Chapter 29
Help Me, Alpha
Luke
Itâs Thursday evening and Iâve been called to Alpha Masonâs office. I make my way into the packhouse, stealing a quick glance at my phone. A text from Rose lights up the screen. âI love you, boo <3,â it says.
A grin spreads across my face as I knock on Alpha Masonâs office door, tucking my phone back into my pocket.
Rose has finally come around to our mate bond. She was hesitant at first, but sheâs a different person today. Weâve been texting non-stop, and Iâve learned so much about her.
We share a common dislikeâwe both canât stand Hayley. Rose thinks Hayley is too weak to be a Luna. She couldnât be more right.
We havenât had a chance to meet since our first encounter, careful not to be seen by her pack members. That first meeting was a bit rocky.
I tried to kiss her, but she pulled away almost immediately. I keep telling myself she was probably just nervous. I hope our next kiss is better.
When I hear a âCome in,â I push open the door and bow my head in submission to my Alpha. âAny news on Hayley?â he asks.
âWell, she wasnât hurt in the attack, unfortunately. But I did see her walking with the Alpha of Midnight Rose Pack. Iâm not sure if theyâre just friends or... maybe more.â
âMore? What do you mean, Luke?â
âMaybe... they could be mates,â I suggest.
âNo way! Thereâs no way that idiot found her mate! And an Alpha at that!â
After a few moments, he whispers, âHe wouldnât want a weak, pathetic human as his Luna... This complicates things.â The room falls silent. Hayley always has to make things difficult.
âAlpha, speaking of mates, Iâve found mine. Sheâs from Midnight Rose Pack,â I say, unable to hide my smile.
âThe pack where that weakling is staying? Moon Goddess, I canât stand that pack. Always causing problems,â he grumbles, staring at his desk deep in thought.
âYes, sir,â I confirm.
âCan we trust her?â he asks, looking back up at me. I know what heâs really asking. Can we trust her to help us get what we want without her pack finding out.
Luckily, Rose dislikes Hayley almost as much as we do. She sent me a long list of reasons why she canât stand Hayley earlier today. It seems like fate is finally on our side.
âYes, we can trust her. Rose canât stand Hayley. She says Hayley gets on her nerves,â I say, smiling at the thought of my beautiful mate.
Once this situation is resolved, I canât wait for us to start a family. The thought of having pups with Rose makes my wolf stir with excitement.
âGood job, Luke. You finally did something right.â I canât help but smile at the Alphaâs veiled compliment. The mess I made is slowly but surely getting cleaned up.
âWe can let our friends have a little more fun; let Hayley think sheâs free before we snatch it away. Sheâll regret running away from me. I can already hear her screams of pain, oh the joy.â
We both smirk, thinking about the memories weâll make with our little toy.
âIâll contact Alpha Thompson tomorrow to plan it out. Iâll give him a list of targets, but of course, Iâll tell him not to harm your mate.â At least my precious mate will be safe.
âWe can use your Rose in the future. She wonât be needed for what I have planned right now. Until weâre sure we can trust her, be careful. But if we can, sheâll be very useful.â
âUnderstood, Alpha.â I donât like his distrust of my mate, but I understand itâs for the greater good.
âGet some rest, Luke. We have nothing to worry about; weâll have Hayley back soon,â he says with a smile. âEverything is going as planned. Youâre dismissed.â
As I leave, I hear Alpha Mason mutter to himself, âThey have no idea whatâs coming...â
