Chapter 18

I'm Sorry, Did You Say Mate?

I must say, I read through your comments and I get the silly grin on my face and people think I should be sent to the looney bin because there I am, sitting at my laptop with a dorky expression. I especially smile when I read that people make Wattpad accounts just to comment and vote for this story. That is just amazing so thank you. I dedicate this chapter to my fans, and everyone who wants Evan and Sutton together, I think your going to like this chapter :)

I've been really busy lately but I also really wanted to put another chapter up so this one is quite as edited so sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes.

P.S. I don't think I'll be able to upload until next Thursday, as this next week is busy too. I'll try and upload sooner but no promises.

P.S.S. I decided to upload a picture of Evan but I think it came out a little squashed. Sorry :(

Chapter 18

Sutton’s POV:

As we got out of the car, the music boomed from the house and people drunkenly stumbled from the house, some to vomit in the bushes before going back in to party some more, while other’s had drunk conversations with their equally drunk friends. I grimaced at the sight.

“Disgusting.” Lisa muttered as we walked into the house, passing by a vomiting girl. The house was hot from having so many people packed in but as far as I could tell, people looked like they were enjoying themselves. We found our way to the make-shift dance floor and stood on the fringes in a small huddle, watching the various costumed dancers. I glanced behind me to see Ellie looking around confused and smelling the air profusely. She got my gaze and sniffed once more.

“Do you smell anything…strange?” She asked.

“Like what?” The only thing apparent to me was sweat, alcohol, and the horrid stench of vomit.

“I don’t know. It’s hard to describe, but it’s so appealing.”  Well I guess we weren’t smelling the same thing.

Her eyes kind of glazed over when she said appealing and I recognized the look on her face. She appeared to be having some sort of conversation with her wolf.

“What’s your wolf saying?” I asked as I looked back over the party. I spotted Jason come from the kitchen, his head swinging around wildly. He was sniffing the air as well and looking around.

“She keeps telling me to find where the source is. She’s so excited. I don’t get it.” She shook her head thoughtfully. Jason passed by me, his eyes grazing over me before moving on. I was sort of surprised he didn’t comment on the length of my dress. I swear the guy can be such a dad with me sometimes.

I shivered suddenly and the pit of my stomach clenched. My palms began to sweat the slightest bit and my heart sped up a beat. My body tensed as I looked around. My skin prickled, and now it was me who was swinging my head around. Sometimes you just know there’s someone watching you. You get the feeling and can’t shake it. I was getting that feeling now and it was creeping me out. As soon as I’d walked in I’d felt a pair of eyes on me, but now I felt like someone wasn’t just looking at me. No, I felt as if someone were watching me.

“You ok?” Lisa asked, looking around for the cause of my alarm. She’s always had the knack for noticing my mood shifts.

“Yeah, it just…it’s nothing.” I murmured. I didn’t want to alarm her or anything. I tried calming myself down. You’re being paranoid, dumbass. Get a grip!

“You sure? You look like your giving yourself a pep talk.” Lisa commented.

“I’m fine, really,” I lied smoothly. “Let’s go get a drink.” I suggested.

I glanced once more around the room and stiffened. Across the room I could just barely make out a dark figure in a shadowy figure. Whoever it was stood facing me and I could feel the heat of their gaze. I had a feeling whoever stood in the corner knew I saw them because the next second, I blinked and all that was there was a shadowy corner. Empty with no one there. I involuntarily shivered. Kat this time gave me a curious look and looked over at the now vacant corner but I just shrugged and turned away.

As I was turning to walk into the kitchen I saw Jason looking towards me, still with a confused expression. I shrugged. Lisa followed me as we wound our way through the dance floor, Lilah and Kat close on her heels. When we walked in, I almost ran out and faced the creepiness of the dance floor rather than who was in the kitchen. I probably would have had he not looked up from his circle of friends and met my gaze. I gulped as we continued to lock eyes but a subtle throat clearing from Lisa broke the connection and I looked away, anywhere but him.

I picked my way across the floor and grabbed a red plastic cup, quickly filling it and then downing it. I repeated the process once more and vaguely heard Lisa and the rest of the girls strike up a conversation with the guys. The tingling from his stare never once faded as his eyes continued to bore into my back. I didn’t dare turn around for fear that I’d get sucked into his azure whirlpools once more. I was so fixated on my thoughts of not thinking about him that it shocked me when suddenly he was there. Right next to me, staring at me with lust in his eyes. The hand holding the cup shook slightly and I fixed my eyes on the cup. Distantly, I heard Lisa call out that they were going to go dance, but I was far beyond that.

The air shook with electricity and his gaze penetrated through me. I continued to avoid his eyed that were burning into me. The kitchen was quiet, save for the music that was coming loudly from the next room, and it occurred to me that it was just the two of us.

Stop being such a wuss! My wolf commanded.

“Sutton.” He whispered my name, so close that I could feel his warm breath on my cheek. I sighed quietly, contentedly. I’d had dreams of him saying my name and hearing it now, my body was floating on cloud nine. I frowned slightly at his next words. “Sutton look at me.”

“Please don’t.” I whispered. I didn’t want to look up because I knew if I did, I would like Evan even more. I couldn’t allow myself to like him more then I already do, it would just be harder when I had to wake up to the reality that he didn’t want me.

“Sutton.” He said, but I was already gone. I pushed myself away from him and propelled myself through a side door in the kitchen. I found myself in a hallway with closed doors leading to rooms. I looked to my right and saw another hallway that led outside and headed towards it. I was fighting tears but my body burned to go back to Evan and beg him to accept me. Pride. Pride. Pride. I chanted to myself. People don’t always get second chances, especially  if they’ve burned you this bad. I kept that mantra in my head, almost desperately,

He came out of nowhere, grabbing my arm and spinning me around to face him. Music still pulsed through the house but a little more quietly now. The only light came from the deck light that shown in through the French doors at the end of the hallway and from the end of the hallway where there was another hallway that led to the kitchen from the dance floor. I could see people moving back and forth, from the kitchen to the dance floor and back.

“Evan, please. Even if you don’t want me, you should at least care about hurting me. You’ve already wounded me, I can’t take any more from you.” I looked up at  him. Big mistake. I immediately lost myself in his eyes and the way his eyebrows furrowed as he so deeply concentrated on me. Lust was still clear in his eyes and from his expression I could tell it was in my eyes too. Goodness I wanted to kiss him so bad right now.

“Sutton, we should talk about-” I cut him off.

I didn’t want to hear him talk about how he didn’t want to be mates with me. I didn’t want him to tell me I wasn’t good enough for him. I didn’t want to hear anything from him right now. Knowing I’d probably regret this tomorrow, and knowing that the drinks I’d had probably played a hand in the audacity I suddenly had, I reached out and grabbed his head, bringing him down to me. He didn’t need any more indication from me and brought his lips to mine. My lord, his lips are deliciously soft. He backed me up slowly, pressing me against the wall without breaking the kiss. Our lips continued to mold together and he lightly ran his tongue across my bottom lip. I smiled under his mouth, keeping mine firmly. I couldn’t help but have a little fun with this. He tried again and again I denied him access. He growled lowly and I almost moaned at how sexy that sounded. His hands were pressed on the wall on either side of my head but I felt one of his hands move down and slide around my waist while the other moved to my back. Evan pulled me tighter to him and I could feel the hard muscles of stomach and I gasped at how good and right his body felt pressed up against mine. He wasted no time and quickly devoured my mouth with his tongue.

His hands moved over me, across my back and playing with my hair, cupping my neck. He wasn’t the only one exploring with his hands. My own roved over his back and up his neck, pulling gently at his hair. He growled in pleasure and I automatically pressed him closer, as if that were possible. We broke for air but his mouth continued to explore my body, moving across my face and down my neck. When he reached where my neck and shoulder meet he paused there and I clutched his shoulders as he sucked on that space. In that moment, I was sure I’d go further if things continued like this. I could feel his teeth grazing my skin and I was so turned on in the moment, it didn’t occur to me that anyone who was standing in the hallway at the end of this hall could easily see us. It apparently didn’t occur to Evan either as I felt his canines extend. I shivered, delighted at the feelings he was bringing on. I bit my lip in pleasure as his tongue rolled over my skin and I waited.

Evan’s POV:

I was kissing her! Man I wanted her so bad right now. Pressed up against the wall with her mouth moving against mine, my wolf begged me to take her. Her hands roamed by body and I groaned in her mouth, she had no idea how turned on I was. I could feel my wolf slowly take over, coming to the surface to claim his mate. Her hands pulled at my hair as I moved my mouth down her neck, leaving a trail of kisses. I reached the base of her neck and I stayed there, kissing the spot and preparing to mark her. The only thing consuming my thoughts was to mark her.]

Mark her! Mark her! Mark her as yours! My wolf howled at me. At the moment, he wasn’t getting any complaints for me.

My body roared, victorious at finally getting what I’d dreamed about every night. I’d woken up every day the past two months having to take a cold shower to calm my body down. My dreams were consumed by her and what we were currently doing. Though, in my dreams we usually went further than this. To be honest, the only thing stopping me from finding a room and ripping her clothes off was the fact that I really didn’t want to do it in some stranger’s house when countless people are around to accidentally walk in. My wolf didn’t exactly agree with that, but I had too much respect to just bang her in some random house just because we were both feeling it.

I’d been immediately aroused when she had walked into the kitchen earlier, her dress was short and showed a nice amount of skin. Come to think of it, I was doomed the minute she walked in. I had no chance when she looked as amazing as she did. My eyes had stayed on her the whole time, completely zoning out of the conversation the others had started.

Leave. Now. I want to have a talk with Sutton. I’d used the connection our pack had and spoke to them through our minds. Out of the corner of my mind I saw Lisa frown.

But, Evan you can’t. She started.

Lisa, leave. I said, using my Alpha voice. She had no choice but to obey her Alpha. She called out an excuse to Sutton but my then I was across the room and next to Sutton. I was sure that the close proximity was making Sutton a little dazed, as she didn’t respond to Lisa.

Next thing I know we’re in the hallway in a very heated make out session. She’s a much better kisser than Sadie, though I’ve barely kissed Sadie in the last two months. I felt like I’d be betraying Sutton if I kissed Sadie. The look on her saddened face just about broke me when she almost begged me to stop hurting her. I was about to tell her that I regret everything I ever told her about not wanting her when she grabbed me and brought my face down to hers. My lust driven body overruled my mind and quickly took over, kissing her. After a second though, there was no complaint from my mind.

As I licked the base of her neck she shivered in delight and I felt my canines extend. I was going to do it. I was going to mark her.
