Passing by trees as tall as sky scrapers, thick with their wooded trunks and leafy green canopies overhead, the drive leading up Dark Moon territory was beautiful. So many more trees than we had at Cresent or at Blue moon.
"Wow." I breathed, my eyes wide as Maxim's suv lead the way, many, many vehicles following behind.
"You like it?" His was curious, sparing a glance my way to gauge my reaction. I nodded with my eyes still wide as they focused in front of me.
Overhead, trees from both sides met in the middle at their tops, bowing over and forming a sort of bridge above us with flowering vines hanging all around.
"I think you'd really like it here. You know.. if you decide you wanted to come here to live.." his voice soft, taking in me while i took in everything around us.
Biting my bottom lip, i didnt reply. I felt as if it were something that didnt need my answer. Just a guess on his part. Maybe hope.
It took is nearly a miles worth of scenic driving before we were pulling up to a HUGE stone castle-esque mansion.. estate.. whatever you could call this. It was an old fashioned stone mansion in the woods that could easily pass for a small castle. Pillars that reminded me of ancient castles ive seen in history books.
Stone Gargoyles sat on the roof top looking out and also two sat along pillars that led to the stairs of the mansion. It was so freaking amazing, like a wonderland. Maxim pulled into the giant circular shaped driveway and i clung to the window like a puppy needing air, too amazed with what i was seeing.
"What the fúcçk Maxim. What the hell is this place!?!?" I was awestruck.
"This is the pack house." He was silent for a moment as was I. Then i turned around, whipping my head towards him , my long blonde locks swirling over my shoulder.
"Are you kidding me? This is your pack house?" My tone had risen an octave.
Maxim turned the ignition off, quietly staring at me before he nodded. "Do you like it?"
"Like it? I want to marry it and have babies with it!" I gazed back out the window.
I probably should not have said that. Why do i cringe at my own words.
Maxim cleared his throat. "I'll show you the inside next time we come. But the funerals are going to be held across the river so we-"
"A river!?" I exclaimed, finding his amused eyes.. bright glacier blue.. like shards of crystals reflecting tropical waters in his irises.
I wanted to marry this male already and i havent even kissed him..
Calm down eden. Calm down. Its just a house.
I let out a breath then laughed lightly, blushing slightly at my stupidity. "Sorry.. ive just never seen anything like this." I shrugged as Maxim had one arm leaning aganst the door, chin resting in that very hand as he reguarded me.
I flipped down the mirror checking mt lipstick before flipping it closed and turned to face him. "We can go now." My cheeks were tinted still.
Maxim had seriously long lashes for a male. He was quite striking. Beautiful even. I bet before he was ever muscular, he had a beautiful boyish face. Full lips.. a straight nose that had been broken but only added to his appeal. The more i looked at him the more I wanted to just get out of the car because I was starting to feel strangled by the closeness.
Then i remembered.. this is going to be hard for him. Im such an idiot. These funerals.. they are his pack. Why do i forget he is an alpha sometimes?
"Maxim?" I spoke quietly, hearing others began to park around behind Maxims suv.
He rose a brow and i placed my hand on his right one which rested on his knee. "I know you are going to have a hard time today but like you are here for me, ill be here for you too even if i cant hold your hand." For good measure, i turned his hand over and held it, his fingers instantly laced between mine and he pulled in a breath of air... his eyes peered down at our hands and flicked back over at my face.. settling on my lips which made them feel hot and i suddenly really wanted to get out of here.
"I can make everything calm if you need me to.. with my energy." I whispered, smiling before openeing my door a bit and glancing back. "You ready?"
He snapped out of whatever daze he was in, nodding as my hand left his and we were both out of the car in seconds.
Why does he make me feel so attracted to him? He is always looking at me. Always finding me somewhere as if he is drawn to me..
I worry that i smell of him..
I hope Blue Moon doesnt notice our strangeness around each other.
Maxim walked just slightly in front of me, his tall figure striding around the side of the packhouse which i couldnt take my eyes off of.
He glanced back, noting my gaping up at the micro castle.
Feet fell behind us as more wolves followed Maxim's lead.. heading down the hill and into the backyard and a gasp left my mouth when my eyes rested on the valley of land with a slow flowing river right in front of us. A dock with ten large ferries stationed that could easily fit 100 wolves.
"Oh my goddess." How had no one spoken of this pack lands beauty to me before?
Maxim's head turned just slightly and he smirked. Alphas loved when you were wowed by their land. Makes them feel that pride. I could sense that pride seeping out of his skin, my senses being on par with an Alpha as well.
Teeth held my lip between them so my smile wouldn't burst just as bodies brushed mine and i looked from left to right to see Grace and Nova walking on either side with a small smile.
"Hey." I greeted them just as Nic and Zaryn walked ahead of us to walk side by side Maxim.
"Is X okay Nova?" My words were whispered. I didnt want him to hear.
She leaned in, contemplating her words. "Hes trying.. but.. i dont know. He might need the extra help.. one that you can provide." She meant my power of being able to bring a peacefulness to my surroundings.
"No problem." My smile was soft.
Grace kept turning her head around, looking for someone.
"What is it?" I frowned.
Her usually delicate brown eyes were now hard. "I keep seeing that wolf. Bane. The one who killed dad. I dont know if i can stand it Eden." Her words were gritted out between teeth of a clenched jaw.. i could sense her wolf on edge and that rarely happened.
Inhaling sharply, i had forgotten about him. Until now. "He will not take Conrad's spot, Grace. Blue moon would never have it. You know that." I was sure of that much. Something would happen once he came on that land. I could almost feel it.
"I know." She whispered. "And i can't promise it wont be me." She sighed, rubbing her temples.
Nova leaned in just before we reached the docks. "Grace.. try to hold it in at least for the cermonies to be over with okay?"
"Why?" Grace's brows furrowed together in a hard frown.
"Just trust me. I have a feeling."
Our fronts nearly bumped into backs once the males before us came to a hault and Maxim turned slowly, peering down at me before up to the crowd of wolves from all three packs.
He cleared his throat, "Our pack land cemetery is held across the river." He bellowed, "We will take the ferries there." His Alpha tone was so much deeper than the softer tones he used with me.
One by one, wolves boarded the large ferries. They werent the extremely large kinds youd see, but a smaller version of such. For Maxim to own ten, his pack must be doing quite well.
Sadness in the air was thick as Nova, Grace and I wandered past wolves from all three packs, finding a place to sit on the deck. A sectional covered in outdoor material with shading overhead. We took a seat, Nic, X and Maxim close by so the former two could keep an eye on their mates however, i noticed Maxim kept stealing a glance from me.
I felt uncomfortable. I didn't actually know what to think. My words to him in the car before, were supposed to be words of encouragement to a friend because i knew he needed someome today too.. he was selfless enough to ask to be my person today so I returned the favor.
I couldn't help being attracted to him but today was about paying respects to the dead. My boyfriend being one of them. I felt confused. All i ever was to males was a piece of ašš. Someone to practice on. Always being left with a broken heart the next day.
You could say i have issues. Because i just kept repeating my mistakes.. letting another in only to find them gone in the morning.. and another.. and another. Soon I realised i would never have a at least a boyfriend because they were all waiting for their mates one day.
My confidence sky rocketed but my self esteem on the inside took.a dive. I knew i could get males but i couldn't keep them..
Until Conrad came along and he saw something in me. We made each other happy.
Now he's gone and im left alone once again, with another Alpha, his cousin, setting eyes on me and it felt so wrong but so right.
Whatever. This day belongs to the dead.
But my vision of me with Maxim's wolf still played in my mind.
Whatever. I was here to respect Conrad and the rest of the fallem warriors.
I hoped the mutt who killed him gets what he deserves and if i know the moon, he will.
"Are you hanging in there, Ede?" Nova whispered, lingering closely as Grace huddled in, the three of us seeming suspicious to anyone else.
I was about to speak until a female with a uniform on came by with a tray of wines and beers. Gladly, i took two glasses of the reisling for myself. I would need it today. Grace took a blush zinfandel and Nova shook her head, opting to drink from her bottle of water what with her pup in the oven.
Once we thanked her, took a long gulp.
Sighing, i glanced at Grace. "I just have a lot im fighting with on this... with Conrad.." my eyes teared. For the first male who treated me as something more than a good lay. He treated me like i was everything to him which only reminded me how strong i needed to be when it came to these deep seated feelings i harboured for Maxim.
Nova gave a tight lipped smile, clutching my hand in hers as Grace sniffled, her eyes becoming hazy with moisture.
"Eden" Grace whispered and i looked into her sad brown eyes. "I know you loved dad. I do. He loved you too. Just be strong for today okay? I know what you're thinking. I do." Her eyes darted to Maxim. "And its okay. It is." A tear rolled down her cheek.
Letting out a shaky breath, i wrapped her in a hug. "Im so sorry you lost him too. Lets try to be strong right now before the dam breaks once we arrive at Blue Moon." My whisper was shaky.
She nodded, pulling me away only for me to be pulled into Nova who rubbed my back as i wrapped my arms around her.
"I have to be by Zaryn's side for this one, but i promise you ill be there for you at Blue Moon. Ill be there for the both of you." She moved to give a meaningful glace at Grace.
"You females alrigh?" Nic approached the table, a worried look in his concerned green eyes as he assessed Grace's blurry eyed state.
"Fine Nic." Nova sighed, eyeing her brother, my ex almost baby daddy. It was crazy to think how i worshiped him when i was a juvenile. "We are just having a girl moment."
Glancing up, i saw Maxim staring at me with his hands in his pockets beside Zaryn. His features were set in that scowl of his but his expressive eyes told me everything: he was concerned. For me. Not even a day ago I was wrapped in Conrads arms without a worry.
How can two Alpha males find me worthy of something more? First Conrad and now Maxim?
He was a friend to me today.
Just a friend.
That's all ive ever known him as aside from our almost one night tryst.
I sent him an apologetic smile before he glanced down at his shows, his brows furrowing even more.
Taking a deep breath, I let out the hard sigh.
This was more than just a hard day for me. It was a hard day for everyone.
Time seemed to progress amd before i knew it, we were docking and getting off the ferry. I tried to hold in my wide eyed surprise at the vision in front of me.
It was a cemetery alright..
But you had to walk up a path to get to it on this island land and giant wrought iron gates stood in the way before opening, allowing the beauty of the land to be seen.
A peaceful resting place for the dead.
Willow trees were scattered along with japanese cherry trees, japanese maples, mimosa tree, every kind of beautiful and fragrant tree or shrub you could think of.
Maxim led us up the path, looking back at me every now and then. We passed monuments.. statues.. Dark Moon buried their dead differently. While some were cremated, like other packs, the Alpha pair and other higj ranking officials along with close family were put into the ground.
I never saw the grave of Maximus, his father. But instead, a plaque, black like onyx with only his name on the front with his birth and death date displayed near a bush, hidden from the eye.
Obscured.
No burial for him. Cremation with a memorial pack, only because he was an Alpha. Maxim didnt want him to be remembered..
Maxim led us across a japanese style bridge that the stream flowed beneath, connecting to a small waterfall with a koi fish pond at its base.
This was a beautiful place. There was no denying it.
We were led up man made nstural stone steps all the way to the peak of the granois island, a weeping willow at its top. There was where the procession was to be held.
A broad black canopied tent settled over the flat part of ground, chairs all around but not enough for these hundreds of wolves.
The had never had a funeral with more pack members from other packs. But now we were allies. And they had all fought together as one. Lost together. So they suffer together. We suffer together.
The pack healer was busy with her smudging sticks and incense as we all filed through, under the tent that obscured us from the sun which had decided to peek out between clouds for just a moment until more would pass through.
I felt i shouldn't sit. That should be dark moon. I found a spot near the edge of the tent away from the seats close by the front, out of the way. Grace and Nova came to stand beside me while their mates were having a conversation with Maxim.
"Is Gabriel going to come?" Grace whispered.
I glanced around, nodding my head. "Maxim said he'd be here."
"This is going to be so hard for him." Nova sighed, closing her eyes momentarily before Zaryn came towards her and took her by the hand, standing to her right... his eyes strained as they focused on one of the three caskets sitting there for all of us to see.
Penelope Bennett.
She had taken Gabriel's last name.
I noticed Zaryn shaking slightly out of the corner of my eyes, Nova rubbing his back soothingly as she held his hand with her other hand crossed over to him.
It was going to be so hard on him..
Nic came to stand next to Grace on the end, taking her hand in his out of a premature habit and Maxim glanced up at me.. a wary expression on him i had never seen before as he stood stoic at the front of the makeshift stage where the podium stood. I smiled softly, my brows knitting.. he was experiencing pain.
Pain from his pack. From his wolf. From himself, not being able to save his pack from losing these forty something souls.
I mouthed the words. It will be okay.
And breifly.. just breifly he smiled with a twitch at the corner of his mouth.
The seats were filling up with Dark Moon.. crying mates and pups. Some mates already newly mated, some from warriors who had families. The other packs stood respectfully at the area surrounding the cermony, hundreds of wolves standing around.. females who had just found their mate at that bloody massacre, crying.. bawling as their deceased mates parents held them.. accepting their lost loved ones mates with open arms.
This was the most sorrowful funeral I had seen. And i had thought ours was horrible..
But i think Blue Moons will be worse by far because of their Alpha being gone..
"We are gathered here today." Maxim spoke without a mic, his deep voice booming over the crowd. "To mourn and honor these brave souls who lost their lives on what was supposed to be a joyous day." He paused as greif stricken pack members cried out in tears. "These warriors were not only brave and courageous in a war that Moon Stone had put upon us, but some of them left behind mates as well.. and some had only just met their mates." More loud sobs from females and family members. Eyes flashed at Bane, the prisoner wolf and I too found myself raising my lip at his flinching form across the way.
My heart ached for these wolves..
To have a mate.. only to meet him and have him taken away from you...
"And some of these females had just met their mates as well.. some met the moon with them and some were left behind. To mourn their loss." A few of the males in the crowd trembled, not bothering to hold back their tears.
Maxim looked unsettled, unable to speak as he gripped the podium with white knuckles and Zaryn was shaking harder than before.
I closed my eyes, letting my energy surge from my pores and my fingertips.. calming the vibration of sorrow in the air. I could feel my power increase as i felt more pain in my heart.. billowing the calm out to wrap around every wolf here, more towards Maxim and Zaryn.
Opening my eyes, bright crystal blues stared back at me softly. Mouthing thank you, Maxim cleared his throat. Continuing just as Nova sent me a soft thankful smile.
"As your Alpha.. i promise to protect you at alll costs. But when something this.. tragic happens.. it not only hurts you, but it pains me as well. You are all my pack. My family. And those of you who have suffered greatly.. I will make sure that you are taken care of. Your loved ones will find peace with the moon." His eyes were turning glassy and i felt compelled to go to him. Something inside me pushing but my feet stayed rooted to the ground.
Maxim hung his head before looking out at all the sufferage. "The mates these wolves left behind, you will all be taken care of as well. New and old. Let us begin the ceremony."
Maxim came off the stage to stand in front of us near the edge, obscuring me from the crowd whose eyes weren't on us anyways. His hands were locked behind his back, one reaching out for me for only my friends beside me to see and without a thought, i took it.. holding it in mine. Giving him soothing comforting touch.
Touch for wolves was something important. A wolf needed to feel that from another whether it be male, their mate, or even a friend.
I could hear the healers speech but saw nothing but the broad muscled back in front if me, the black button up he wore fitting snugly against his body. Small waves of slow comfort ran through the sparks coming from our touch and i gasped in surprise, my eyes wide.
Where did this spark come from? It hadn't been there before. I had felt something like a humm before but this was different. Were our wolves really imprinting on each other?
He noticed it too because i saw his chest expand, inhaling sharply before his body visibly relaxed, thumb stroking my wrist.
I could hear the healer tell the deceased wolves loved ones to come collect their urns which left three caskets. Moving to the side a little so I could see, I watched as more sobbing filled the air and Zaryn's body shook beside Nova so much I felt the air vibrating with the wolf wanting out to protect his skin sides mind. Nova grabbed his hand, moving it to her stomach which eased him..
I can only imagine what he's going through. My parents? Well lets just say thats a touchy subject.
Maxim let go of my hand before a soft squeeze and he approached the podium once more as Zaryn left Nova's side, walking towards his mothers casket.
A casket made of earth friendly materials so the bodie can be fully taken into the earth as they decompose.. letting mother nature work her course.
The air waa suddenly filled with static and my eyes turned to the source of the disruption of air.
With wide eyes, I watched Gabriel take wide strides up to the gathering of wolves who parted for him, head bowed. Gabriel was in a black button up as well but with white pin stripes. Black suit pants and black shiny dress shoes. His hair seemed as if it had been pulled at and his eyes were red and puffy, a grim expression set hard on his face.
In his hand he clutched a dozen bright blood red roses and a bouquet of lilacs. Her favorites i suppose.
Maxim haulted his movements as Gabriel appraoched, passing Maxim and going straight to the closed casket Penelope's body rest in. Her pup? Her pup lie in some wolf's body which had probably been digested by now. The thought sickened me to no end. Whoever that wolf was... he would die if he isnt dead already.
Gabriel ignored Zaryn's presence on the other side of the casket as he placed the flowers on top.. tears leaking from his eyes as he closed them and knelt to the ground.
Nova grabbed my hand as we watched the scene before us unfold. Those males needed this moment to themselves. They needed to say their goodbyes..
The hardest thing for any wolf to do.
Say goodbye.
â¡Â°â¡Â°â¡
NOVA
My eyes stung, watching my mate kneeling on the ground beside his mothers casket, opposite of Gabriel.
Both of them losing this female who was vile but who had given one life and the other her heart. Even after years of suffering on his part.
But its wrong to speak of the dead with anything other than good memories.
Zaryn teared up and i could feel that pain in my chest.. the one from him. His pain. It became mine.. all of his thoughts and feelings did the moment we mated.. the distance and my hatred when i left were the only things that kept my wall up from sensing him at all.
But now that wall was completely down and i would leave it down.
He is my everything and his pain should be mine.
Gabriel let out a mournful howl, his head thrown back before falling forward, body wracking sobs controlling him.
Zaryn's hand landed on top of his over the beautiful flowers and i had to cover my mouth to keep from weeping while my tears were hot on my cheeks.
Gabriel lifted his head, eyes meeting Zaryn's in a fleeting look. They shared something. They lost someone they loved.
The general who trained him now shared love for the same person as he did.
The father of Zaryn's unborn little brother who never got a chance at life.. ripped from the womb because the moon had wanted it to be so.
Together they stood and Zaryn went around to Gabriels side, embracing him hard with slaps to the back..
My heart wrenched at the sight..
They were saying something to each other of which i couldnt hear due to the emotional distress at the ceremony from other wolves but Zaryn nodded his head, saying something to Gabriel who shook his.
I couldn't stand it anymore when Zaryn released Gabriel and Maxim turned, bringing him into a hug. I had to go to Zaryn. The need inside me to be with him right now overtook every one of my nerves.
Walking up to him, his eyes found mine, shining with how much moisture had collected and fallen. Immediately my arms went around his waist and his over my back.. hugging my close as he put his face in the crook of my neck to inhale my scent.
"Im so sorry Zaryn." My words muffled, murmured into the side of his neck.
He didn't reply but instead, squeezed me tighter.
We moved to the side of Penelope's casket, to the corner of the tent where we weren't at the center of everyone's attention. Zaryn's hands were shaking as they held me and i turned in his arms, pulling him forward and down so his head rested on my shoulder and arms were around my waist. I felt him duck his head and press his lips to my mark.. his breath hot against my skin.
He was experiencing the loss of his mom and as an Alpha, he wanted to remain unphased but the pup inside him which had grown up thinking his mother was an amazing female... thats the part of him i was feeling inside of my chest.. that ache.
The one that never goes away when you experience losing someone so close but there are feelings that were never resolved once they have passed.
Its always important to talk things through with family, im learning. Because now Zaryn was seeing the downside of not doing so.. he never got to tell his mother that he loves her..
But im sure she knows.
I glanced to my left over at Eden who stood mere feet away from us with my brother and Grace, raising my brows in a pleading way which she immediately understood.
She closed her eyes to concentrate just as Gabriel turned from Maxim.. touching Penelope's casket so gently.. forcing himself to remain still, his eyes scrunched closed.
The atmosphere around us shifted and i felt the calmness ensnare every wolf in the viscinity.
I was good with my words and actions but Eden.. she had real power. She could make others feel that peace.. or her wrath. Depending on which she chose.
I noticed Maxim peer up at her, his crystal eyes looking as if she were an amazing creature. He mouthed his thanks to her and she replied with a soft and sad smile. My once glamourous diva of a best friend was now doing things I'd never thought she would do. Like fall in love with conrad.. use her power for more wolves than just her close friends.. she had changed and matured.
The healer was proceeding with the burials.. announcing them as two large males came to take the Beta's casket, carrying it over to the designsted grave follwed by his mate's casket which was to be placed beside his own.
Mates are always placed together when they go to meet the moon.
Maxim moved to the podium once Gabriel became more alert, his wolf panicking..
His mate's burial was to be placed next.. eyes wide as he clung to her caskett like static. Not wanting to say goodbye. The calmness that enveloped us though, had taken him to a different level just as it had Zaryn.
"I have one more thing to say." Maxims deep tone stopped the crowds movements and all eyes were on him. He glanced at Eden for support i noticed. That was something he had done often.
"As some of you know, ive aquired a new title. I defeated Alpha Reynold, making me Alpha of Moon Stone. The deed to the land is here. In my hand. Signed by me." He scanned the wolves as gasps echoed around.
This was big. I don't know how or when Maxim made time to do this.. or why he is mentioning it now.. but it sirprised us all that he had made the time to figure this all out.
Everyone including Eden and Zaryn were surprised he had already aquired the title due to her wide stare and my mates slow intake of air beside my neck.
"But." Maxim turned to Gabriel, his lips pursing before realisation dawned on Gabriels look of desperation. "I already have a pack. And i dont need this title. I dont want this baggage. Gabriel. You are not only my friend." Maxim stepped down, his eyes never leaving Gabe's. "But you are also the best General i could ever ask for. You have taught this pack well. The strongest wolf besides myself of course. I.. I had thought of giving you my beta position but.. you are above that Gabriel. You should have had your own pack to run ages ago. You started from the bottom and you fought hard. So hard to be at the top and here you are."
Gabriels wide dark eyes were looking at Maxim in a way that said he couldn't believe what he was hearing.. male power whipping around like a whip.
"Old friend." Maxim whispered, holding Gabriel's shoulder as he watched, dumbstruck. "This is not out of pity i do this. Im giving you this because you deserve it and i really want you to have it. No one else. Because no one deserves to be Alpha more than you do. You have the strength.. you have the dominance that wolves will respect.. and you have my backing." Maxims voice grew louder for the others to hear this time. "There will be no challenges necessary because im stepping down from Moon Stone and giving you rightful place as my heir." The words were choked on as Gabriels mouth fell open slightly.
"I cant believe this." Zaryn whispered in awe.
Maxim continued, gesturing to Penleopes coffin. "Thats why i saved her for last. If you accept, you dont have to bury your mate here. You have permission to take her to your. New land .. youll be able to bury her where you feel most comfortable." Maxim grabbed the sides of his head, forcing him to keep a steady gaze .. red rimmes dark eyes.
"Will you do this? I understand of its too much but.. i figured it would help us both out ans put you in your rightful place." Maxim spoke as if he were pleading, his crystal eyes searching.
Gabriel cracked a small smile that vanished as quick as it came. "I accept.. thank you." Gabriels voice was hoarse and thick as he had been crying.
Maxim burst into a smile before his eyes found Zaryn's. "Do you, Alpha X, agree to your mom being buried on her mates new land?"
Zaryn lifted himsemf up stand straight behind me. "I agree to that."
The wolves begin looking at maxim in a whole new way, awe on all of their faces as they watched there alpha give his secondary title away, something that was highly coveted that no other alpha in the world would ever just give away without a fight.
A sob broke through and our vision focused on Eden who had a handn covering her mouth as tears cascaded down her high cheekbones. I don't even think she knew what this male was capable of but she now realised as we all did..
That Alpha Maxim is a good Alpha and an even better friend.
Wrapping up the ceremony, The Healer said her final words once the two first bodies were completely submerged, giving her last speech before it was time for us to go. I let Zaryn hold me as i clutched onto him tightly.. the occasional form of wetness, hot from his eyes leaving moisture on my shoulder.
The funeral was over and heavy hearts had filed back inside the ferries to carry us back to the mainland.
I didnt have time to talk to the girls in privacy but I'd get that chance later on. For right now i was content walking back to our vehicles, hand in hand with my mate. I was glad i could be here for him..really be there for him. This was hard for him and he had already endured so much.
Gabriel stopped us just as we were about to reach Zaryn's truck.. a heavy look in his eyes.
"Alpha X. I wanted to thank you. For everything. Im.. im sorry i couldn't protect her." He rasped, seeming lost.
Zaryn turned to me. "Baby can you give us a moment?"
Smiling softly, "sure. Ill go catch up with the girls." I kissed his collar bone, the only thing i could reach on my tippy toes.
Walking away from the duo, I let them have their privacy and man to man discussion while I sought out my other two friends and my brother.
They had just come around the castle, or pack house as the pack called it, which had been my home for nearly four months.
Nic and Grace were walking side by side with Maxim on the outside of Nic and Eden on Grace's outer side.. Eden was trying to stay with females out of respect for Conrad and the Blue Moon pack.
Also, because i know the guilt she felt from it.
I crossed my arms around my body, pushing a lock of hair behind my ear as i strode up to them.
"Hey sis." Nic half smiled at me before being bumped from behind, sending him flying into me and i landed on my back, him on top of me.
Groaning, i could barely makeout the wild roar and snarls from where Nic had stood before he was being jerked off of me by Maxim and Zaryn had run up to pull me into his arms, alarmed.
"Watch where you're going!" Zaryn growled to the wolf who had caused the scene and to my surprise there stood Bane. The prisoner wolf, still in a leash...
Grace's eyes flashed as did Edens which was something i had never seen. Eden never let her wolf surge forth but laying eyes on Bane was a different storh entirely.
"My apologies females.' He seemed to back away bur Beta Gerald stood firm, smirking as looked up at Zaryn. They all wanted to.
"IT'S HIM!!!' Gabriels loud voice bellowed as he stomped up. Each word laced with venom as we all looked back in confusion.
"Hes who, Gabriel?" Maxim frowned, putting a hand on his chest to stop his advances as he towered over him with a frown. Gabriel gaped at Maxim, becoming wild.
"Thats the fùçking scent that was on Penleopes body! Thats the wolf who ate my son alive straight out of her body!!!!" He roared as all pack members stopped, looking toward us with flashing teeth.
Bane stepped back into Gerald with wide eyes.
"Are you sure?" Zaryn's tone was one that said this wolf was in for a world of hurt.
Eden's eyes rolled back in her head as Dark moon members made their way closer.. Maxim caught her in time as she was having a vision before her regular bright green eyes found mine.
"Its him! The moon showed me what happened!" She trembled. "Showed me the skin form... its Him!!!"
Snarling from all around began to take place.. Dark moon pack members pissed as well as Blue Moon as they approached us, teeth and claws out as their wolfs eyes came to the surface.
Bane shrveled back. "Shes lying! It wasn't me!"
Maxim's nostrils flared before he rared back and landed a hard punch to the wolfs face, knocking him to the ground. "Dont you ever call her a liar Again!" His Alpha tone was present.
Things were about to get really ugly.
Really fast.
This one lowly scared wolf killed Penelope who was pregnant with a child .
I had remembered the scene.. but covered my eyes once i saw her belly get ripped open. I had heard the crackling of bones then no sounds from the wolf but my guess is that He never died seeing as he stood right here before us.
"I thought i killed you!!' Gabriel roared, charging toward Bane with a vangeance.
No one made a move to stop him as other Blue Moon and Dark Moon came towards our group with a quickness.
I was being lifted by strong hands that sent tingles along my body and then I was inside a truck, watching from the inside as Zaryn slammed the door to my safety and charged back out to the scene.
I gaped, pressing my hands against the window.
"No!!!!"
Dun dun dun
