Chapter 7

Part title 5

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is: my blood, sweat and tears by bts!

5 months later

It has been a month since I turned six which means that the crown prince's seventh birthday is in two days. I've done everything I could to prepare for this event. I've scoured the entire palace when I was on a trip with my father. I have found the perfect secret garden that I could hide and wait out the ball.

I also found out where the kitchen is and all the best blind spots so I could steal food without getting caught. Right now, I'm being tortured by the maids who are giving me a spa treatment so I can look my best for the ball.

However, this spa treatment is anything BUT relaxing. I was scrubbed four times with different types of soaps and my nails were scrubbed clean of any dead skin and I've had ten different facials applied.

It was a huge bother since I also had to review etiquette and manners at the same time. By the time I was done, it was already night! I hadn't eaten all day except for that soup the maids gave me, they said I couldn't put on any weight before the ball so they were STARVING me!

"Luna! Astro! I'm dying!" I moan as my stomach starts to hurt from lack of food.

"Oh master, you have been put through unimaginable torture," Astro yawned as he turned over in his pet bed. Astro and Luna have gotten themselves used to noble life as all they do is eat, sleep and repeat. Occasionally, they go forest exploring with me but other than that, they're on their beds.

"I wouldn't mind being groomed while being fed," Luna said as she licked her paw.

"Of course, you'd love it since you don't do anything!" I shot back.

"Well there's nothing for us to do, so we're using our time to relax. I haven't relaxed this much in over 50 years!" Luna said as she stretched and lay in a sleeping position.

"50 years! How old are you guys?"

"Well... I am over 250,000 years old and Astro is 275,000 years old." I was shocked at how old my familiars were, they didn't look a day over three. Never judge a book by its cover.

"I'm sooooo not looking forward to tomorrow, it's going to be a new day of unimaginable horror. Dance lessons, dress fitting, more dance lessons, more dress fittings..." I complain as I fall asleep.

The next morning, I woke up early and escaped to the forest before the maids could wake me up. It's so annoying being a noble most of the time. The only upside is the food and I'm not even allowed to have any until tomorrow so no point being there.

I walk deep into the forest to rethink my plan tomorrow and make sure that there are no setbacks. When I walk up to my secret spot on the edge of the cliff, I see a girl with platinum blonde hair, talking to a bird.

"Oh hi, how did you get here?" The girl asks. She's so... KAWAIIIIII!!!! I just wanna steal her and lock her up in my room! Hehe... Just kidding. (FBI OPEN UP!)

"I should be asking you the same thing, the forest is dangerous to those who are unfamiliar with it," I say. The forest was actually really big and connected to some noble lands and villages so she could just be another noble kid who came here.

"Oh! I'm here to play with the animals! They always invite me out so we can explore the forest. Oh, where are my manners! My name is Rillaine Listeria Shuya Kagamine, you can call me Rin!" The girl says as she curtsies. Maybe I should kidnap her...

"My name is Sylviana de Crystal Scilla, you can call me Sylvia or Syl." I introduce. Her name sounds familiar... Crap! She's the dead sister of Allen! She dies on her 11th birthday because of some assassins. But she's so cute! I MUST SAVE HER FOR THE SAKE OF CUTENESS!

"Um... Are you okay? You were muttering to yourself," crap, forgot she's still here.

"Yeah, hey... Do you wanna explore the forest together? I can show you some cool places!"

"Sure!" Her eyes lit up like candles and we spend the whole morning walking, exploring and talking.

"I and my brother Len are really close! I don't know what I'd do without him! He always plays with me whenever I ask and even helps me with my studies! He's the best bro ever!" Wow... She really loves her brother since she won't stop talking about him.

"Oh I forgot to ask, are you going to the crown prince's birthday tomorrow?"

"Yeah, I have to go since I'm the daughter of the duke."

"Fantastic! Len and I will be there! We can all be friends together! Oh my! I forgot I was going to meet Len in the afternoon! I have to go, goodbye sylvi!" Rin shouts as she ran out of the forest with the birds guiding her.

Rin'a magic is beast tamer. She can talk to and control any animal she wants which is why she was targeted to be killed. Best taming magic is almost as rare as light and dark magic. Although my magic is more rare, no assassins dare to try and kill me since the whole estate is protected by a magic barrier that will kill those who have ill intentions towards us. And even when I'm in the forest, I have Luna and Astro so even when I'm in danger, they'll know and come for me. I'm practically untouchable!

I look at my watch and realise it's nearly time for dinner! "FOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!"

I yell as I sprint towards the estate. The maids were going ballistic about where I could've gone but I slipped through the window to the library and waited for a maid to find me.

"Miss! There you are!" The maid says while calling to some others that she found me, "why are you so filthy? We must run you a bath!" No wait, what about dinner?! Before I could voice my complaints, I was yeeted in and out of a bathtub faster than I could say red velvet.

Luckily, they didn't do the whole shebang so I still made it to dinner on time.

"Hello mother, hello father," I say as I sit down and watch the table being filled before helping myself to the roast chicken. My mother greeted me back while my father just nodded again. To be honest, my father rarely talks. Only a few people including my mother have heard him talk. That's how he got the title: 'the silver silence.'

"Sylvia, how about me and you go to the new boutique that opened up. We can order new dresses for the crown prince's ball," mother says.

"Oh, um, sure," I did t really care, it's not like I was planning on staying at the party. I'll be hiding somewhere, most likely by the buffet table.

"By the way mother, can you tell me about Rillaine Kagamine?" Mother was a huge social butterfly, she had Intel on almost every bit of gossip in the country and out.

"Why would you want to know about that?"

"I and her have crossed paths and I'd like to know more about her so I could befriend her."

"Oh, wait... When did you come across her?"

"When... I was visiting the public library! I met her then," I lie. I bet she'd blow her head if she finds out that I was in the forest.

"I see, the Kagamines... Well, I'm sure that Rillaine is the twin brother to the heir of the Kagamines. The girl had beast tamer magic... Duchess kagamine was also a candidate for saintess..." Mother rambled on.

"Wait, duchess Kagamine was a what?"

"It was eight years ago if I remember, duchess Kagamine was a very powerful priestess. She would've been promoted to saintess had she not married duke Kagamine. And what a beautiful wedding it was!" My mother fawned. "Don't you think so too dear?"

Father simply nodded and continued eating.

So duchess Kagamine was a powerful priestess...

"What type of magic did she have?"

"Oh, she had beast tamer magic. That's why she was very important to the church, they also protected her from enemy hands. You know that opposing factions would do anything to make sure that the imperialists wouldn't have more power. Luckily, she was given full protection when she married duke kagamine and now their children have the same magic."

"But what if anyone goes after the children?"

"Well, it's hard enough getting past all the guards and barriers, this IS someone from the royal family. However, I suppose it is possible," my mother said.

The rest of the dinner was small talk but I was actually planning on how to save Rin. Nobody would believe me if I said that Rin was going to be assassinated... So I guess I'd have to do it myself... Damn, this chicken is so good! Crispy on the outside but succulent and juicy on the inside...

I have written this description of the chicken based off my diner of roast chicken. It was truly delicious. You should try it.
