Chapter 29

Help Me, Alpha

Luke

It’s Thursday evening and I’ve been called to Alpha Mason’s office. I make my way into the packhouse, stealing a quick glance at my phone. A text from Rose lights up the screen. ‘I love you, boo <3,’ it says.

A grin spreads across my face as I knock on Alpha Mason’s office door, tucking my phone back into my pocket.

Rose has finally come around to our mate bond. She was hesitant at first, but she’s a different person today. We’ve been texting non-stop, and I’ve learned so much about her.

We share a common dislike—we both can’t stand Hayley. Rose thinks Hayley is too weak to be a Luna. She couldn’t be more right.

We haven’t had a chance to meet since our first encounter, careful not to be seen by her pack members. That first meeting was a bit rocky.

I tried to kiss her, but she pulled away almost immediately. I keep telling myself she was probably just nervous. I hope our next kiss is better.

When I hear a ‘Come in,’ I push open the door and bow my head in submission to my Alpha. “Any news on Hayley?” he asks.

“Well, she wasn’t hurt in the attack, unfortunately. But I did see her walking with the Alpha of Midnight Rose Pack. I’m not sure if they’re just friends or... maybe more.”

“More? What do you mean, Luke?”

“Maybe... they could be mates,” I suggest.

“No way! There’s no way that idiot found her mate! And an Alpha at that!”

After a few moments, he whispers, “He wouldn’t want a weak, pathetic human as his Luna... This complicates things.” The room falls silent. Hayley always has to make things difficult.

“Alpha, speaking of mates, I’ve found mine. She’s from Midnight Rose Pack,” I say, unable to hide my smile.

“The pack where that weakling is staying? Moon Goddess, I can’t stand that pack. Always causing problems,” he grumbles, staring at his desk deep in thought.

“Yes, sir,” I confirm.

“Can we trust her?” he asks, looking back up at me. I know what he’s really asking. Can we trust her to help us get what we want without her pack finding out.

Luckily, Rose dislikes Hayley almost as much as we do. She sent me a long list of reasons why she can’t stand Hayley earlier today. It seems like fate is finally on our side.

“Yes, we can trust her. Rose can’t stand Hayley. She says Hayley gets on her nerves,” I say, smiling at the thought of my beautiful mate.

Once this situation is resolved, I can’t wait for us to start a family. The thought of having pups with Rose makes my wolf stir with excitement.

“Good job, Luke. You finally did something right.” I can’t help but smile at the Alpha’s veiled compliment. The mess I made is slowly but surely getting cleaned up.

“We can let our friends have a little more fun; let Hayley think she’s free before we snatch it away. She’ll regret running away from me. I can already hear her screams of pain, oh the joy.”

We both smirk, thinking about the memories we’ll make with our little toy.

“I’ll contact Alpha Thompson tomorrow to plan it out. I’ll give him a list of targets, but of course, I’ll tell him not to harm your mate.” At least my precious mate will be safe.

“We can use your Rose in the future. She won’t be needed for what I have planned right now. Until we’re sure we can trust her, be careful. But if we can, she’ll be very useful.”

“Understood, Alpha.” I don’t like his distrust of my mate, but I understand it’s for the greater good.

“Get some rest, Luke. We have nothing to worry about; we’ll have Hayley back soon,” he says with a smile. “Everything is going as planned. You’re dismissed.”

As I leave, I hear Alpha Mason mutter to himself, “They have no idea what’s coming...”
