Chapter 176
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
O 10:49 Chapter 24: Ayla The dress fitting went wonderfully. Mina looked stunning and was going to be breathtaking at her ceremony. We all teared up more than once. We went out to dinner after, where I toasted my amazing cousin Mina, Annabelle, Maggie, and I went back to my apartment after dinner for a few drinks. We invited Luna Grace to join us, but she regretfully declined so she could get back to Alpha Torin.
We were sharing stories when Theo called. I grabbed my phone and rushed to the bedroom.
âHey, babe. How is everything going?â I answered eagerly.
âHey yourself,â he replied. I could hear the smile in his voice. âThings are... complicated. Weâve hit a bit of a roadblock.â
âOh no,â I said worriedly.
âItâs okay,â Theo assured me. âIt actually means Iâm coming home tonight.â
âReally?â I asked excitedly.
âYeah, but we have to transfer two of the rogues up there,â he said seriously. âItâs a long story and Iâll tell you when I get back.
But Iâm just getting the prisoner transfer secured, and then weâre going to head out.â
I glanced at the clock.
âItâs already getting pretty late, Theo,â I replied. âAre you sure youâre going to be okay to make the drive? Iâd rather you got some sleep and 0.00%

O 10:49 left in the morning.â
âI wouldnât,â I teased. âIâm not sleeping any better than you are, baby. Besides, Will and I are trading off. Iâll be fine. I promise.â
âYou better be,â I warned. âIâm ready for you to be home, but I need it to be in one piece.â
âI know, babe,â he chuckled. âI know. But let me get this finished up so we can be done. Iâll let you know when weâre on the road.
I love you.â
âLove you, too,â I said.
I hung up the phone and was instantly in a better mood. I rejoined the group, falling onto the couch.
âAnd hereâs the luckiest female in the pack,â Annabelle said. âHow is our super sexy Alpha?â
âAnnabelle,â I exclaimed. âWhat would Matthew think?â I teased.
âExactly what he already knows,â she said. âThat I have fantasized about our Alpha whenever Iâm mad at him.â
âAnnabelle,â I said again as the others laughed.
âDonât worry,â she continued. âI donât do it anymore. It lost its appeal when I saw how crazy he was about my best friend.â
My face turned red as I sipped my wine.
âHey, that doesnât mean weâre not all still wondering,â Mina said, shifting on the couch to face me. âHow is he?â
âOh, my goddess,â I groaned as I covered my face.

O 10:49 âAyla, sweetie,â Mina said, âI love you, and I realize you arenât used to this kind of girl talk, but... itâs time to spill.â
âLuna, donât let them pressure you,â Maggie said sweetly. âBut if you want to share... I donât think anyone here is going to stop you.â
We all laughed.
âFine,â I said, setting my wine glass on the coffee table. âHeâs fantastic.â
I didnât know a person could make the sounds that came out of their mouths. They giggled and teased and continued to make inappropriate comments about our sex lives.
âWhat about you, Maggie?â Annabelle asked. âAnyone youâve been passing the time with?â
Maggie hesitated.
âYou donât have to tell us.â I insisted. âUnlike these two. I donât mind if you want to keep your private life private.â
âItâs not that,â she said casually. âItâs just kind of... well... Iâve been seeing one of my squad members. Weâre not supposed to date within the group.â
âGirl, no one here is going to rat you out,â Mina said. âWe promise.â
Maggie looked content. I really enjoyed her company. I was grateful to Theo for assigning her to protect me. It was nice growing my circle of friends.
A twinge tugged at my chest as I thought about Emma. I missed her. We still talked once or twice a week, but it wasnât the same.
We kept saying we would plan a trip to see each other. However, we both knew 4006%

That wasnât a concern at all. But whether Kingston would give her a hard time or try to put her in a position she didnât want to be in was a concern for both of us. So, for now, I just had to be content with our phone calls.
âSo, when is our dashing Alpha going to return?â Mina asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
âHe actually should be on his way home any minute,â I said with a smile.
âI will give you this,â Annabelle said, âyouâve been handling his absence better than I did the first time Matthew and I were separated after marking each other.â
âOh. donât be fooled,â I interjected, âIâve been falling apart. It feels like Iâm going crazy sometimes with how much I miss him. I never thought Iâd need someone this much.â
âItâs the bond.â Annabelle said with a shrug. âIt will level out over time. But the first year or two is pretty intense. Especially when you get far enough apart. You know that feeling of emptiness when you canât feel them or sense them anymore?â
My brow furrowed. âNo,â I said. âI guess Theo wasnât so far away for that. Weâve still been able to sense each other.â
âYou said he went to Bonnerville, right?â Annabelle asked, sitting up straighter.
âYeah.â I nodded.
âThatâs almost four hundred miles, Ayla,â she said. âI lose my connection to Matty if he goes farther than a few hours.â

âMaybe you just thought you felt him because you missed him so much,â Annabelle tried to explain.
âMaybe, but he was able to feel when I cut my hand,â I told them.
âDamn, girl,â Annabelle breathed.
âTheyâve always had a strong connection,â Mina pointed out. âTheir bond has never exactly been normal. Theo could feel Ayla even when Harry had taken her.â
âHe did?â I asked.
âYeah.â Mina confirmed. âHe knew you were alive and he could tell you were tied up.â
âWait a minute,â Annabelle interjected, âwasnât that before they marked each other?â
âYep,â Mina said.
âShit,â she replied. âI guess you two really were meant to be together.â
âWere you doubting it?â I teased âAbsolutely not,â Annabelle replied with a bright smile.
