Chapter 94
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 95: Briggs âAbout da*n time you answered, as***le,â I said when Theo finally picked up the phone. âMina has been driving me crazy wanting to know how things went last night.â
Okay, we both were dying to know if things went well. When Theo called me to get my help setting up the perfect date with Ayla, I dropped everything without question. When I got there with the flowers and other supplies, he insisted I stay hidden so Ayla didnât find out. I had never seen him so uptight about décor. It was quite amusing.
âShe didnât call Ayla?â Theo asked.
âOf course she did,â I said. âBut she wasnât sure if she was supposed to know, so she only tried a couple times. Quit changing the subject. How the hell did it go?â
âWeâre not ready to let anyone know just yet,â Theo replied, but I could hear the happiness and excitement in his voice.
âWe?â I asked, sitting up in my office chair. âSo, it went well?â
There was a pause on the other end. âYeah,â Theo replied. âIt went f****ng amazing.â
I was smiling from ear to ear. I knew Theo was too.
âIâm cleaning up right now before Mom and Dad get back,â he explained. âIâll tell you more after Ayla and I have had some time to talk.â
âYou two are killing us over here, you know that, right?â
Chapter 95 Briggs 288 Vouchers âYouâll live,â Theo insisted before hanging up the phone.
I immediately mind-linked Mina.
âHey, babe, I just spoke with Theo. It sounds like it was a great night.â
I could feel her nearby but she didnât answer. She had been working on some paperwork for the pack. It wasnât exactly the most riveting job, so she shouldnât have been that focused. My gut tightened. Something was off âBabe?â I reached out again. She wasnât blocking me.
âIâm in Theoâs office,â she finally responded. I could feel fear in her words.
âIâm on my way.â I shot up from my desk.
âAct normal,â she hissed through our connection. âDonât rush. I lied and said I couldnât mind-link.â
What the hell? Mina and I still hadnât marked each other, so our senses were still limited.
âWho is there, Mina?â I demanded.
âI donât know,â she replied. âHeâs demanding files... I donât...â
âIâm here, baby,â I said, pausing outside Theoâs office door.
It was cracked open and I could hear a manâs voice inside. I didnât recognize it, but he demanded Mina find something for him. I was filled with rage. Ready to barge in and rip this as***l*âs throat out. But he wasnât expecting me to come in, so I couldnât appear like I was expecting to find him. I took a few breaths to get my head straight.
Chapter 95 Briggs 288 (Vouchers I pushed through the door. âHey, Mina...â
Randall Fallweather was standing behind Mina. When I came in, he grabbed her, holding a blade to my mateâs throat. I growled as my hands clenched into fists. It took everything in me not to launch myself across the room.
âWhat the hell is going on?â I demanded.
âStay back,â Randall demanded. âI will kill her. I just want the files. And donât even try to mind-link anyone, or I start cutting.â
âOkay, okay,â I said, trying to calm him down. I looked at Mina. She gave me a slight nod, letting me know she was okay. âWhat files?â
âYou donât need to know,â Randall spat. âI just need to know where he keeps them.â
âItâs an office, man,â I said, taking a slow step forward. âCheck any drawer.â
âNot those,â Randall said, waving the blade around. âThe hidden ones. The files that arenât supposed to exist. All these Alphas keep them.â
âIâm not the Alpha,â I said, taking another step.
âNo, but youâre his Beta. So you know where they are.â He grabbed Mina tighter. âAnd youâre going to tell me. Iâll get what I came for, and you can have your little girlie here back, safe and sound.â
âAnd what? You walk out the front door?â
Randall chuckled. âThatâs exactly whatâs going to happen. Because if I donât, your mate here wonât be the only one who suffers.â
âAlright,â I said, âjust take it easy. The cabinet safe is the only place I Chapter 95 Briggs 288 Vouchers know he could have anything like that. Behind the desk.â
He looked back, dragging Mina with him toward the safe.
âI told Jimmy to call Theo,â Mina said while he was distracted. He wasnât looking at her eyes, so she could reach out safer than I could.
I smiled at her. My brilliant mate.
If he harmed her, Iâd kill him on the spot.
Randall yanked the door open, revealing the safe door inside.
âWhatâs the code?â
I winced. âI donât know.â
âWell, you better start figuring it out,â he said, putting pressure behind the blade against Minaâs skin.
âYou really think hurting her will get you what you want, Randall?â I let his name slip on purpose. His face paled. âThreatening a Betaâs mate is a death sentence on its own, and you already have a murder charge hanging over you.â
âNo,â he shouted. âThat wasnât me.â
âWe found the files in your rental house, Randall,â I said. âYouâre the only one who could have been down there with Mrs.
Walport. What makes you think what youâre looking for is here?â
âI wasnât,â he insisted. âI was only in charge of the fires. Now, I know the old Alpha covered something up. So you better start remembering the code.â
âI canât remember what was never given to me,â I said. Mina gasped as Chapter 95: Briggs 288 iVouchers he tightened his hold. âBut if you give me a minute to think, I might be able to figure it out. But I would think a lot clearer if there wasnât a knife pressed against my mateâs throat.â
Randall thought momentarily, shifting from one foot to the other before I could see him loosen his grip on Mina.
âGood,â I said. âNow, I believe you didnât kill anyone, Randall. So, Iâm going to help you get the code and find what youâre looking for. But youâre going to have a hard time getting out of here without drawing attention.â
âOh really,â Randall sneered.
âYouâre pretty nervous right now. They will probably smell you throughout the packhouse halls,â I said. âYour unfamiliar scent is going to draw attention to you.â
âYou donât worry about that,â Randall said. âI have my insurance. Iâm pretty good a distractions.â
My eyes locked with Minaâs.
He was going to set a fire in the packhouse.
