Chapter 139
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 139: Theo We drove to the address Harden had given us. It was an expansive country estate settled near the base of the mountains. We pulled through the gate and parked in the front. Randy and Alpha Harden met us out front.
âMs. Garner,â Harden said, taking her hand, âIâm glad to see you looking so well. I hope you are recovering from your ordeal.â
âI hear I largely have you to thank for that,â Ayla said kindly. âThank you for everything.â
Harden smiled at her. âMy assistance was never in question.â He addressed the rest of us.
âPlease, come inside. There is someone you all need to meet.â
We followed him inside and were led to a plush sitting room. There was a male waiting for us, looking over the contents of a folder he held in his broad hands. The man was huge. He was several inches taller than me and somehow broader, which was saying something. Iâd never been accused of being average, but this guy made me feel small. Noticing our arrival, he closed the folder and set it on the coffee table.
âEveryone,â Harden began, âthis is my brother, Alpha Cooper.â
âAnd this must be the Greytooth members causing such a stir these days,â Alpha Cooper said, stepping forward to offer me a hand.
I shook it firmly. âAlpha Theo,â I introduced myself. âThis is my mate, Luna Ayla.â

âYou, my dear, need no introduction,â Cooper said. âForgive me if I donât shake your hand. Iâm, unfortunately, unmated. Itâs probably best to avoid any complications.â
I instinctively pulled Ayla closer to me. The corner of Cooperâs lips twitched up at my reaction.
âPlease, everyone, come sit down.â He motioned us towards the couches. âIâm sure youâre eager to get more information about the situation.â
âAt this point, thatâs a bit of an understatement,â Ayla said. âFor starters, why would shaking my hand cause complications?â
We all settled into our seats. I couldnât help the desire to keep Ayla so close she was practically in my lap.
Harden answered. âMs. Garner, we know the stories about the Blessed One are new to you. We hope to provide you with more information, but we want to set some expectations. Much of what we know was gathered from the Waar P*k Society. Anything else comes from other obscure sources. Ultimately, everything is just theory at this point.
âOkay,â Ayla replied skeptically. âI guess Iâll let you decide where to start.â
âI suppose we should start by explaining why we know so much,â Alpha Cooper stated. âAs Randy and my brother have mentioned, I am the head of a covert group of agents that focus on the Waar P*k Society.â
âThe Onyxcrown Pack was a close ally of ours and friends,â Harden said. âI knew your father very well, Ms. Garner. It was personal and political for us. We also couldnât assume they wouldnât come after other packs. Finding the members was a slow process. As Iâm sure you 19.56%

âRegardless, we did manage to make strides, mostly over the past ten to fifteen years,â Cooper said. âWe started to infiltrate their ranks to find out what the society is actually about.â
âThatâs how we found out about the Blessed One,â Randy spoke. âThey have other objectives, but that one seemed to hold a specific importance to their practices. So I was tasked with focusing on that.â
âRight, a bedtime story that supposedly inspired mass murder,â Ayla said. âI understand the secret groups. Alpha Harden said something about the Dominis family making themselves kings. Okay, sure, I get why that would make people nervous and some delusional as***le took it too far. But that doesnât explain what it has to do with me. Someone believes that Iâm the Blessed One and I donât know if thatâs why all these things are happening to me or if itâs the other way around. Thatâs what I want to understand. I keep hearing all the words and details that make no sense and mean nothing to me. Thatâs what I want to know about right now.â
âLike how you could have more than one mate?â Randy said, eyeing me for a second.
Ayla shook her head. âI have one mate, Randy.â She sighed. âBut yes, why would others believe they could also be?â
âThe Blessed One is supposed to be the moon goddess reincarnated on Earth,â Cooper explained. âThe living embodiment of a true Luna. Any Alpha would be drawn to that kind of power. So, some versions of the story state that she would be the mate of all Alphas. After all, Alphas are Alphas by the grace of the goddess. I have to say, sitting in the room with you now, the theory is quite compelling.â

âBecause they all mention one true mate,â Randy stated. âThere was one Alpha who was destined to be the one who ruled with her. If she bonded with any other Alpha, it would be an inferior bond, marked or not. The bond with her true mate would break the prior immediately. Thatâs why I initially assumed you were her true mate.â
âAssumed?â I gritted out.
âWe first saw Ms. Garner with Alpha Kingston,â Harden said. âWe assumed she bonded with him first, then met you.â
âThen I found out you rejected her,â Randy interjected. âSomething that should have been impossible. I started to question that assumption.â
Ayla squeezed my leg in assurance, trying to calm the turmoil within me. Kieran was growling in protest, telling me he was wrong. Ayla and Dasha belonged with us.
âDonât worry, Alpha,â Randy insisted steadily. âHarry pretty much confirmed that you are Aylaâs true mate. Weâve been able to piece enough information together to support his belief. It also explains the lengths he went through to get you to mark someone else. He knew his own mark on Ayla wouldnât be enough. I think he was hoping if you marked someone else, you wouldnât recognize her.â
âEven though there was no guarantee we would ever meet,â I said solemnly. âHis attempts to keep us apart is what brought us together.â
âThe Alpha ceremony,â Ayla said, looking at me. âIf you hadnât been with Kylee, I still would have been at the Alpha ceremony.
We would have met then. He said he tried to get you with other she-wolves, but it 68.60%

I looked at her for a few moments. My chest tightened as I realized just how messed up our meeting was. I imagined how amazing it would have been to meet her the night I became Alpha. I kissed her forehead. I was just grateful we were together now.
