Chapter 52

Royal debutante!

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is: Perfect by Ed Sheeran!

Sylvia's POV:

Today was the day of the Royal debutante. The day where everything could go magically or the day where I could be forever pinned as the villainess. I was getting nervous jitters.

I'm at the AquaPearl spa right now. The Royal debutante doesn't start until 7 pm and it was 9 am right now so, Rin, Violet and Niki and I thought that we'd get ready together.

"I actually can't believe that in a few hours, we'll be debuting in high society! I'm getting goosebumps!" Violet says as she has her nails filed.

"I know, I've made sure to put out all the stops on my dress using my share of the company's profits," Monique says as she has her massage. "Mmhmm, that's the spot."

"What about you Sylvia?" Rin asks me.

"Huh, oh me, I'm just hoping the night goes well," I say vaguely as I slump in my seat.

"I can just imagine prince Ace escorting you!" Rillaine fawns.

"Don't you have your own prince to fawn over?" I say jokingly.

"I'm actually very nervous. Lucas begged me to let him choose my dress. He's going to send it over before the debutante. I just hope the dress is nice," Rin says.

"Wow, Ace did the same with me. I just hope the princes aren't thinking about embarrassing their fiancées," I say.

To be honest, I'm half-excited/half-scared about my dress. I would've done it myself if I hadn't been unconscious for two weeks and woke up a few days before the debutante. Ace graciously thought about my dress and had my aunt work on it exclusively this whole time. The sad thing is that I don't know exactly what my dress looks like, Ace just told me that it was white and silver so I can tell my dad what to wear.

In case you're confused, my dad is chaperoning me to the debutante, many girls have their older brothers and fathers chaperoning them in case there's ever an idiotic male who can't seem to understand the word no. It's also for the dads to get together and talk about whatever it is dads talk about.

"I'm not going to let Allen choose my dress, I'm too picky with my style," Violet says. I laugh nervously and tilt my head back to let the masseuse do her thing. It was pretty relaxing, but I was just hoping that ace wouldn't do me dirty and make me wear something hideous like a bin bag.

"Hey Rin, where's the twins?" Monique asks.

"Oh, Lucas is taking Alister and Aristella to the town. He's so nice isn't he?" Rin says.

To be honest, taking the twins out was my idea. It was stressful for Rin to always look after the twins so I slipped Lucas a note saying that taking the twins off her hands would make her like him more. I just hope Lucas doesn't vaporise the twins for being annoying.

And like promised, the unicorn hair was delivered to us within a week. It took some time to finalise the design but thanks to that, we've unleashed our new products in the shop, only for it to be sold out a few hours later thanks to the King and his massive orders. He wanted a hundred and fifty bows with 5000 arrows. All of that money was used towards our dresses and to pay the workers an extra bonus.

I haven't visited the Silver Dragon as much this week with the whole Lianey thing and building up my health. Speaking of Lianey, I hope she's well enough to attend the debutante. Missing out is like social suicide. No, it wouldn't be suicide because you'd have to be alive to die. This debutante is like the birth of your social life. Miss it, and you no longer exist. So yeah, big pressure to do well.

The spa day ended with only five hours left until the debutante. My body feels so loose thanks to the massage and my nails have never looked better. My hair was shiny and my face was gleaming.

I decided to take a walk around the town before going back to the estate and you would never believe what I saw in my aunt's boutique: the Golden Thread.

Lucas was and the twins were staring at each other, with Lucas looking like he was about to throttle the twins. I tried to get as close as I could without them noticing me.

"We said 10 large gold coins each," Alister says.

"You get 5 gold coins you brat," Lucas answers.

"That wasn't the deal, you should keep your promises prince," Aristella says.

"I am the crown prince of the most powerful race ever, how dare you talk back to me," Lucas says.

"The crown prince of the most powerful race ever can't seem to pay up 10 gold coins. How pathetic. I wonder if our sister knows that you needed our help to pick out a dress for her," Alister threatens.

"I could end you right now and no one would know a thing," Lucas threatens back.

"But you're not gonna, because if you do then Rin would be sad. She loves us," Aristella says.

Since when were Alister and Aristella so badass?!

"Tch, fine. But if Rin hears about this-" Lucas starts.

"We know, our lips are sealed so long as we get what we're owed," Alister says as he was handed a bag of coins from Lucas.

"Pleasure doing business with you, brother-in-law," Aristella flashed an innocent smile as Alister counted the money. Hold up, these kids are FOUR! Who the hell taught them this?!

"What do you even need money for? You're three aren't you," Lucas asks.

"We're four and a half actually, and we have something we want. We'd be in trouble if we ask our parents for it. So this is the only way," Alister says.

"Come on Al," Aristella takes Alister's hand.

"Right behind you Stella," Alister says as they walk off together with Lucas following suit.

I stand up from my hiding spot and rush to my carriage. It's better if I don't tell Rin about her siblings' alternate personalities. The more that I think about it, the more I find it funny that Lucas got blackmailed by a bunch of four-year-olds. I laughed all the way home and then some.

When I was walking to my room, Lillian and a bunch of other maids tackled me and I had to go through a very strenuous process to get ready.

"Miss, his highness has sent the dress," Lillian informed me while one of the maids was brushing my hair.

"Good, let's get this over with," I sigh as I'm forced into a corset that crushed my ribs and was zipped up into the dress. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate corsets, but I'll bear the pain so long as I look gorgeous. Even if corsets are going out of trend for casual wear, they're still a very big thing for important events like this.

I have to say this dress was amazing, the design was beautiful and the stitches were silver, and so were the flower petals. The dress came with matching shoes and a stunning jewellery set. The dress must've taken months to make...

"Miss you look fantastic!" One of my maids: Hady compliments me with starry eyes.

The maids were circling me, fixing any loose strands of hair and fixing my makeup.

"I agree miss, you look beautiful," Lilian says, "however we must leave now if we're going to be on time."

I lifted my dress a bit and walked towards the carriage. My father was fixing his cufflinks while he was waiting. His suit also matched my dress but then again silver is the family colour.

He looked at me as I walked towards him, I had to admit that he looked even more handsome when dressed in a suit like this.

"You look beautiful," my father compliments.

"Thank you," I say as I take his hand.

"Shall we?" My father says as he helps me into the carriage.

He extended his hand once more when we finally arrived and walked Mr all the way to the ballroom. It was hosted at Rin and Len's house this time. Each year it's a different high noble house that hosts the debutante, last year was marquis Sharlet, this year is Duke Kagamine and next year is actually our turn to host.

The servant announcing the arrivals took one look at us before announcing us, "Presenting Lady Sylviana de Crystal Scilla, chaperoned by Duke Argent Friola Silas Scilla!"

(Sylvia and her dad!)

When I finally walked in, I could see Violet being chaperoned by her brother.

"Sylvia! Finally, you made it. Monique isn't here yet and I was beginning to get bored," Violet says.

"I'll leave you to talk with your friend," my father said before leaving my side and walking towards some other older nobles who I assume were also chaperones. I could see a glimpse of Duke Kagamine's platinum blonde hair.

"All these boys are annoying me, perhaps I should get rid of them," Violet's brother says. I don't think Ivan understood that chaperones were supposed to supervise... From afar...

"I'm going to go now Ivan, be sure not to kill anyone," Violet sighs as she and I leave from the sight of her overprotective brother.

(Violet and Ivan)

"Your brother does know you have a fiancée doesn't he?" I ask.

"He doesn't approve of anyone near me, he doesn't even like Allen," Violet says. Wow, such karma. It seems Allen, the overprotective brother of Rillaine is engaged to someone who also has an overprotective brother... The irony.

"You look beautiful Violet," I say. Violet was wearing a white dress with shades of purple and blue mixed in. She had a flower pin in her hair and her shoes had butterflies on them.

"She really does," a voice says. I look over and see it's Allen. He was walking towards us before Ivan came in between.

"Ah, so this is the fiancée of my sister, I don't approve," Ivan says.

"She's my fiancée, you can't change that," Len says.

"For now," Ivan says before reluctantly leaving. Now, where have I heard that before?

Allen has matured way faster than anyone else, he topples over all the boys his age. He's even a bit taller than Ace. I mean a bit. Just a tiny bit.

For some reason, all these male leads are so goddamn tall that I have to wear 4-inch heels just to be the same height as Ace. God knows how tall they'll be when they're fully grown.

(Allen)

"Wow Allen, you clean up nice," I compliment. "It seems I better leave, I know better than to get in between love birds."

I can tell Violet was cursing me and it gave me a smile. I look around for anyone I know and see Mason leaning on the wall.

(Mason)

"Hey Mason, do you know where Ace is? It's kind of embarrassing for me to be without my fiancée," I say.

"His highness had to take care of some business. He accidentally spilt some juice on that girl Lily so he's taking her to get a new gown," he explains. Oh... He's with Lily...

"B-but that's all! His highness would never-" Mason stutters out. I bet he could tell what I was thinking.  I sigh and walk away. I know that I said the game rules don't really bother me. But... there's also a little fear in me that everything will revert back to the game and I'll be left alone.

"Sylvia!" I look up from my glass of lunch and see Rin and Lucas.

Out of everyone, Rin shone the most. Her golden locks contrasted perfectly with her crystal blue eyes and her dress looked like a flower field. She looked breathtaking... I should ask Alister and Aristella for their advice on dresses next time...

(Rillaine)

Lucas was the opposite of Rin's light colours. He wore a black and red suit, with his hair in that messy but neat style and his red eyes shining like rubies which contrasted against Rin's sapphire eyes.

(Lucas. Don't mind the writing in the picture)

"How are you Rin?" I ask.

"I'm great. You look beautiful Sylvia!" Rin compliments.

"Not as beautiful as you. Wow, Lucas has amazing taste!" I say, leaving out the part that he had help from the twins.

"He knew my favourite colour was light pink and he even knew my favourite flower was a rose! I don't know how he did it," Rin says.

"It's because I know everything about you my dearest fiancée," Lucas says, looking proud.

Alright, Lucas, I won't expose you... For now... But this is great leverage for whenever I want something else from him!

"You two should go dance," I say.

"But what about you?" Rin says.

"I'm fine being a wallflower for now," I say.

"You're not the only one," Monique says as she approaches us.

If Rillaine was the sun's light then Monique was the moon's glow. She wore a beautiful blue dress that tugged at her figure and spilt down to her majestic blue crystal heels. She had her hair straightened wore a beautiful sapphire headpiece.

(Monique)

"Oh yeah, you still haven't gotten yourself a fiancée."

"I have but he's late," Monique says.

"Wait what? Niki has a fiancée?!" Rin says excitedly. "Who is he?!"

"I feel sorry for the poor fellow," Lucas chuckles which was met with a scowl from Monique.

"You'll never believe who," Monique says.

"Who?" I ask eagerly.

"Me," Aiden says.

"Wait what!" I gasp.

"Yes! Tis I who has captured the heart of fair lady Monique!" Aiden says.

Monique nudged him in the stomach in anger.

"That's not it, he's just a foil so no one can ask us both out. We'll break the engagement as soon as both of us find our own partners," Monique explains.

"But until then, I have to do all the things a fiancée would do. So... Monique, care to dance?"

(Aiden!)

"Well I can't leave Sylvia here all alone," Monique says.

"No it's fine, you go and dance," I say.

"Are you sure Sylvia?" Rin asks.

"Yeah, go have fun. It'd be a shame not to enjoy this night since you've been dreaming about it since forever," I say.

"We'll be back after this dance," Aiden says as he leads Monique to the dance floor. Lucas also led Rin away and I was there just sipping my punch.

I sigh as I look into my reflection.

"What's plaguing you, dear fiancée?" I turn around and see Ace behind me.

"Wait. But aren't you supposed to be with-" I didn't finish the sentence as Ace put my glass down and dragged me to the middle of the ballroom.

(Ace)

"Wait, Ace!" I say.

"It's a shame not to dance especially when you look this pretty," Ace says as he twirls me.

"But what about Lily?" I ask.

"Hm, what about her?"

"I mean where is she?" I say.

"She's over there." I follow ace's gaze to Lily, who was leaning on the wall, staring at us.

Ace might not have noticed it but I did. Lily was staring daggers at me throughout the whole dance. Lily looked different from the game. Instead of a beautiful green dress, lily was wearing a black and white dress. I wonder if Ace gave her the wrong dress by accident. Lily seems to not be happy about it. She was smiling all happy-like but her eyes tell a different story.

(How lily looks now)

(How she was supposed to look)

The dance ended and before I could leave, Ace held my hand and waited until the next dance started.

"Ace, aren't you supposed to be dancing with other people now?" I ask.

"Why would I want to dance with anyone other than my fiancée?"

"Well, I just thought..." I don't finish my sentence.

"You thought what?"

"Nothing, it's nothing. You're a surprisingly good dancer Ace," I say.

"I am a prince, it's to be expected," Ace replies. Smooth. Ace was about to pull me into another dance but I simply said my feet were starting to hurt so I can run back to the buffet. The buffet was extravagant.

They had cakes of every shape and size and teas from all over the world. There were ten different meat and fish dishes including a lobster.

Of course, I ran over to the lobster and starting munching. Lobster was very expensive in my last life, especially one this big. It tasted heavenly! When I was about to get another helping of lobster, I saw Lianey approach me.

I haven't seen her much since I've visited her house two days ago.

"Hi Lianey, how are you?" I inquire gently, putting down my plate.

"Well, about as good as you can get when your best friend of fourteen years dumps you like the way she did," Lianey sighs as she grabs a glass of punch.

"I'm sorry about my behaviour towards you when I visited your house, what I said was uncalled for," I apologise.

"No, you were right. As much as I was upset that Mikaeyla did that to me, I shouldn't have acted like that, it was totally unnecessary and immature," Lianey reflects on herself.

"Have you seen... Mikaeyla since then?" I ask.

"No, I purposefully visited all the places she lived in the past two days but there was no sign of her, it's like she disappeared, or maybe she's really just avoiding me personally."

"You do know that what she said was a lie, right?"

"Yeah, I know. I know how much it must've killed her to say that. I want to help her so badly, I really do. I want to hug her and have sleepovers and talk about boys like we did before. It's just only now that I've realised the social obstacles that seemed invisible before," Lianey says, batting back her tears.

"I'd say just give her some time. She needs to find her own self-worth before focusing on relationships," I say.

"Yeah, I guess..."

"Your dress looks nice by the way, it really works well with your new hairdo," I say.

"You think? I had it altered a bit so it could be less heavy. That actually means I had them cut off the whole skirt from my knees to my ankle," Lianey says as she chews on some cherries.

"It looks wonderful, not many people could pull off hot pink and brown," I say.

"I'm just grateful for my maid, Emily. She managed to fix my hair after I cut it like that," Lianey says.

(Lianey)

"Can I ask... why did you cut your hair like that?"

"I don't know, maybe it's because me and Mikaeyla promised to have the same hairstyle one day. Or it was just plain annoying. Or I just wanted a fresh start and the only way to do that was cut off my dead ends... literally," she lists.

"Well whatever reason it is, you look like a new woman," I say.

"Thanks, but I think my dress looks way better than my hair," she says.

"You were very daring with the back," I say.

"Might as well live a little. It's not like I'm showing anything bad, and besides, men get to frolic around shirtless in the summer but a girl can't catch a breeze with some bare legs and back?" Lianey asks.

"True," I nod as I sip my drink.

"So, about your fiancee... Where is he?" I ask.

"Right over... There." Lianey says as she points to a man with dark hair. "Kingston Dorian Embrys Collstar, the first son of the minister of International Trading. We've been engaged for 8 years now."

"Well go and dance with him, it might take your head off the whole Mikaeyla thing," I say.

"You think?" Lianey asks.

"Yeah, go and have some fun. A debutante is only once in your life," I say. Lianey ponders it over for a bit before finally deciding to go dance.

I sigh as I go back to my food. However, I couldn't eat properly with Lily staring daggers at me. I could feel her glaring at me like she was going to burn a hole through me.

Aside from that, I had a blast. I danced with Ace, laughed with Monique as Lucas and Allen were fighting over who gets to dance with Rin, all for Rin's father to cut in and dance with her.

They did look majestic dancing. Rin's father is like... So handsome. I hope Allen and Alistair grow up to look like him...

(Claude and Rillaine dancing!)

I watched Lianey dance a few times with her fiance, I could tell she was trying hard to distract herself.

The Debutante was actually going good without a hitch, and it ended peacefully as well. My father finally decided that it was time to leave at 11, and Lily continued to glare at me even when I left the ballroom. There were obvious questions I wanted to ask such as why is Lily, a commoner, attending a Royale Debutante, but I decided to let it bother me another time. This night is just about good memories...

This chapter was one of the most difficult to write since I had to go surfing for nice pictures and I had to rewrite the chapters since I thought it wasn't good enough. All in all, I'm happy with this current chapter, no drama, just good times! See you all next week!
