch of junk food like chips, cookies, pop tarts, ice cream, soda etc. You get the point. By the time we were finished our shopping cart was filled to the top, but we were missing one thing.
"Who's getting the alcohol?" Derek asked with a smirk on his face. Read my mind.
"Don't worry, I got that covered." Matt said smirking also. I wonder if Emma or Amy drinks? Both of them are too good for that, especially Emma. I highly doubt it, but I could always tease them with it. Once our shitload of food was paid for and pack in the truck we made our way to my house.
"So what's up with you and Emma?" Matt asked with a smirk on his face.
"What about her?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"You two seem to be getting awfully close" Matt answered back.
"We don't have a choice. We have a project to do." I stated. Derek wasn't joining in this conversation and that was odd because he usually does. I glanced in the mirror to see him lost in his own thoughts staring out the window. Strange.
"Yo Derek!" Matt called out. I guess he noticed too. Derek snapped out his thoughts and turn to face us.
"Huh, what?" Derek asked confused. I shook my head at him.
"Who are you daydreaming about?" I smirked at him. "Who got you so whipped?" I felt something hit my head hard and fell onto the floor in front of me. I look down and was shock to see that it was a football. Where the hell did he get that from? I turned to Matt to see that he was trying to hold in his laughter and his cheeks were puffed up like a balloon as the same for Derek. They both looked at me at the same time and busted out laughing.
"Holy shit, you should have seen your face!" Matt said trying to control his laughter. I glared at him.
"Dude, your face was priceless." Derek said patting my shoulder.
"You asshole." I muttered under my breath.
"Nah man, but Aiden is right. You've been acting strange for awhile, who's the girl that got you acting like lost puppy?" Matt asked Derek. "Could it be Emma?" When I heard that my eyes shot to the car mirror to see Derek's reaction, an unknown emotion flashed through his eyes when he heard her name, but I couldn't quite figure out what it was. This is the second time for that. Derek's eyes held no emotion as a smirk lifted onto his face.
"No, Emma is like a little sister to me. I look out for her and care about her, no feelings like that what so ever. Plus I have girls lining up to get with me, why would I stay with one girl?" He stated confidently, but something in his voice didn't seem right. It was like he was almost trying to convince himself. "What about Amy?" He said changing the subject.
"What about her?" Matt said dryly.
"You like her, don't you?" Derek said smiling.
"Hell no! She's too annoying, too stubborn, and too bitchy." Matt exclaimed but I could see a faint blush appear on his neck. He's not fooling anyone.
"You forgot too pretty." I said "Just admit it Matt you're attracted to her."
"No way! I am NOT attracted to that nerd." He said sternly but wouldn't make eye contact. Derek and I met each other's eyes in the mirror and just nodded in agreement. He likes her.
Matt dropped me off at my house and drove off saying he would pick me up in an hour. I went inside the house to see my mom walking out the same time with a small carry on.
"Leaving on a trip again, I see." I said coldly.
She looked up and sighed slightly. "Aiden, you know I have to go on these trips to promote the company."
"Yeah, you and dad always have to go on these trip rights? There so important." I said dryly.
"Aiden, we'll talk about this and your attitude when I get back, okay?" I didn't answer I just let her walk out the house with her carry on. This is just typical of her and my dad, they're never here for anything or anyone. I shook my head to clear those thoughts and went up to my room to pack. I just threw a few things in a bag and BAM I was done, simple shit. I bet the girls would have a shitload of stuff to carry, but they don't seem like the type of girl who would need fifteen bags for just a weekend, but hey you never know. I heard a horn sounding from outside, I knew it was Matt so I grabbed my bag and made my way outside. Derek was already in there when I got in. I threw my bag straight to him and it hit him square in the chest. His eyes widen with shock as he rubbed his chest.
"What the hell man?" He said glaring at me.
"Payback is a bitch." I said smirking in his direction. His eyes flashed with realization and he just nodded.
Matt chuckled at us. "I'm friends with losers." He said while driving to Emma's house. Derek and I smacked Matt over his head at the same time. "Hey! That shit hurt!" instead of responding we just chuckled at him.
It took us less than ten minutes to reach Emma's house. Matt honked his horn to signal for the girls to come out. Once they were in the truck we made our way to the lake house. We reached there an hour later and the girls were awestruck or maybe just Emma because her jaw was almost touching the ground. Well at least she liked it. Inside the house we all went our ways to unpack our stuff. Matt and Derek were sharing a room so was Emma and Amy so that left me alone. The lonely life, what a struggle.
After unpacking Derek, Matt and I decided to go to the backyard and build a bonfire since it was our first night here. See we have a tradition, whenever we come up here we always make a bonfire the first night. We've been doing this since our first time up here at the lake house and the tradition was kept up until now. Once we were finished we broke out the alcohol. What's a bonfire without something to drink? Matt poured some vodka into Derek's cup and the mine. I took a sip and coughed a little because I was not expecting it to be that strong. Matt got the good shit and not the cheap kind. I glanced over to my side and saw that Emma and Amy were making their way to us. I walked over to them. I handed each of them a cup filled with vodka.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"Try it sweetheart." I said with a smirk. She looked at me suspiciously but took a sip of the liquid anyways. One sip and she started to cough.
"Vodka?" She asked in between coughs. I was shocked she knew what vodka tasted like but I covered it up.
"The good girl knows what vodka taste like?" I question in fake surprise which in all honestly I was surprise. She just rolled her eyes at me.
"Yes, I know what vodka taste like. No need to be shocked." She said scowling at me. I just smiled at her and grabbed her hand to leading us to the bonfire. We sat down in comfortable silence until Amy broke it.
"Hey guys, let's play a game!" she exclaimed.
"What game?" Derek asked.
"The game is called dare you and this is how you play." Amy looked down on the ground and picked up four twigs, three of them were long and one of them was short. "Okay since I'm the one who started the game I won't have to pick for the first round. In the game the four of you will each pick a twig and whoever gets the short one has to do the dare I come up with. Once the dare is completed by the person with the short twig, that person gets to be the person who gives out the twig and come up with the dare. Simple?" we all nodded in unison. "Great, now pick each of you pick a twig." She held them out and we each took a twig.
And guess what? I got the shorter end of the twig. It's no big deal all she gonna do is give me a dare nothing too bad. I hope.
"Aiden, my man, looks like you got stuck with the shorter twig." Amy said smirking.
"Uh, I guess so." I answered back. "So what's my dare?" I said nonchalantly.
"Aiden Black, the bad boy, I dare you to kiss my best friend Emma Miller." She said pointing towards Emma smirking. I was shocked at the dare. I turned to see how Emma was reacting. Her eyes were widen in shock and then turned into a glare directed to Amy.
"Um, I don't think it's necessary." Emma said continuing to glare in Amy's direction.
"It's a harmless kiss, it won't mean anything." Amy said nonchalantly.
"It's a dare Emma, it won't mean anything afterwards." I said turning to face her. She looked in my direction a flash of sadness passed in her eyes. She studied my face for a minute trying to find something, but couldn't seem to. She sighed and nodded and turned to face me. I leaned down closer to her lips.
This won't mean anything.
It's just a kiss.
It's not like I have feelings for her.
Right?
-Emma-
"It's a dare Emma, it won't mean anything afterwards" Aiden said. When I heard that I felt a rush of sadness wash over me. It's a dare Emma, just a dare. It won't mean anything. But it will mean something to me. I sort of like Aiden and if I kiss him and he doesn't feel the same then it would be hurtful. Plus it's my first kiss. Hey don't judge! I bet most of you never had your first kiss either!
I mentally sighed to myself and looked at Aiden studying his face. He knows I'm attracted to him, but he doesn't know that I sort of like him and I want to keep it that way. This kiss might just change all of that, he might figure out my feelings for him and he probably won't feel that way and decide that it would be better if we not friends and I actually like our friendship. I like that I could be friends with him and laugh and joke around and just be near him and I don't want that to end. But could he possibly feel the same that I do? I highly doubt it, He's Aiden Black the school's bad boy and he has tons of beautiful girls lining up to get with him. Why would he want a nerd like me?
I sighed and nodded in agreement. Its one kiss and nothing bad could happen with this kiss. I like Aiden and I trust him. It's just one kiss, one short kiss. I turned to face him as he leans in closer to my face. His lips brushed gently against mine, I felt jolts of electricity rush down my body as he starts to move his lips against mine and as if my lips have a mind of its own they started to move in sync with his. Butterflies erupted in my stomach. Fireworks were going on inside my head, it was like nothing I ever experience before and I craved for more. But it ended all too soon as Aiden pulled away from me breathing heavily. I too was breathing heavily and my lips still felt tingly from the kiss we just shared.
I looked up to see Aiden's reaction, his face was flushed and his eyes were shocked almost like he felt what I felt, those amazing sensations that course through my body. Then his eyes turned cold and emotionless as he turned away from me.
"Your dare is done." He spat out to Amy. He got up and walked away from the bonfire towards the lake. I was shocked and hurt at the same time. Why would he react like that? I looked at the rest of the guys and they all looked shocked as well. I guess they weren't expected that reaction from Aiden. I looked over to Amy and she mouthed a 'sorry'. Matt had his mouth hanging open in shocked, I don't know if it was from the kiss or Aiden's reaction and Derek look shocked as well and kind of sad, but he recovered from it and forced a small smile onto his lips. He mouthed the word 'go' and nodded his head into the direction that Aiden took off to. I nodded and got up from the log I was sitting on and ran to catch up with Aiden. I saw him sitting in the grassy area near the lake and walked to up to him.
"Emma, I don't want to talk right now." He said not even sparing me a glance.
"Just tell me why you reacted the way you did Aiden." I said with hurt lace within my voice
"Em-"
"Tell me why you looked at me with such cold eyes."
"Emma, I-"
"Tell me why you ran away."
"Emma shut the hell up! I said I didn't want to talk, leave now!" He yelled snapping at me. I was shocked at his reaction and didn't even step closer. He wants you to leave Emma, so leave. I think it's time I actually start listening to my brain so I did just what it said, I turned to leave, to walk away from the guy I liked, to walk away from the guy who took my first kiss and to walk away from the guy who didn't want me anywhere near him.
I felt a hand grab my wrist. I turned around to see Aiden's hand wrapped around my wrist and his head bend down not looking at me. "I'm sorry, Em. I didn't mean to yell at you." He said softly.
"It's o-okay." I stammered out.
"Sit, please." He said letting go of my wrist and I calmly complied. I sat next to Aiden and glanced over to him, his eyes were emotionless and so was his face. We stayed silent for a while until Aiden broke the silence.
"Emma, you deserve to know why I act the way I did." He said glancing over to me. "I want to tell you, but it's very difficult for me. I've been through a lot of shit in my life and it's become very difficult for me to trust people." I nodded in an understanding way.
"But I trust you Emma. This is the first time I trust someone other than Matt and Derek and I have to admit it kind of scares me." I was shocked to hear that I was the first person that he trusts after so long, but I didn't utter a word, instead I let him continue on.
"I know you have a lot of questions about Mark and who he was."
I nodded. "I do have some questions about him. He's kind of scary."
Aiden chuckle lightly. "That he is and he's very dangerous." He said seriously. "I also know you have questions about who that girl was in the picture you found face down on my nightstand." My eyes widen in shock. How did he know?
"Emma, you're so easy to read. I knew something was wrong when you came out of my house. You were paler than snow and plus when I got back I saw that he picture frame was upside down." He said smirking at me.
I rolled my eyes at him. "I'm not that easy to read!" I said pouting.
"Yes you are." Aiden said.
"Yeah, whatever." I muttered.
Aiden took out a cigarette and lit it taking a puff of it and blowing it out. We stayed in comfortable silence for a few minutes. Aiden was staring out to the lake lost in his own thoughts.
"You know I want to tell you about my past, I want you to know what I went through and how it mold me to what I am today, but I'm afraid it might scare you away for good." He said sticking the cigarette bud in the grass.
"Aiden, you said you trust me. Then trust me and tell me you're past. I won't run away, I promise." I said in full honest. He turned and looked at me searching my face, I guess he found what he was looking for because he sighed and turned back.
"Do you really want to know?" He asked glancing at me out of the corner of his eye.
I nodded "Only if you're willing to tell me." I said.
"Well, get ready cause your about to have a story of a life time." He turned to me. "Ready to hear about my amazingly interesting past?"
"Yes" I answered.
I'm about to learn about Aiden's past.
All his hidden secrets are about to be reveal.
Oh boy what did I just get myself into?
