Chapter 295

Love After Divorce by BELLA

Chapter 295:

“Darling, then I’ll tell you a joke. There was a toothpick walking down the road, and suddenly it saw a hedgehog running past in the middle of the road. Guess what it shouted? It called the hedgehog ‘bus’! Haha, isn’t that funny?” Adrian beamed, expecting a reaction.

RK felt that Adrian’s jokes were even more sleep-inducing than the poems. The kid couldn’t even tell a good joke. What was the point of telling a joke that everyone already knew? Would Stella laugh? What a childish kid.

“Darling, there’s a kid in my class who came from abroad. Do you know how he says ‘How are you?’ It’s so strange. He asked me to learn his language because he keeps making mistakes in ours. Isn’t that funny?”

It wasn’t funny at all. That joke had been circulating in the entertainment world for ages. Did this kid watch too many TV shows?

Was he really a child?

“Darling, if you don’t think my joke is funny, then I’ll buy a big book of jokes tomorrow, and I’ll read them to you one by one. If there are any words I don’t know, I’ll ask Bad Uncle to help me. Then you’ll surely laugh in bed!”

No one knew if Adrian realized that reality was always very different from fantasy.

RK felt it was time for Adrian to go home and do his homework.

Just then, the innocent Adrian turned toward him. “Bad Uncle, you don’t want me talking to Darling, huh? Well, when Darling wakes up, I’ll tell her to punish you and give you the death penalty! Hmph! Then your happy days will be over!”

Adrian’s voice gradually faded down the hospital corridor. RK rubbed his forehead and sat back down by Stella’s bed, speechless. It was as if he had finally gotten the peace he wanted.

“Stella, Adrian doesn’t take after you. You’re so quiet. Why did you give birth to such a noisy kid like him? Did he take after me?

No way, I’m not a noisy person!” RK mused, thinking of his former domineering and cold demeanor. He couldn’t help but feel dazed. He didn’t notice how noisy he had become lately.

That evening, RK once again fell asleep beside Stella’s bed. Recently, he had been feeling very tired, and he always seemed to drift off, even while sitting there.

In his sleep, RK felt something gently nudging him. It was very faint, but enough to stir him from his doze. He opened his eyes groggily and saw Stella’s hand move, then fall back limply.

Discover more gαℓησvℯℓs.com RK rubbed his eyes, unsure if he had imagined it. Just as he sighed in disappointment, he saw Stella slowly open her eyes.

“You... you’re awake?” RK couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Stella tried to open her mouth but quickly realized she couldn’t speak.

RK grabbed a cotton swab, dipped it in water, and gently moistened her lips.

Stella didn’t even have the strength to swallow. She could only rely on the tiny drops of water to quench her thirst.

“Stella, you’re finally awake. Do you know how many days have passed?” RK’s eyes filled with tears as he spoke.

Stella looked at RK’s slightly teary eyes and rolled her own with difficulty. The last thing she remembered was fighting with him over Adrian’s custody, but her hatred for him had softened. It felt like he had been the one talking to her in those dreams while she was unconscious. The anger she had for him wasn’t as sharp as before.

Although it was hard for Stella to move, and she still needed a lot of help with daily tasks, waking up wasn’t as easy as being unconscious. It was unsettling to her when RK took over and began wiping her face and applying her face mask.

Wait, wait, wait—just because she had been married to RK didn’t mean she wouldn’t feel embarrassed with him taking care of her like this.

But, since she couldn’t speak, she could only feel the awkwardness in silence.

Despite this, RK noticed her discomfort.

“Hey, Stella. I’m a respected young master of the Kingston family, but you’re not happy with me serving you. What’s wrong with you?” he teased, noticing her unease.

Stella cursed RK in her mind, but she couldn’t say anything. She couldn’t scold him or even muster the strength to glare at him.

RK thought it wasn’t all bad. At least now she couldn’t reject his care or argue with him. Right now, she was like a gentle little lamb, docile and sweet, not protesting anything he did.
