Chapter 195
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
(Vouchers Chapter 45: Theo I let Ayla sleep the next morning, taking a break from our training sessions. After a quick workout with Briggs and Jimmy, we headed to my office to call Sheriff McCabe. Things had been quiet on the border, but that wasnât surprising. Grogan and his men would know we would be on guard after the last attack. So they would be biding their time for the next.
âThe task force is doing well,â McCabe said over the line. âThe men you sent have been a big help in training some of the local volunteers.â
âThatâs good to hear,â I said. âWe questioned one of the rogues yesterday. We got some information to help us track down some of these groups. Weâve still got the other to question. Iâd like for you to come back up. I want to send someone undercover if possible. But weâ Il need your help to work out the best plan. Can you make that work?â
âIâm in the middle of hiring a new deputy,â he replied. âBut that should be sorted in the next day or two. I can head up after that.â
âI can work with that,â I said. âIâll email you the details of yesterdayâs interview. Look over it and make any notes you think of. And just let me know when youâre on your way up.â
âWill do.â
We disconnected and I directed my attention to my companions.
âHow do you plan to get someone undercover with a group of rogues?â Jimmy asked.
âIâve got Mina working on a possible solution for that,â I said. âSheâs 0.00%
O 15:49 Chapter 45 Theo 288 Vouchers been interviewing lab companies already. She thinks she has a couple options that could help with our manâs scent. But I need you to find us the right person.â
âI can handle that,â Jimmy said.
âHow are things at the college with Ayla?â
Jimmy had still been working with the security team to monitor the campus. He had asked to stay on the assignment to look for anyone suspicious paying her any extra attention. Maggie was great, but she could only focus on Ayla when on the job. Thatâs what she was there for. But if any other threats were lurking at the school, I wanted to know.
âSo far, so good,â he said. âIâve got a couple of the guards keeping eyes and ears out for any whispers or hints of the Waar Pak recruiting. Colleges are usually prime targets for that sort of thing. If we find anything, youâll be the first to know.â
âAny luck with that?â I said.
I wouldnât be surprised if we did find something. After Ayla was attacked in the packhouse, Jimmy had been searching for any members within our pack. Randy gave him some pointers on what to look for and what to do if he had any suspects.
âWe have a few leads,â he said. âBoth on campus and off. But nothing major yet. Could just be rebellious kids. Weâll see.â
âOkay,â I replied. âAnything else regarding this?â
âHarmon has his team together,â Briggs said. âHeâs ready to start renovating the house.â
I nodded. âIâll track him down later,â I said. âI think weâre done for 25.41%
O 15.49 Chapter 45: Theo 238 Mouchers now. Iâm meeting Dad to head out to our monthly lunch with the locals.â
I left my office and found Dad across the hall with Mom. She was still in the process of redoing the office space for Ayla to take over and had wrangled him into helping her. From the look on his face, he was ready for an excuse to escape her clutches.
I knocked on the open door.
âYou still coming, Dad? Or did you decide to stay with Mom?â I teased.
âOh, thatâs okay, sweetie,â Mom said. âYou go ahead and help Theo. Iâ ve got this.â
She looked at me and mouthed something about getting him out of her hair, and I just chuckled. We headed out of the packhouse and into the city. The meeting went well and was as enjoyable as always. We had some minor issues to address, but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a huge relief with everything else I had been juggling. When we were done, we stopped by the library to see how it looked now that the repairs were done.
I was able to upgrade the building a bit thanks to our successful second quarter with the business. We were admiring the work when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to find Sarah Walport.
âGood afternoon, Alpha Theo, Alpha Torin,â she whispered politely. âI donât mean to interrupt. I just wanted to say hello.â
âItâs good to see you, Sarah,â I said. I invited her to join me in one of the small meeting rooms off the main hall. âHow is everything going? Howâs your dad?â
âWeâre doing okay,â she said solemnly. âWe miss Mom, of course, but 51.55%

Randy had found the Waar Pak operative who was responsible for Mrs. Walportâs death. There wasnât a lot I could do without risking Randyâs âs cover, so I allowed him to take care of the issue himself. It was enough for me to be able to give Sarah and her father some peace, telling them that the culprit had paid for his crime.
âHowâs John?â I asked.
Her expression faltered for a second.
âSarah?â I pressed.
She shifted her weight from one foot to the other. âHeâs fine, I guess,â she said meekly. âI donât see a lot of him these days.â
âWhy not?â I asked. âAre you two not together anymore?â
â
Sarah shrugged. âIâm not really sure. He still comes home most nights, but itâs almost always late at night. He says heâs been hanging out with friends, but itâs not Nicky and the others. Theyâve said they barely see him, either. I just donât know what to ink a I sighed. âIâll talk to him and see whatâs going on,â I said.
Her shoulders relaxed. âThank you, Alpha,â she replied. âI just want to know that heâs not in any trouble.â
âSo do I,â I agreed. âIâll take care of it.â
