Chapter 14 – Warm Company

Early the next morning, when the sun was rising up, Chen Li woke up. The snow-white world made Chen Li’s eyes stunned, and then his eyes looked straight at the ceiling, there was no emotion in them.

At this moment, the door of the ward was pushed open, and Chen Li subconsciously shrank. The hand under the quilt was tightly clutching the quilt, and his godless eyes were full of wariness. However, the next second, it was a low and gentle voice that jumped into Chen Li’s ears.

Wei Chen carried a portion of porridge into the ward. Seeing that Chen Li was already awake, he put the porridge on the table next to the hospital bed and said softly, “Are you awake? Are you hungry? I made you porridge, get up and have some.”

Chen Li turned his head. When he saw Wei Chen’s face, the clenched hands under the quilt slowly loosened, and the look of vigilance in his eyes gradually disappeared.

Wei Chen had been paying attention to Chen Li’s expression. Seeing Chen Li’s appearance, Wei Chen was overjoyed and raised Chen Li’s hospital bed to make Chen Li sit up.

“Are you hungry?” Wei Chen opened the lid of the porridge, and the fresh smell immediately spread out. The tip of Chen Li’s nose moved, and his gaze fell straight on the porridge in Wei Chen’s hand.

Wei Chen didn’t let Chen Li wait either. He scooped up a spoonful of porridge and blew it gently. After feeling that the porridge was only slightly warm, he delivered the spoon to Chen Li’s mouth. It was obviously Wei Chen’s first time to do these caring actions, but Wei Chen felt that he was doing it incredibly smoothly.

Chen Li stared blankly at the porridge by his mouth, then at Wei Chen, before slowly opening his mouth and letting Wei Chen feed the porridge in. Without even chewing, he swallowed it directly, not knowing if he was hungry or did not know how to eat it.

“Eat slowly, there is no hurry.” Wei Chen saw that Chen Li swallowed it up. Fortunately, what he ordered today was porridge. If it was rice, wouldn’t Chen Li choke?

After that, Wei Chen himself ate a bite, deliberately slowed down his movements, taught Chen Li how to eat, and then fed Chen Li a second bite. Chen Li learned from Wei Chen this time, chewing slowly, his face was still blank, but Wei Chen felt that Chen Li relaxed a lot.

It wasn’t until he fed the last mouthful of porridge into Chen Li’s mouth that Wei Chen put down the box containing the porridge. He took a paper towel to wipe off the porridge stains at the corner of Chen Li’s mouth, lowered Chen Li’s bed, and finally rubbed Chen Li’s hair, “Have a good rest.”

Chen Li’s eyes stared straight at Wei Chen, and suddenly, Wei Chen understood what Chen Li meant, helped Chen Li tuck the corner of the quilt, and said softly: “Don’t worry, I will be here with you.” As if thinking of something again, Wei Chen looked into Chen Li’s godless eyes and said solemnly: “I will always be with you.”

Something seemed to flash in Chen Li’s big eyes, which was fleeting.

Although Wei Chen didn’t capture this emotion, he was a little happy in his heart. Does this mean that Chen Li will gradually let go of his guard for him and allow him to enter his world?

Unable to resist reaching out and rubbing Chen Li’s soft hair again, Wei Chen said, “Lie down for a while, I’ll take you out for a walk later.”

He didn’t know if Chen Li understood it, he actually took the initiative to rub Wei Chen’s hand, but his eyes were still fixed on Wei Chen.

Chen Li’s action surprised Wei Chen very much. The palm of his hand was gently brushing the top of Chen Li’s hair. Although he couldn’t make a smiling expression on his face, Wei Chen’s eyes were gentle as if he could drown Chen Li in them.

Wei Chen was about to take his hand away from Chen Li’s hair when Chen Li’s head shot upward, moving a little eagerly, obviously unwilling for Wei Chen to remove his hand.

“So cute.”

Wei Chen understood what Chen Li meant. Although there was no expression on his face, his tone was unconsciously stained with a smile.
