Chapter 530
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 528:
Stella asked flatly, âWhatâs going on?â
âNothing, just that I was going to look for you. I didnât expect you to call me first and say that we really have a mutual understanding,â Emily replied with a laugh from the other end of the phone.
âWell, Iâll wait for you at home.â After saying that, Stella hung up.
When Emily arrived in the afternoon, Aunt Maya informed her that Stella was taking a nap, so Emily waited in the living room.
When Stella woke up, she found Emily sitting there. âWhen did you come? Why didnât you call me?â Stella asked as she sat down beside Emily. She noticed that she had been feeling increasingly sleepy since she became pregnant.
âIâve just been here for a little while. I didnât want to disturb you, future mom,â Emily teased, looking at Stella. Stella smiled back at Emily and then asked about work, âDo you have a job now?â
Emily nodded in response. âThatâs good. Iâve always felt guilty. Itâs been a while since you last had a job.â
âItâs okay. I found one. Iâm starting in two days. I might not be able to come here often to chat with you.â
âIâm fine,â Stella smiled.
âSpeaking of Damien, I wonder how heâs doing now. Does this guy have a girlfriend? He hasnât contacted us for so long.â Emily recalled Damien, who had been out of touch for quite a while.
âOkay.â
It took her a moment to get through.
As soon as the call connected, Emily spoke, âDamien, you havenât contacted me in ages. Did you get a girlfriend abroad? Tell me the truth.â
á°Ïíí Ï í©ííííí Î¹í§ É¢í¶í¥í·íí¯íâí.í¸íí âHello, Damien is taking a shower. Itâs not convenient to answer the phone right now.â
Emily was startled to hear a manâs voice instead of Damienâs. She quickly checked the caller ID to confirm it was indeed Damien calling.
âOh, I see. Then Iâll hang up. Bye-bye.â Emily immediately ended the call, looking at her phone in confusion.
âEmily, whatâs wrong? What did Damien say? Why do you look so surprised?â Stella noticed Emilyâs distressed expression and grew concerned that something had happened to Damien.
âItâs half past two in the afternoon. It should be past nine oâclock in the evening over there. Why would a man pick up Damienâs phone at such a late hour? I wouldnât find it strange if it were a woman.â
Emily looked at Stella and expressed her thoughts in a daze.
When she called Damien earlier, she forgot it was nighttime on his side, leading to the misunderstanding about the man answering the phone.
âItâs not strange; itâs probably just a friend of Damienâs,â Stella said, unable to think of anything unusual.
âHe said Damien was in the shower, and he called him âLittle Min.â Itâs so late. Even if he is a friend, itâs strange for them to be living together. Damien isnât short on money.â
Emily felt uneasy about this situation. Why did it seem off to her?
After hearing Emilyâs words, Stella suddenly felt a shift in her intuition.
As soon as Wayne hung up the phone, Damien emerged from the bathroom.
Wayne held Damienâs mobile phone, contemplating the late-night call from someone in Damienâs family.
He handed the phone to Damien, who was drying his hair.
âSomeone called you just now. It was a beautiful woman,â Wayne said, raising his eyebrows and glancing at Damien.
âA beauty? Wayne, how can you answer my calls without permission?â Damien glared at Wayne, snatching the phone to check the call log. He saw it was from Emily and immediately dialed her back.
On the other end, as Emily and Stella chatted about Damien, Emily noticed the incoming call. She answered and put the call on speaker. âSister Emily, whatâs up? Why are you calling me so late?â
âWhat, if thereâs nothing else, I wouldnât bother calling you.â
âNo, no, hehe,â Wayne smiled at Damien, who was grinning like a fool. Wayne felt that Damien needed a lesson.
âDamien, I havenât heard from you in a long time. How are things on your end?â
Listening to their light banter, Stella thought back to when Damien hadnât gone abroad, and how he and Emily used to argue.
âStella!â Damienâs voice straightened at the mention of her name.
When Wayne heard Damien say Stellaâs name, he knew she was present.
It appeared that Damien still held feelings for Stella.
âHey, Damien, why is the handsome guy who answered your phone at this hour? He said you were taking a shower.â Emilyâs curiosity piqued; she was eager for gossip.
âHmm? You mean Wayne?â
Wayne, hearing his name mentioned, walked over and sat next to Damien.
âSo, the handsome guy is named Wayne. Good name. Whatâs he like? Also, hurry up and answer my question!â
âOh, I had dinner at his house this afternoon. It was a bit late and raining outside, so I didnât go back.â Damien glanced at the rain outside, feeling a chill as he wrapped himself in a quilt.
âWell, I believe that. But you arenât sleeping in the same room as him, are you?â
âHow could that be possible? I just took a shower, and I donât know when he showed up. By the way, Wayne, why do you want to see me?â
Damien turned his head toward Wayne, who had settled beside him.
âLetâs talk for a while.â
Wayne reached out and ruffled Damienâs wet hair, smiling at him.
Meanwhile, as Emily listened to Wayneâs voice, she sensed something off. She glanced at Stella, who appeared puzzled.
Stella was unsure why Emily was grinning so widely.
âHe wants to talk to me.â Damien turned back to Emily on the phone and explained.
âOh, I see. Give the phone to the man next to you.â Damien didnât know why Emily asked for Wayne, but he obediently handed the phone to him.
âSister Emily wants to speak to you,â Damien said, passing the phone to Wayne.
Wayne smiled as he took the phone, saying, âIâm Wayne.â
Upon hearing Wayneâs voice, Emilyâs smile widened as she said, âYou have to treat my Damien well. And donât hurt him. My Damien is afraid of pain. If you have time, bring him back to see me and Stella.â
Emilyâs chatter filled the air, leaving Stella a bit confused.
âOkay, I got it,â Wayne replied.
Then, Wayne returned the phone to Damien.
âSister Emily, what did you say to Wayne? Why is he smiling so happily? I have a bad feeling about this.â Damien looked at Wayne, who was grinning, and felt a chill run down his spine.
âAsk Wayne yourself. Itâs getting late; I wonât bother you any longer. Bye-bye.â Emily hung up the phone after her cheerful farewell, leaving Stella feeling apprehensive about what had just transpired.
