Chapter 52
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 52:.
Since Stella agreed to have dinner with him tonight, Tristan didnât linger and let her go.
When Stella returned to the company, it was one oâclock in the afternoon. Since it was still lunchtime, all the secretaries in the office were out to lunch. She was the only one there.
âStella!â
Stella had just sat down when the head secretary came in and called her. âThe company has had an emergency that requires you to come back. Since you are half an hour late, you will be docked half of your pay for today.â Stella was speechless.
Late?
Wasnât it only 1:30 PM?
Stella pointed to the time on her phone screen and said, âSecretary General, itâs only 1:30 p.m. Itâs still half an hour before the end of the lunch break.
Itâs still half an hour before the end of the lunch break, how can I be late?â.
The Secretary General shook her head, indicating that she knew nothing.
âThe president told me you didnât have lunch today. He asked you to come back to take care of some urgent business.
But since you didnât come back, you will be punished according to company rules. If the president orders something and an employee does not do it, the penalty is half a dayâs pay. It will be deducted.
He continued, âStella, I donât want to scold you, but you havenât been in the secretariat very long. Our office is the closest office to the presidentâs office, how can you not behave properly?â.
That damn man! An emergency? What emergency? Why didnât he know anything about it? She had only been at the secretariat for a few days and wasnât even familiar with most of the work. What kind of urgent task did she have to perform?
Stella shook her head and said, âSecretary General, I will not accept this punishment! It makes no sense. Whatâs more, all employees are entitled to a normal lunch break, why canât I have one? Besides, you havenât told me anything beforehand!â.
That man was so obnoxious! He deliberately chose to call her when she was having lunch with Tristan. This man couldnât stand to see her happy, could he?
мÏÑÑ Ï ÏâαÑÑÑ Î¹Ð¸ gαâиÏνÑâÑ.¢Ïм With a sympathetic expression on her face, the Secretary General shook her head and said, âStella, I donât know if the president told you beforehand or not, but you know the boss, and the boss is always right. Heâs the one who pays your salary. If you want to argue, go argue with him.â
âThatâs right, Stella. Didnât you have an affair with the president? Why donât you go and act like a spoiled brat with Mr. Kingston?
Iâm sure heâll forgive you â maybe heâll even give you more money!â
More people began to arrive at the secretaryâs office. When she heard someone openly mocking her, the secretary got into an uproar.
âStella! Donât tell me you didnât please the president enough in the office, is that why heâs picking on you?â.
A group of people started making fun of her. âItâs true! If you behave yourself, the president has never had a relationship with any woman except his fiancée. Now that youâve gotten into his bed, maybe if you behave like a spoiled brat heâll forgive you!â.
Stellaâs face turned red with anger.
It was the man who was to blame in the first place, but everyone in the company was making fun of her. Stellaâs face grew cold and she said, âShut up! Who gave you the right to question my character? If you canât stand him, go to his bed and see if heâll have you.â
These women... At first, Stella didnât want to argue with them because she felt it was unnecessary! But in the end, they started it.
However, she couldnât take it anymore....
No one expected Stella to lose her temper. Everyone kept quiet and no one dared to interrupt her. In the end, Stellaâs salary was still docked!
What was so urgent that it required changing your mealtime?
It was just a punishment from that man after seeing her at lunch! In the afternoon, Stella wanted to go to his office and confront him? But every time she tried, his special assistant pushed her away and wouldnât let her in. This time... She was really lost!
It was almost time to leave work.
Emily went to find her at the secretaryâs office. âStella! Do you want to come home with me?â
Since Stella returned and started working at RK Group, she almost always went home with Emily. Firstly, they lived together, and secondly, Emily had a car, so it was convenient for her to hitchhike.
Therefore, whenever Emily was about to leave work, she would come and ask Stella.
âNo, I have something to do tonight. We canât go back together,â Stella said as she left her office, intending to change out of her uniform.
Emily followed her into the locker room.
When Emily heard that Stella had something to do tonight, she was a little confused and asked, âAre you going to see your grandmother in the hospital? I can go with you! I havenât seen Grandma in a while.â
Since Stella had just returned to the country and didnât have many friends, Emily immediately thought of her grandmother.
Stella shook her head and said, âNo, itâs Tristan. He wants to have dinner with me and Adrian. Thatâs why tonight, Adrian and I wonât be home.â
Stella had mentioned Tristan to Emily before, so as soon as she heard it, Emily knew who it was! âOh! So itâs the handsome doctor!â
Emily joked, âNo wonder when I went to lunch with you this afternoon you werenât there. When I stopped by the restaurant, you were having lunch with Tristan!â.
Emilyâs voice... Every time she talked about something that interested her, her voice got louder.
His office was the closest to the presidentâs office, so the entire floor was silent, as everyone was afraid of disturbing the presidentâs work.
In the entire company, the quietest place was the presidentâs office. Whatâs more, it was less than ten minutes before they were due to leave work.
There were many employees in the plant coming and going, but their steps were light. No one wanted to disturb the president at work; they quickly changed uniforms and hurried away.
Emily was very curious about Stellaâs appointment.
Since Stella had not been in a relationship for the past six years and was no longer young, Emily was concerned about her friendâs love life.
âHey, Stella, I think this brother of yours is really good to you! Look, itâs been so many years, and he still cares about you!â joked Emily.
As they walked past the presidentâs office, Emily noticed that the door was slightly open. She saw that the man was listening to his special assistantâs report on the dayâs work.
Seeing RK... Emily was not in a good mood. She knew her best friend had been abandoned by RK, leaving her alone in the care of a child....
Emily didnât like the big boss of the company, handsome as he was!
Every time she saw him, she complained to Stella, âStella, I think Tristan is so much better than your ex-husband. Itâs been so many years, but he still cares about you!â.
Emily looked into the presidentâs office and said, âStella, you should enjoy your date tonight. I donât think you should go home tonight; you might as well spend the whole night out with Tristan!â.
Stella was speechless.
This... His voice was too loud. He quickly tugged Emilyâs arm and led her away from the presidentâs office. As they walked, she couldnât help but remind him, âKeep your voice down! Itâs not good for them to hear you.â
This girl spoke up whenever she could!
However, they were still at the door of the presidentâs office, and her voice was so loud that Stella feared the president would hear her. Especially since she had been punished that afternoon with a half-day pay deduction after having lunch with Tristan.
She didnât want to upset him and risk being punished again. But Emily was acting like she wasnât afraid of anything!
âStella, why do you still care about him? Heâs your ex-husband and youâre already divorced, so what if he finds out? Besides, Tristan is so much better than him!â
Emily grumbled, full of complaints on Stellaâs behalf.
Stella didnât know what to say.
She knew Emily was worried about her. The two chatted for a while. Since Stella had something to do that night, Emily went back first.
Stella also took off her uniform, went to her desk to collect her things and was ready to leave when someone stepped forward and said, âMiss Richard, Iâm afraid you canât leave yet!â.
He was special assistant Alex.
Alex had always been this manâs right-hand man. It had been six years since he had started working for him and, six years later, he was still there.
Just now, as they walked past the presidentâs office, Stella saw Alex briefing her on the job.
Stella was about to leave with her purse when she heard his words and was stunned. âWhy not?â
I felt a great restlessness in my heart.
âThe president wants you to stay tonight and work overtime. There is an important meeting and he has asked you to attend with him,â Alex said.
Stella was speechless.
What was wrong with this man? Not only did he not allow him to eat lunch, but he docked half of his pay for the day. He even wanted her to work overtime. Was he kidding?
It was torturous enough working normal hours. Now that she was about to leave work, he wouldnât even let her leave!
What kind of boss was he? He was a demon!
Stella cursed, âBad luck!â.
She was still angry about what had happened in the afternoon. She had promised Tristan to have dinner with him and it was almost time to leave work. Why hadnât she told him sooner?
Now, when it was time to leave work, he wanted her to work overtime!
It was the same as in the afternoon. If he told her he would cancel her lunch break, so be it. If he docked her pay, so be it. Was there any justice?
Stella picked up her purse and said coldly, âI have a date tonight. Iâm not going to work overtime.â
