Chapter 529
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 527:
Wayne looked at Damien, who was reminiscing about the past, and smiled like a child.
âWayne, do you know why Stella didnât like me at that time?â Damien struggled to understand why Stella had never shown any affection toward him.
âBecause you were a kid.â Wayne flicked Damienâs forehead playfully.
âMe? A kid? No, I just pretended to be oblivious around her.â Damien rubbed his forehead, still unable to grasp why Stella felt that way.
âStella and I met first, and weâve known each other for so long. But in the end, RK, my cousin, took her away.â The thought of RK made Damienâs anger flare, especially since RK hadnât treated Stella kindly.
âGood boy, love isnât something that can be forced.â Wayne rubbed Damienâs head, then stood up and walked to the desk. He gazed out the French window, seemingly lost in thought.
âHmph... as if you know anything about love. You havenât even been with a woman, and yet youâre in love with me.â Looking at Wayne, who was standing there, Damien remembered something his secretary had told him.
He blurted it out, forgetting the secretaryâs repeated warnings not to mention it in front of Wayne.
Upon hearing Damienâs words, Wayneâs expression changed immediately.
âWho told you that?â Wayne turned around, looking intently at Damien.
Caught off guard by Wayneâs penetrating gaze, Damien froze.
âDonât say it, right? Itâs simpleâjust fire my secretaries and assistants.â Wayne observed Damien, who seemed dazed. He looked serious on the surface, but inwardly he was amused.
âWayne, you canât do this. It wouldnât be right to expel so many people for something I said accidentally.â Damien quickly moved toward Wayne.
gαâηÏνíâs.çоm, where stories thrive âDonât keep them? Whatâs the point of keeping them? If they can so casually discuss my personal life with outsiders, shouldnât I let them go?â Wayne raised his eyebrows, scrutinizing Damien.
âThey didnât tell outsiders that Iâm not an outsider.â
âNot an outsider? Is he an insider? Oh, I see.â Wayne smirked at Damienâs confusion. He then turned back to his desk and began reviewing some documents, leaving Damien standing there in a state of bewilderment.
âMadam, youâre awake. Breakfast is ready.â Aunt Maya approached Stella as she descended the stairs, ready to offer support.
âSorry to trouble you, Aunt Maya. Itâs only been a month, so you donât need to be so attentive.â Stella smiled at Aunt Maya, who looked kindly at her. Perhaps it was the thought of becoming a mother that made her appear much more gentle.
âNo trouble, no trouble.â Aunt Maya recalled Stellaâs earlier claim that she wasnât pregnant and had felt disappointed for a while.
Now that Stella was indeed pregnant, she was overjoyed.
As they entered the dining room, Stella spotted RK at the table and smiled at him.
RK frowned at Stella, surprised that she hadnât confided in him about her situation. He suspected she was burdened by her feelings, especially with everything she was going through.
After breakfast, RK informed Stella he would be heading to the office and advised her to rest at home. If she felt bored, she could take a walk in the garden.
Stella nodded in agreement.
Once RK left, Stella walked to the garden and noticed a swing nearby. She approached it and sat down.
She had been living in the RK Mansion for three years without ever seeing a swing.
After playing on the swing for a while, Stella moved to a table and sat down. She glanced at the snacks laid out and felt a wave of disgust at the sight of the greasy food. Remembering RKâs affinity for such snacks, she realized Aunt Maya was likely responsible for preparing them. She often craved sour foods these days.
After snacking a bit, Stella settled into a chair and basked in the sunlight, feeling warm and comfortable until she gradually dozed off.
When RK returned, the first thing he noticed was Stella asleep in the garden, leaning against a chair, sun-kissed and serene. He suddenly found her looking particularly radiant. With her recent pregnancy, she had been eating better, and her complexion had improved significantly. Under the sun, she appeared even more beautiful.
RK approached Stella, bent down, and prepared to carry her back inside.
Stella stirred awake as RK lifted her.
When her eyes fluttered open, the first thing she saw was RKâs face, illuminated by the sunlight.
With RK standing in front of her, she felt he was no longer the angel from hell but rather an angel from heaven.
However, whether he was a god of hell or an angel from heaven, he was still out of her reach.
RK carried Stella to the bedroom, not realizing she was now awake. It wasnât until he placed her gently on the bed that he noticed her eyes were open, gazing at him as if she had been watching for a while.
âBe good; donât look at me like that. I wonât be able to handle it. Youâre still pregnant,â RK said softly, bending down to kiss Stellaâs forehead.
Stellaâs face flushed at RKâs words.
âGet ready. Weâll have dinner later,â RK instructed with a smile before turning to leave the bedroom.
Stella touched the spot where RK had kissed her, feeling a blush spread across her cheeks.
When she made her way downstairs, RK, seated at the dining table, found the situation surreal.
Over the years, he had only seen Stella during breakfast; never had he witnessed her enjoying lunch or dinner at home.
Stella felt as if she were dreaming.
Suddenly, she remembered Sophiaâs cruel threats. She recalled how Sophia had callously pushed her into the sea and wondered if RK had discovered the truth behind her actions, making him extra nice to her as a means of atoning for Sophiaâs misdeeds.
âEat more,â RK encouraged, noticing Stellaâs distraction. He served her a portion of food.
Stella mechanically nodded, lowering her gaze to eat, trying to push aside her tangled thoughts.
âIn the afternoon, if youâre bored, call Emily to keep you company,â RK suggested.
Stella nodded again. She felt ill at ease.
âEmily, do you have time in the afternoon?â
Stella dialed Emilyâs number, feeling guilty for inconveniencing her. Emily had waited so long to work together, and because of her pregnancy, Stella had kept her waiting.
âWhen you have time, just call me over to chat!â
âYouâre so clever!â Thinking of Emilyâs increasing vanity, Stella felt genuinely happy.
Since junior high, she had struggled to make friends, but Emily had always been there for her, never holding her mistakes against her. Stella felt grateful to have a friend like Emily in her life.
Suddenly, she thought of Damien. Stella realized she hadnât seen him in a long time and missed the boy who had always followed her around.
âStella, are you listening to me?â
Emilyâs loud voice jolted Stella from her thoughts.
âWell, Iâm sorry. I just remembered Damien. I wonder how he is now.â
âThatâs right. I donât know if that guy, Damien, misses you,â Emily added, her voice lowering.
âHmm, Emily, what did you just say? Say it again.â
