Chapter 17- Emily

"Message me when you get there." Mom tells me

"Okay." I slowly walk to my car dreading the day before me.

My mom had woken me up extremely early just to pack my bag to go to Fred's parents' house. I have no choice but to go stay at their house for a couple of days. Mom isn't concerned about school she's only worried about me visiting that 'family'.

I don't know whether I should be scared or angry that I'm going there. Plus I have to speak to Wade about yesterday, since I can't sort my life maybe I can help someone with theirs. I drove to a café and bought my coffee and muffin before heading to school. I was beyond annoyed at every robot the light turned red; I was getting tired of this.

At the last one a black BMW hooted and I peeped to see who it was. Wade smiled and to follow him.

We drove for 5 minutes before stopping.

"Hey love." He hugs me

"Morning Wade." I smiled into the hug

"Seems like you have a lot on your mind." He tilts his head to the side and softly smiles

"Yeah you can say that. I-I just don't know what to do." I sigh

"Want to talk about it." He offers a hand

I grasp his hand and walk towards a bench and sit down. I want to tell him what's troubling me but the same time I don't want to bore him with it. I hope he doesn't see me as weakling or something. I seemed hesitant to tell him at first but I felt I had to let this out.

"That guy you met at the movies is Fred and my mom is forcing me to go for a short holiday to visit his parents to spend quality time with them." I use air quotations

"I don't want to go there because lets just say they hate me. And it's worse for me because I'm going

to be alone. And you see the small scar near my eye, which I got it when Fred's nephew pushed me off the steps and I fell on a sharp iron which cut me." I continue to ramble

You could see how angry he was, he was quiet for a minute but before he asked a question which I

had difficulty replying to.

"Do they hurt you in any way?" he watches my reaction after saying that. I froze and shivered.

How on Earth was I suppose to answer. If I say yes I don't know how he'd react, if I say no he'll say that I'm lying.

"I have my answer." He nods and clenches his jaw.

"You know yesterday when I saw you upset I wanted to check up on you but I chose not to. You needed space to cool off." I said

"Yeah, I just had some stuff to deal with but your company would've been better." He smiles

"Well if you need anything just let me know." I smile softly

We sat in silence for a minute; Wade had this look on his face like he's battling to decide on something.

"If I may suggest this... It would be better for you if you'd have company; I mean I'd be more than

happy to accompany you." He scratches his head

I was at loss for words. Never would I expect him to say that, it was very generous of him though.How could I refuse his offer? But Fred's family if different and I wouldn't want him to be treated like how I am.

"Thank you for your offer, I really appreciate it but I don't want you to be treated like how I-" he cuts

me off

"Riley I don't care how they treat me; I just want to be there for you. Plus I'll handle them and either way I'm coming with you so end of discussion." He literally commands

"So bossy." I mutter and laugh

"I heard that." He bumps my shoulder and laughs

I just hope everything goes well and that nothing bad happens. Maybe with Wade by my side everything will be better.

"We can take my car so you can park yours at my house. I'll just pack my bag and we can head to..."

he speaks so confidently until he realises he doesn't know where we going. I giggle.

"His parents live in Greytown so it's like a 2 hour drive from here." I tell him

"I got some family there I think. Anyway lets go you can meet my baby sister." He says and chuckles

We got in our cars and I followed Wade to his house. He said I can meet his sister, is it normal to be

panicking like this? I mean she's small so it won't make a difference. I was overthinking this situation

because before you know it we were parked in the driveway and heading towards the front door.

"Wadeyyyyy!" a little voice exclaims and snaps me out of my thoughts

"Hello my little Queenie." Wade crouches down and kisses her forehead.

"Eww no Wadey." She giggles

She sees me standing and smiling at them. She hides behind his leg and whispers.

"Wadey is she your girlfwiend." She asks innocently. Wade lets out deep chuckle.

"Not yet." He whispers back to her and winks. I stand there dumbly and blush.

"Hi." She walks towards me smiles

"Hi there pretty angel." I crouch down and smile. She smiles and hugs me and pokes my cheek.

"Wadey her cheeks are red." She smiles and pokes it. Wade being the idiot he is laughs.

"Be nice and look after Riley for me okay?" He tells her. She jumps and grins

Wade goes to pack his clothes while I play with his sister. Emily is just too adorable and she's quiet

smart.

"Can I tell you a secwet. *she walks to me and whispers in my ear* Wadey likes you." She grins

and giggles

"It will be our little secrete." I smile and chuckle

"Your chain is so pretty." She smiles and touches it

I took it out and put it on her. It was a gold chain with a dolphin pendant.

"Well now it's yours angel." I smile when I see her face light up.

"Thank you!" She cries and hugs me tightly. Oh god she's so tiny but so strong, she squeezed me and I could hardly breathe.

"You are most welcome little Queen." I grin

"I am a princess and you are a queen. And Wadey is your king." She giggles

I just looked at Emily and smiled she's just too adorable. Plus she's making me think about me being queen and Wade being a king. She's in grade 1 yet she's so smart.

Emily told me about her different Bratz dolls and she even told me some things about Wade. Like he loves chocolate chip cookies and he likes red. She's talkative but I already love her.

"What are my favourite girls doing?" Wade walks down and smiles

"I'm showing Wiley the pictures." Yeah she calls me Wiley. And by pictures she means the family album. I saw soo many pictures of Baby Wade I even took out a picture of one.

"Emily why would you do that." He frowns and covers his face.

"I love youuuu." She giggles

"I love you too Queenie." He chuckles

"But I love Wiley moooore." She runs and hugs my leg

Wades face was priceless; I burst out laughing because he was so shocked.

"My sister spoke to you for less than an hour yet she loves you more than me. How rude." He mutters. Aww Wadey is jealous.

"I can't help it if I'm so loveable." I flip my hair and wink

"Wadey I am Wiley's princess and she is the queen." She stands on the sofa and explains. Wade crosses his arm and pays attention.

"She can't be a queen without a king." He smirks

"That's why you are her King." She grins and giggles

Wade looks at me and smirks, he's proud she said that.

"Aren't you a smart princess?" He chuckles

"Look at my chain." She jumps off the sofa and jumps in front of him until he looks at the chain.

"This chain looks familiar... Emily did you take Riley's chain?" he raises an eyebrow

"She liked it so I gave it to her." I tell Wade

"You shouldn't have." He says

"I wanted to."

I gave Emily a big hug and told her I'd see her soon. I put my bag in Wade's car and we were on our way.

"Emily is so adorable." I chuckle

"She has to be because she's my sister. I mean look at me." He wiggles his perfectly shaped eyebrows

"Oh shut up." I shook my head

"Did she tell you anything about me...?" He asks slowly

"Hmm, she said that you love chocolate chip cookies. Isn't that cute?" I poke his dimple

"Don't tell that to anyone." He warns. I hold my hands up in surrender.

"Wasn't planning on bad boy." I chuckle

The trip to Greytown was never ending don't get me wrong I love long drives but I think I was just annoyed that the destination wasn't worth this time.

We drove to a familiar road and we reached Fred's parents' house.

I started to panic and I couldn't breathe. This is all too much for me, even Wade started to panic because he didn't know what to do. I drank some water, wiped my stray tears and drove into the driveway.

A familiar face walked out and once she saw me her face turned sour. I stopped Wade from walking

once I saw her; he stood by the car where she couldn't see him.

"I thought you would've done me a favour and not come back here." She hisses

"I had no choice but to come here. Your son and my mother had forced me to come visit you." I said to her emotionlessly

She pulls my hand and threatens me.

"Try your tricks like last time and I'll beat you up like there's no tomorrow unde-"

"I don't appreciate you speaking to her like that." Wade walks up to us and says

"Excuse me who are you? What I do with 'my granddaughter' is none of your business." She spits

"I am Wade Smith Riley's friend so if I were you, keep your distance from her." He says

"Or else what?" she presses

"Diane will know of how she's being treated." I didn't even know how Wade knew my mom's name.

She makes like a growling noise? Only god knows how that animalist noise came out of her.

"Welcome to my home Wade and Riley." She says to us and rolls her eyes

The thing about this this family is they don't consider me as their own so they make me address them using either their first name or their surname Davies.

How on Earth can a lady her age have the energy to hate and hurt someone? I thought old people are loveable but seems like I'm totally wrong.

"This is why I didn't want you to come." I whisper

"We'll get through this together." He holds my hand and smiles

We walk inside the house and everyone stops talking. Once they realised who I was they either frowned or had looks of disgust.

This is going to be a very long day. I closed my eyes for a brief second just to say a quick prayer. Wade squeezed my hand and gave me a nod.

"Hi everyone, I know you don't want me here but me-I didn't have a choice. These next two days I'll stay out of your way so you don't need to worry about me. This is Wade he came to keep me company." I said looking at the floor

"Nonsense Riley dear we are glad to see you. Nice to meet you Wade." Fred's sister says

I look at her a bit confused as to why she's being nice then she widens her eyes and shakes her head.

They putting on an act to show Wade they love me.

"We're a bit tired so can you show us our room?" Wade speaks

"Riley take him to your room he can sleep on the couch." She says

We both go upstairs and fall flat on the bed.

"I feel like going home." I look at Wade

"Me too. But lets make the most out of this trip because it's just the two of us." He says and sings

the last part

We both chuckle before falling into silence.
