Chapter 20- In Love

"Hello." I say shyly

"Come in sweetheart." She says warmly. Wade helps me to the sofa.

"Ma this is-" Wade says before his mom cuts him off

"Riley." She smiles

"How do you know?" He asks utterly confused

"Since the day Emily met her, she can't stop mentioning Riley. Plus she's the only girl you've ever spoken about." She grins and his ears turn red

"Maa." He sighs

"So you talk about me." I bump his shoulders and chuckle

"I heard that you had a rough couple of days. How are you feeling sweety?" I could just see how concerned she is.

"I'm still in pain, but I'll manage." I smile softly

"Aww hunny don't worry you'll get better in no time. Plus you'll have both Emily and Wade to take care of you. And you can stay as long as you want, I'll enjoy your company." She smiles

I wish my mom would be as caring as this, she didn't even phone me.

"Thank you so much." I whisper

"She's one heck of a fighter I tell you." Wade chuckles and I slowly smirk

"Wade take Riley to her room, she had a long journey so she needs to rest." She commands

"Okay but mom I drove so I'm also tired. Why aren't you telling me to rest?" He whines childishly

"Aww my big baby is upset because I'm worried about Riley more than him." She says in a baby voice and pinches his cheeks

"Yes momma." He sniffles. I just sit back and watch the scene unfold who knew Wade would be so dramatic.

"Okay my baby I suggest you see to Riley and make sure she's comfortable, then I'll make sure I..."

"You'll make a cup of your famous hot chocolate." His eyes widens and pouts.

"Of course not. You have to come with me to my next fashion show. Since you want me to give you more attention so why not go with me?" she laughs and walks into the kitchen

"Nah I'm good ma, you carry on." He says to her and shivers

"Bad experience?" I chuckle

"Let's not go there..." he shakes his head

Evangelene pops her head out of the kitchen and tells Wade to take me upstairs. In the corner of my eye I can see her smiling at us.

Wade lifts me up and carries me up the stairs. I didn't protest because I was too tired and my thigh was starting to burn.

"Wade."

"Hmm."

"Thank you for everything." I say and lean my head against his chest. His heart started to beat faster.

"No need to thank me." He smiles

He walks to the end of the hall and stops at a black door.

"Welcome to my room." Wade says and pushes the door

I was amazed his room was Black, White and Grey. Everything looked so extravagant yet so simple. His room was spotless and even had a small bookshelf.

I didn't realise I was sitting on the bed until Wade snaps his fingers in front of me.

"Enough with the ogling I know my room looks amazing but hey!" he chuckles and shrugs

"Well I didn't expect this and I think I should do some redecorating in mine." We laugh

There was a 2 minute silence, I was looking at my thigh and Wade just stared off in the distance.

"No one besides Emily and my mom have been in my room." He confesses

"Really? Well I feel special." I giggle

"I'll leave you to sleep, I'll get some painkillers and a glass of water. If you need anything just message me and I shall be right at your service." He smiles

"What would I do without you?" I smile

"Nothing." He whispers

"Thanks once again." We were inches apart

"No problemo my queen. This is actually cliché this is the part where I express my love for you." He chuckles and his eye had a sparkle.

"Hmm, but you too shy to do that." I chuckle

"Oh really, you'll be surprised with what I can do or say." He smirks

"I'll hold you to that." I smile. He winks and walks out.9.30am

Well that was brave of me. I sigh, these events from the past couple have days have been so hectic. At least this time I know I had someone by my side and to defend me. If I was alone I don't know in what condition I would've returned.

Evangelene is such a sweet lady, I'm looking forward to getting to know her. And I'm waiting to see Emily. That being said that painkillers will do me good now. Before I fell into a deep and peaceful sleep one thing floated in my mind.

I can't control my feelings anymore. I'm completely in love with him.

Wade's POV

I left Riley to sleep in my room because I know she won't get disturbed. I meant what I said no one has been in my room besides mom and Em.

I rather have Riley here at my house than at hers. I don't know I have a feeling like she's in constant danger when she's there. I don't know what's up with her family but I respect her enough to know if she wants to tell me about it then she will.

"Wade, I want to speak to you." Mom says

Questioning yayy.

"So Riley huh." She wiggles her eyebrows

"Yeah..."

"Beautiful she is hmm." She smiles

"Very." I muttered under my breath

"My baby is in love." She says softly and smiles

"What? No ma she's just my friend." I sigh

"A friend who has already met your sister and who's currently asleep in your room?" she crosses her arms

No use in hiding it now.

"Nothing's official yet." I say

"Well you need to work on that, just now someone will take her away from you. You know she's a beautiful young lady." She explains. I smile and hug my mom before going outside.

I have a spot at the far end of the garden out back where I sit to clear my thoughts. I sat on the bench and thought about what mom said. She's right I need to make my move before I regret it but it's sad to admit that I'm scared. Scared of rejection, but I'm going to man up and tell her. I'll ask Jayden to help me do something extra special for her.

I pulled out a box cigarette and lit one, I was highly stressed and confused. Why does Rileys stepfamily hate her so much? What happen to her father? So many questions left unanswered. But if I see Blade again I might just beat him up to a pulp. I'll just call Jayden and tell him about what happened.

******phone call*******

J- "Hello."

W- "Hey it's Wade."

J- "How ya doing? Long time no see, you kidnapped my baby" he whines

W- "I actually phoned you to tell you what had happened in these past two days."

J- "What happened to her." He panics

I go about explaining what happened.

W-"So after Blade knocked her out she was hospitalised. When we went back to Freddys, Blade tripped her and when she fell a wire pierced her skin and when he picked her up it ripped her flesh."

J- "Oh my lord, I'm literally speechless. I knew he was a heartless dog but I didn't expect this. Where is she? She can't go home in this condition-" I cut him off

W- "She's at my house, she's staying till she recovers. I need her here so I know she's out of harm."

J- "Can I visit her?"

W- "Come tomorrow one time I left her to sleep."

J- " Thanks for everything. Just don't tell her mom anything, I can't explain why but one day you'll understand."

W- "Don't mention it, no problem."

***end of call***

Now that that's done, I'll check on Riley. No wait, I need her to relax I can't disturb. It's almost time for Emily to come home, she's a little ball of sunshine. She'll keep Riley company and won't leave her side. She's smart so she'll understand that she has to be careful around her.

I pop a piece of bubblegum in my mouth before I go to my mom.

"There you are, I thought you went out. I was just about to leave." Mom says

"Can I pick Emily up today?" I ask. Seeing my baby sister will make me feel better

"Okay, just buy spaghetti when you returning."

My valet had my car ready so I grabbed my wallet and jumped in. Emily's school isn't far so I got there in a few minutes. There was a few cars parked, the bell rang and all the kids ran out.

Emily stood on her toes and looked for the car. She sees mine and looks at it confused, I step outside and remove my shades.

"Wadeyy!" she screams and runs to me

"Hello little princess." I pick her up and hug her tightly

"I missed you." She pushes my cheeks together

"And I missed you." She giggles and I laugh

I open the door and she sits and fastens her seatbelt.

As we drove to the shop Em told me about what she learnt in school.

"I have a surprise for you at home." I grin

"Is Riley there?" She asks. Pssh way to kill the surprise...

"You guessed it little angel. But Riley got hurt so she's sleeping at home." She frowns

"Can I look after her?" she asks hopefully

"Yes you can. But don't make too much of noise and don't jump on her bed."

"Okay." She grins

We went to the shop and bought pasta and a basketful of snacks. We usually have movie night so I'm going to make a cute fort for us tomorrow. Hopefully this keeps her occupied so she doesn't think about everything.

I carried the packets into the house while Emily carried her new colouring book. She runs to mom and hugs her.

"Hello my baby." Mom says. She jumps down and widens her eyes.

"Shhh mum, Riley is sleeping." Mom stood there stunned and I laughed. Emily turns around and hits my leg and tells me the same.

"Okay sorry." Mom whispers

"We'll help make the spaghetti." I say

"Alright, we'll make this just now and by supper if you are hungry you can have some snacks." mom says

When we were done cooking I went upstairs to wake up Riley. She was still asleep and she looked so peaceful and beautiful. Shaking my head, I sat by her leg and placed my hand on her arm.

"Riley." I called out twice. She stirred in her sleep.

"Riley." I say again and shake her a bit. She stretches and rubs her eyes.

"Hi." She yawns

"Hi love." I chuckle

"Mmm something smells nice." She takes a big whiff

"We made pasta." I grin and her eyes lit up

"My favourite." She closes her eyes and smiles

Mom walks in with two plates full of pasta, behind her comes Emily with two cans of coke. Riley saw Emily and she had a wide smile on her face.

"Emilyyyy." She opens her arms and Emily runs and hugs her

"Rileyy." She hugs her tightly

I sit back and admire them, I love them both so much.

Mom chuckles. "Riley eat your food and take your tablets." She tells her

"The food smells delicious, why you worried to bring the food here I would've came down."

"It's okay angel. You just enjoy your food and you have Wade to keep you company." Mom smiles

"Rileyy, I'm going to look after you." Emily smiles and twirls.

"Aww okay." She kisses Riley's cheek and leaves the room with mom.

We ate our food and had our drinks. I made sure to give her the tablets.

Riley really enjoyed the food and I was happy. We watched a few programs and started watching a movie until she fell asleep on my shoulder.

I moved slowly so I could let her sleep.

"Stay please." She mutters in her sleep

I covered her in the blanket before I also fell asleep.

I smiled because this is exactly how I'd like to end my day. One day this will be a regular thing, me sleeping next to the one I love.
