Nova

I was awoken by the pounding that began in my skull.. rhythmic beating, pulsating along with the movement of blood flowing in the veins around my brain. Agonizing. The pain increased with every moment I was awake, trying my best to keep my eyes shut tight.

Rolling to my side, trying to ease the throbbing in my brain, the blinding sun streamed through the window sending shockwaves through my eye lids, frying my whole frontal lobe. I thought I might scream from the agony.

That familiar aroma of bacon did nothing to arouse me and more to cause my stomach to twist and knot up.

I felt like throwing up at any moment.

Scrambling up as quickly as I could, i ran to my bathroom, my face over the toilet just in time as the bile rose out of my throat, hacking it up as it spewed from my mouth.

Tequila

That's all I tasted, causing another nauseating wave to crash through me.

Reaching for the sink, i managed to pull myself up and wet a clean wash cloth, pressing it to my face. It felt so good against my flushed skin..

I managed to steady my weight  and take a look at myself in the mirror,  pale skin and dark puffy circles under my eyes stared back at me as i tried my hardest to remember what happened last night after the party..

I wound up in my bed so Eden must know. Maybe she brought me home..

Popping a few advil, i zombie walked back into my room and pulled the curtains closed as i sheilded my eyes, so that nice relaxing blue was the only color of light illuminating my room, seeming like I was at an aquarium. I switched on my box fan, hoping to cool down as the meds kicked in and flopped back down on the bed.. thinking i have never felt worse physically in my life.

Moments later once the advil kicked in, my brain felt as if someone was taking it and plunging it into a tub of cool water, soothing me. I relaxed with a sigh, the pain ebbing away as I lay with the wash cloth over my eyes.

A few soft knocks followed by my door being opened, revealed my mom, an amused expression on her beautiful face.

"Did you have fun last night?" She whispered purposely so my head wouldn't burst.

"I think so?" I sounded unsure, my voice raspy and throat sore. Her laughter was contagious but i realized quickly that was a bad idea as i groaned from exerting myself too much.

"Here. Drink this." She walked toward me, a steaming mug in her hand. Sitting up slowly, i took it from her, sniffing the contents that had my stomach twisting in repulsion.

"Ugh what is it?" My aching eyes glanced up at her smiling ones.

"Its herbal. A wolf's remedy for a hangover. I used to have them every weekend." She attempted to hide the smirk that wanted to spread.

I gave her a sly half smile. Shrugging as i looked down into the swirling brown liquid, i took a deep breath and brought it to my lips, dipping my tongue into its warmth. The bitterness of the herbal tea gouged my taste buds out, my nose scrunching in disgust. Manning up, i gulped it down as fast as i could, holding my breath so my mouth wouldn't reveal the bitter taste to me. I handed the empty mug back to her, shaking my head at the after taste.

Mom watched me with pursed lips, concealing her amused smirk.

"Thanks mom." I sighed, flopping back down on my bed.

"Sure sweetie. Let that settle for a half hour then get ready and come down. Eden is here and wants to take you to breakfast at the packhouse but i told her to wait until you were feeling better." She kissed my forehead, shutting my door softly as she left.

Closing my eyes, i felt the advil and tge caffeine from the tea soothe my mind as mom's magic brew worked wonders on my stomach and head. My eyes began to feel more clear as i was able to sit up after a while.

"Shower time." I whispered to myself, nose scrunched once i smelled my skin.

~

Once showered and dressed, i felt much better. Refreshed. I took a cold one just so I could wake up properly. The sour tequila smell had gone and was replaced by cucumber, coconut and bamboo.. a tantilizing scent different from my usual honeysuckle. That was too sweet for me today.

Dressed in black yoga capris and a neon pink tank top, i slipped on my black nikes on and threw my damp hair up in a messy bun before snatching a pair of sunglasses off my vanity, putting them on my face before walking out the door. There was no way I could leave the house without them.

Stepping  down slowly, one foot at a time as I descended, Eden's smiling cheerful face greeted me at the island. "Oh gorgeous! How ya feeling young blood?"

Flinching from her loud high pitched voice, i cringed as she laughed at my expense. "I feel awful. Why don't you feel awful?" A frown etched on my forehead, a pout on my lips .

She sipped her hot tea, eyeing me. "Probably because this isn't my first rodeo, short stop. I know when enough is enough." She arched her brow at me.

Sitting beside her as mom finished cooking on the stove, i held my cheek in my hand as i scrutinized her.. Bright eyed and bushy tailed.. no sign of a hangover at all. It really wasnt fair.

I groaned, my hands rubbing my cheeks as i looked out ahead at mom cooking behind the tinted lenses of my sunglasses . "So you are making me to go pack house breakfast with you why?"

Eden pushed her straight blonde hair over her shoulder as she took another sip of tea, looking at me over the rim of her cup, brows wiggling suggestively before she placed the cup down in front of her. "Because I want to see if Marc is there. The male i danced with last night. So hot." She bit her lip, eyes rolling upwards.

Oracles unfortunately didn't have mates. Once they took their vows to the moon, they agree upon a mate less life. The moon wouldn't assign them a mate out in the world.. One could however, decide to banish their vows and take a mate.. not a moon given mate, but a mate nonetheless. If an oracle did this, she lost her gift of sight forever. That oracle would no longer be blessed as the moons messenger. If an oracle decided she didnt want the life of a seer.. that she didnt want to take the vows.. the moon wouldnt assign them a mate. It was a sort of punishment. Theyd have to find their own.

Eden could have fun the rest of her life with other unmated males, but thats all she would have unless she decided to give up her gift. But she still had to be careful because Oracles could still become pregnant. It was rare.. if they have taken their vows.. but sometimes it happened. They had to be locked up during heat like the rest of us.

Sounded like a great lifestyle to me.

Butterflies rose in my stomach as my mind wandered to Zaryn, anxiety creeping into my gut. "What if Z is there... or Disgrace?" My voice was a whisper, my eyes going round. I touched my mark, now remembering the events that had occurred last night.. the humiliation. But no wolf at the party made me feel out of sorts.

Eden shrugged elegantly. "So what if they are? I doubt Zaryn would show up after last night.. and no one likes Disgrace.. so what are you worried about? Everyone has your back. Come  on." She slid off the stool on her cream ballet flats and took my hand, pulling me to my feet and with her out the front door.

"Bye mom!" I called out before shutting the door behind me.

The sun was bright as it moved over the eastern horizon, bright whites yellows and golds lighting up the morning sky, dew sticking to everything and moisture thick in the air from surfaces sweating in the heat after the cool night. Birds were chirping a sweet song and the scent of burned wood could still be smelled from last nights bondfire, the smoke clinging to every object nearby.

As we tredged down the dirt road toward the pack house, I noticed Eden was pretty dressed up today, a pretty navy dress with cream polka dots, her usual red lipstick. She was gorgeous. She also had this expression on her face that said she had something on her mind.

"Whaaaat is it?" I peered at her knowingly over the rim of my sunglasses.

Her bright green orbs found my own. "Did you have fun last night at least?" She studied my face, searching for something.

"Yeah i did actually." A small smile appeared on my lips followed by a frown of confusion. "But i dont remember what happened.. how did i get home last night?"

She scrunched her nose so adorably, perfect brows coming together. "I was going to ask you the same thing. You disappeared along with Deacon. I figured he took you home since you were sloshed."

I thought for a moment, the last thing i had remembered was dancing with Deacon to a song about shots before taking another then thats it. Shrugging, i turned my head to her, looking at me expectantly.

"Honestly don't remember anything. I guess he did take me home." I smiled apologetically. "Sorry i didnt stay but i did have a lot of fun. Thanks for making me go."

Her lips tugged at the sides, forming a bright grin. "Glad you did. So.. i scryed this morning.. with what you had asked me about your mom yesterday... "

My body stiffened as we began walking through the grass, cool wet dew drops and sharp blades of grass, tickling my ankles with each step i took. "What did you see?" I hoped i had an answer as to my moms suspicious behavior lately.

She shot me a smirk but her eyes held something else. "Ill tell you after breakfast. We're almost here and it was a moderately complicated vision. Lets go eat first. After a greasy breakfast, you'll feel brand new i promise." She made a silly face at me, opening the side door to the dining hall of the packhouse.

The aroma of sausage, biscuits, bacon and other delicious foods lingered in the dining hall, me eyes drifted over wolves nervously. Some glanced up at us smiling, only to go back to their plates. It really wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.

"Look! There he is. Come on." Eden dragged me over to the buffet and we made our plates.. she put hers together quickly, seeming non chalante as she acted as if she were scanning the room for someone other than the guy she knew was staring at her.

Picking up a plate, i chose some sausage gravy and biscuits with a side of bacon, deciding it would be greasy enough to coat my stomach which seemed to be easing up on me to the point i felt no more nausea. I was about to reach for a soda when Eden smacked my hand away, handing me a bottle of ice cold water.

She leaned in and whispered, "Drink this instead. It helps. Trust me. You're gonna have bubble guts later." She snickered, pulling away.

I felt myself turn red, looking around to see if anyone had heard. Realizing the coast was clear, i followed Eden as she swayed her hips as if that's how she walked all the time.

Which it was.

She sidled up to a table with 5 wolves sitting there, Marc being one of them. "Hey guys." She smiled brightly as Marc looked up from his plate, practically drooling with wide eyes.

Marc was my brother's age, twenty one. He was also friends with Nic and Zaryn.. well.. he used to be friends with Zaryn.

"Uh.. hey Eden! Great party last night. Hey Nova." He smiled softly at me, nodding to the empty seats. "You females have a seat. Join us."

"Don't mind if i do!" Eden smiled cheerfully, sitting next to Marc as I sat on her other side.

Minding my own business, I began eating my food, savoring each bite as the flavors of the sausage gravy had my taste buds watering in my mouth, moaning lightly after the first bite. I peered up, noting the only other female at this table was smiling at me with warmth. I returned her smile, keeping my mouth closed.

"Hi. Im Rachelle. " she was a beautiful girl, about my age. Her hair was long and auburn. She wore earthy tones and no makeup on her face. A naturalist. I knew her but we had never really talked.

"Hey." I returned her smile.

"I just wanted to say.. i think you're brave. We all do." Her eyes glanced down the table as the males gave me a nod. Heat crept in my cheeks but my wolf couldnt help but to puff up with pride at her statement.

"Thank you." I grinned at her, showing no teeth... being respectful.

She bowed her head slightly before flashing me a grin, eyes shifting behind me to look at something, face contorting to a frown before looking back down at her plate.

That's when I felt the tingling sensation all over my back.. causing me to sit a little straighter as a chill ran up my spine... feeling so warm beneath his stare.

Zaryn.

I never turned to look, but he knew i knew he was here. My wolf was whining inside.. wanting to go to her mate. He could feel it too.

"You ok? You wanna leave?" Eden whispered in my ear.

I had to be brave. Apparently everyone else thought i was except me.. i needed to show that I could handle this if im supposed to be the future Luna.. even though I wont make it that far.

"Im okay. Lets finish." I smiled as  she gazed at me with admiration.

"Thats my girl."

A clattering around us had me glancing up to see Jasmine and Nic plopping down at the other empty seats at our table, both smiling down at all of us.

"Hey guys." Nic grinned. I was pissed at him.. he carried Grace away last night, taking my meditated kill away from my wolf. I understood because she was his mate but my wolf didnt like it. She wanted to teach him a lesson about playing with other wolves food. My lips pursed as i glared up at him, dropping my eyes to my tray once more.

"Hey Jaz." I greeted without looking up, ignoring Nic. I would talk to him about that later.

Before she could respond, Deacon came up to the table and sat his tray down next to me, sliding the seat back, scraping against the tile floor before plopping down in the chair, flashing me his brilliant smile.

"Hey. How ya feeling today?" He smirked knowingly.

I rolled my eyes, "like shit. Hey what happened last night after the shots song? I have no recollection." My eyes met his expectantly with a bit of confusion. I could have sworn he blushed a bit, clearing his throat, eyes shifting away.

"You got sick so i took you home." He took a gulp of his soda before glancing back at me with a tight lipped smile.

I hmmd. "Well thanks. I wondered how i got in my bed. You're a good babysitter." I giggled, patting his cheek.

A low growl rumbled from behind me.. the tingles forming on my body wherever Zaryn's eyes touched. He was sitting close by. I could feel it. My wolf snarled her agression at me inside my mind for touching another male. That's something you dont do when you have a mate. You touch only your male.. but Zaryn wasnt my male so he and my wolf could both kiss my ass.

The door creaked open as we all continued  eating our breakfast but then i felt someone stop behind me. Standing. Waiting.

Something was dropped on the middle of the table unceremoniously and I froze, realizing what it was.

My ruined panties from that time in the tent with Zaryn...

The scent of my own arrousal along with Zaryn's scent mixed with earth and rain filled the air around our table as I stared at the ripped dirty panties, stained with earth.

I paled as my eyes widened behind my sunglasses.. my face heating with embarassment as i glanced at the faces of the wolves trying to eat.

"Looks like you arent so innocent after all! You've been meeting up with Zaryn after strict orders not to see him.. you screwed him! You're nothing but a whore!" Grace's voice yelled out from behind me, causing me to twitch with how it sounded against my mind.

I turned slowly in my seat, anger building up, pumping adrenaline through my veins as I stood, sliding ny sunglasses up and glaring at her, my head tilted down low.. eyes menacingly staring at her as they lifted up.

She flinched slightly, backing up to give me some space as her hand protected her swollen stomach.

Growls sounded from all around the room.. wolves unhappy with her display. Amongst them were my own and Zaryn's.

I would really hate to be her right now because i was not in a good mood.

Especially after she got away the first two times...

Not today, bitch.
