Chapter 279
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 279:
Ever since the incident at the cemetery, RK and Adenâs relationship had noticeably improved. They no longer gave each other the cold shoulder, and they even argued occasionally. Despite this, their interactions were filled with a sense of camaraderie, making their lives more interesting.
âWhatâs going on? Did Ruby come to bother you again?â Aden asked, taking a sip of his drink.
RK scoffed. âRuby? Sheâs all talk. After all these years, what else can she do except spit out sarcastic remarks and get ignored by me?â He shrugged, showing how little he cared for her.
âHahaha, RK, youâre ruthless! I mean, Ruby can be a bit of a viper, but Iâll admit, even sheâs no match for your cold-heartedness,â
Aden chuckled. âCome on, you didnât just drag me here for drinks. If somethingâs up, spill it. Donât act all mysterious.â
RK frowned, swirling his drink slowly. âItâs nothing serious, just... recently, Iâve been remembering things I thought Iâd forgotten.
Itâs strange, like certain memories have resurfaced all of a sudden. Why do you think that happens?â
Aden raised an eyebrow. âThis is about Stella, isnât it? Are you realizing you still have feelings for her? Come on, tell me, I want to hear all about it,â he teased, clearly eager for gossip.
âIt does have something to do with Stella,â RK admitted. âBut itâs just odd. After all these years, why am I thinking about it now?â
Aden leaned in. âWhatâs the big deal? If somethingâs bothering you, think about it and let it go. No need to overthink.â
âThatâs the thing. Itâs not a big deal, but I canât stop thinking about it. I canât calm down. Thatâs why I called you out here tonight.â
RKâs frustration was evident as he stared into his glass.
That night, RK was different from the person Aden was used to seeing. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe something else had triggered him, but he rambled on like an old man, never quite getting to the point, much to Adenâs frustration.
âMan, just tell me whatâs going on! What are you thinking about? What trivial matter has got you this worked up?â Aden was practically begging for clarity, feeling like he was on the verge of losing his patience.
RK sighed deeply before finally confessing, âTonight... I kissed Stella. And then...â
Åαâ ê$Ŧ çнâpŧéÑÅ Ã¬Ï gÃ¥lnõvεlÅ.¢øм âAnd then what? Did she slap you? Did Adrian jump in and hit you? Or did you hit yourself?â Aden leaned in, eager for the punchline. âCome on, RK, donât leave me hanging. Speak up!â
But RK, having reached the peak of his emotional exhaustion, had fallen asleep right at the critical moment. Aden stared at him in disbelief, feeling utterly exasperated.
âUnbelievable,â Aden muttered. âHe falls asleep just when itâs getting interesting.â
It seemed RK had finally come to terms with his feelings for Stella. Aden found it amusing. RK, the top student in school, the guy who was always right, was finally realizing he wasnât invincible.
Back in their high school days, RK had always been arrogant, effortlessly dominating everything from academics to sports. He had been the star player on the basketball team, with a whole crowd of girls skipping class just to watch him play. RKâs flawless dunks and smooth moves had earned him admiration, but also a fair amount of resentment.
Aden still remembered one particular basketball game where RKâs performance had humiliated the opposing team. After the game, the other players had wanted to challenge RK to a one-on-one match, but RK had dismissed them coldly, saying, âI donât fight with idiots; it would make me look like one too.â
That comment had earned him years of animosity, and those same players still carried a grudge whenever they saw RK at class reunions.
RK had always been arrogant and untouchable, never facing real defeat. Aden felt a strange sense of satisfaction imagining Stella giving RK a taste of his own medicine this time around.
After much effort, Aden finally managed to drag RK home and settle him into bed. Feeling mischievous, Aden grabbed RKâs phone and typed out a message to Stella.
âStella, to be honest, I havenât forgotten you all these years. Thereâs a reason for what happened back then. When the time is right, Iâll explain everything.â
Aden grinned, feeling pleased with himself. He thought he had done a great thing without knowing just how right he was.
