Chapter 295
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 295:
âDarling, then Iâll tell you a joke. There was a toothpick walking down the road, and suddenly it saw a hedgehog running past in the middle of the road. Guess what it shouted? It called the hedgehog âbusâ! Haha, isnât that funny?â Adrian beamed, expecting a reaction.
RK felt that Adrianâs jokes were even more sleep-inducing than the poems. The kid couldnât even tell a good joke. What was the point of telling a joke that everyone already knew? Would Stella laugh? What a childish kid.
âDarling, thereâs a kid in my class who came from abroad. Do you know how he says âHow are you?â Itâs so strange. He asked me to learn his language because he keeps making mistakes in ours. Isnât that funny?â
It wasnât funny at all. That joke had been circulating in the entertainment world for ages. Did this kid watch too many TV shows?
Was he really a child?
âDarling, if you donât think my joke is funny, then Iâll buy a big book of jokes tomorrow, and Iâll read them to you one by one. If there are any words I donât know, Iâll ask Bad Uncle to help me. Then youâll surely laugh in bed!â
No one knew if Adrian realized that reality was always very different from fantasy.
RK felt it was time for Adrian to go home and do his homework.
Just then, the innocent Adrian turned toward him. âBad Uncle, you donât want me talking to Darling, huh? Well, when Darling wakes up, Iâll tell her to punish you and give you the death penalty! Hmph! Then your happy days will be over!â
Adrianâs voice gradually faded down the hospital corridor. RK rubbed his forehead and sat back down by Stellaâs bed, speechless. It was as if he had finally gotten the peace he wanted.
âStella, Adrian doesnât take after you. Youâre so quiet. Why did you give birth to such a noisy kid like him? Did he take after me?
No way, Iâm not a noisy person!â RK mused, thinking of his former domineering and cold demeanor. He couldnât help but feel dazed. He didnât notice how noisy he had become lately.
That evening, RK once again fell asleep beside Stellaâs bed. Recently, he had been feeling very tired, and he always seemed to drift off, even while sitting there.
In his sleep, RK felt something gently nudging him. It was very faint, but enough to stir him from his doze. He opened his eyes groggily and saw Stellaâs hand move, then fall back limply.

âYou... youâre awake?â RK couldnât believe what he was seeing. Stella tried to open her mouth but quickly realized she couldnât speak.
RK grabbed a cotton swab, dipped it in water, and gently moistened her lips.
Stella didnât even have the strength to swallow. She could only rely on the tiny drops of water to quench her thirst.
âStella, youâre finally awake. Do you know how many days have passed?â RKâs eyes filled with tears as he spoke.
Stella looked at RKâs slightly teary eyes and rolled her own with difficulty. The last thing she remembered was fighting with him over Adrianâs custody, but her hatred for him had softened. It felt like he had been the one talking to her in those dreams while she was unconscious. The anger she had for him wasnât as sharp as before.
Although it was hard for Stella to move, and she still needed a lot of help with daily tasks, waking up wasnât as easy as being unconscious. It was unsettling to her when RK took over and began wiping her face and applying her face mask.
Wait, wait, waitâjust because she had been married to RK didnât mean she wouldnât feel embarrassed with him taking care of her like this.
But, since she couldnât speak, she could only feel the awkwardness in silence.
Despite this, RK noticed her discomfort.
âHey, Stella. Iâm a respected young master of the Kingston family, but youâre not happy with me serving you. Whatâs wrong with you?â he teased, noticing her unease.
Stella cursed RK in her mind, but she couldnât say anything. She couldnât scold him or even muster the strength to glare at him.
RK thought it wasnât all bad. At least now she couldnât reject his care or argue with him. Right now, she was like a gentle little lamb, docile and sweet, not protesting anything he did.
