After the memorial Arielle headed to the Mikaelsons house; Elijah asked her to stop by, and Rebekah texted her asking why she left so quickly.
As she made her way up the driveway, she saw people walking in and out of the house with boxes and flowers. She was confused but shook it off.
She made her way into the house and walked around until she finally found them. They were all in a room getting tuxes fitted.
Weird
Only they would do this. She knocked on the door and leaned against the frame, "What's the special occasion?"
A man looked at her weirdly, "Who are you?"
"This is Arielle, Kol." Rebekah said, "Ari, this is my brother, Kol."
The girl smiled at him, "Nice to meet you, Kol."
Kol ignored her and went back to looking at himself in the mirror. The girl looked at Elijah who just shook his head.
"So, what happened last night you had to leave in such a rush?" Rebekah asked as the girl walked over and sat next to her.
"I'll tell you later." she said. Rebekah looked at her and nodded, "What's with all the people in here?"
"Mother is throwing a ball." Elijah said.
The girl looked back at him surprised, "You're joking right?" the man shook his head causing her to let out a small laugh.
"You're invited, obviously, starts at 6:00." Rebekah told her.
"I can't tonight, I haveâ"
"You're coming." Rebekah caught off.
She looked back at Elijah, who only looked down at his shoes, pretending to dust them, she sighed in defeat and looked back at Rebekah, "I'll be here."
She stood up and started walking back towards the door, "Where are you going?" the blonde asked.
"Well, I got to find something to wear." she said obviously, "And when Care finds out, she'll turn over the entire town, so I'd rather do that earlier."
Rebekah nodded in understanding, "I'll see you later then."
"Bye Bekah, bye Lijah." Elijah waved at her as she walked out and sent Caroline a quick message.

Caroline and Arielle walked into the Mikaelson house and saw all the decorations and people, everyone in town seemed to be here. Way to many people for Arielles liking, but not enough for Caroline's.
"You finally made it." Rebekah spoke as she walked up to them, "I thought you would've stood me up."
"You think I'd miss this?" Caroline scoffed.
The blonde shrugged, "I'm sorry about Bill."
Caroline looked down and cleared her throat, "I don't want to talk about him tonight."
Rebekah nodded and grabbed both their arms, "Let's get you both a drink."
~~~
"Welcome." Elijah began as all the guests gathered around the staircase, "Thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance."
He looked at Arielle with a look that said, 'You're dancing', before continuing his speech, "Tonight's pick is a centuries old-waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom." as everyone scattered, Arielle quickly tried to go in the complete opposite direction.
"You're dancing." Elijah said as he walked in front of her.
"No!" she groaned, "I don't dance." He mouthed 'liar' and held out his hand; she took it and they made their way to the dance floor.
The witch looked around and saw Caroline paired with Stefan and Rebekah paired with Marcus. As the music started, everyone started to dance.
"So, when you...updated me on everything that was going on whilst I was..gone, did you leave anything out?" he asked after a moment of silence.
The girl thought about it for a moment before answering, "No, I don't think so."
Elijah raised his brow, "Are you sure? Think. Is there anything you could have forgotten?"
"No. There isn't." she assured, "Why?"
Before he could answer, everyone started switching partners, "We're not finished." he spun her around making her land in Marcus' arms.
He looked at him weirdly as he danced with some woman, "What is it?" Marcus asked her.
She looked away from the original and towards the hybrid, "Elijah's acting weird. I don't know."
"How weird?"
"Asking me questions that sound like he doesn't trust me."
"Isn't he your best friend?" he asked as they danced.
"Yeah? So?"
"He's probably just worried." The girl nodded at his words.
He was probably right and she was probably just overthinking, "Maybe." Marcus spun her around and she landed in the arms of Stefan.
She rolled her eyes at him but still kept dancing, "Why didn't you tell me?"
She looked at him confused, "Tell you what?"
"Damon and Elena kissing!"
"Well it wasn't exactly my obligation, was it?" she sassed, "And if I told you, then Klaus would've probably figured out Elena was alive sooner; you're not the best liar."
Stefan scoffed, "Oh, so you were doing her a favor?" the girl nodded, "Yeah, right. I find that very hard to believe."
She shrugged, "Eh. Doesn't matter to me if you believe me or not."
The song ended and Arielle patted his back and walked away.
~~~
Elijah made his way through his house for the fifth time; he still hadn't found Arielle. He asked Caroline a couple times and he could tell she wasn't telling him the truth, so he knew she was avoiding him.
"Rebekah," his sister and Marcus turned to face him, "have you seen Arielle?"
The couple looked at each other and shook their heads; Elijah sighed, "Where is she? I know you're lying to me."
"If we lied it's probably because we don't want to tell you." Marcus said.
Elijah looked behind them and saw Arielle and Caroline by the bar, "Right. Thank you." he walked away and walked as fast as he could to get to her before she ran off again.
"There you are."
Arielle's face dropped, "Elijah!" she looked at her sister, but she was already halfway across the room.
"Let's talk." he held out his hand, and when she took it, he led them through the house and into a room.
"You lied to me."
"What?" she questioned.
"My brother told me you relapsed."
Her face immediately dropped but she quickly composed himself, "And you believed him?"
"I didn't have to." he stated, "Your reaction told me everything I needed to know."
"It wasn't a damn relapse." she snapped, "I haven't taken a pill."
"But you've probably been tempted."
"I haven't." she lied.
"Liar." he contradicted immediately, "When?"
"After Bill died." she admitted in a low voice.
"You could have told me."
"I know."
"So why didn't you?"
She shrugged, "I don't know, I just..." she stopped herself trying to look for the right way to express what she was feeling, "Because it just happened. And I haven't really gotten the chance to see you."
"That's an excuse." he quickly said, "What's the real reason?"
"After almost two years of being clean, Bill dies and I suddenly want to take a pill? I didn't even talk to Bill." she scoffed.
"But he was still a major part of your life."
"Yeah, because adopting a kid and then leaving a couple months later is major."
Elijah sighed and leaned against a desk, "You know, sometimes when we cut ourselves we just put a bandage over the wound. But that wound doesn't need a bandage, it needs stitches."
"So you're saying that I didn't deal with what?"
"Bill leaving." he said clearly, "Obviously it hurt more than you thought it did, but instead of accepting it, you moved past it."
Arielle looked into his eyes, and even though he was speaking calmly, his eyes were full of worry. She knew he was worried for her, he always seemed to be.
And she never made it easy for him
She trusted him with her life, but to trust him with her feelings was something completely different for her. Why? She didn't know.
Everything he was saying made sense to her, but she couldn't understand why Bill even ment so much to her.
He was never there for her; he always made it clear he saw her as a burden. So for her to be this messed up after his death confuses her.
"I don't know why it's affecting me so much." she muttered.
Elijah leaned off the desk and pulled her in for a hug, "I just want you to be okay."
"I know."
