Where love failed me, hope came running.
I build a wall around my heart, hoping, by doing that, it'll be safe.
But was it? Each smile made a crack, each tear made it tremble,
Threatening that it would fall over, reviling a heart I had worked so hard to hide.
Blackened, as it burned for so long.
Wounded, for it suffered such pain.
And a single tear, that's what it takes,
To make the wall tremble, to show the pain I have hidden.
A single smile. Small, slow, yet it hurts badly.
To cheat with this heart, who wails, with a fake smile.
Or a sweet laugh, or a simple joke.
The wall around my heart, it trembles so.
Making sure I remember what had happened long ago.
