His POV
The heroic villainess
This chapter song is: Treat you better by Shawn Mendes!
Ace's POV:
It was another Saturday, one of my favourite days of the week as it was the day when I would visit my fiancée. As I finish signing the paychecks for the servants, I called the carriage to take me to the Scilla dukedom. Frankly, I prefer travelling by lightning, but I must uphold my reputation as the future king, even if it means sitting in one place for three hours.
"How are you holding up, your highness?" Mason asks as he walks in with some fruit.
"Just about done, is the carriage ready?"
"All it needs is the person riding it, and we should be good to go," Mason says as he places the fruits down.
"I hear your elder brother is there as well with his army," I say.
"Yes, Elijah still needs supervision from my father while training the Royal army. He's still only 17, so he has a year to go before fully being qualified as captain," Mason replies.
"I wonder what my fiancée is doing right now..." I say as I take a bit out of a sliced apple.
"Most likely preparing for your arrival," Mason answers.
"Well, I shouldn't keep her waiting," I say as I get up and straighten my jacket before leaving my office and walking towards the carriage.
"Good morning, your highness," the driver bows down to me as he opens the door. I give him a nod as I step inside.
The carriage ride was a long one, but we were a few minutes away from the Scilla mansion. When I peered outside, I saw smoke, and I smile. My fiancée probably set something on fire again. But then as we come closer, I see servants running. Growing more concerned, I told the carriage to stop as I went outside and stopped a servant.
"What's going on?" I query.
"The mansion is under attack! Miss told us to run! They're slaughtering anyone they see!" The maid spoke frantically. As soon as I heard the words slaughter, I grabbed my sword, and before Mason could tell me to wait, I used my lightning to transport me to the mansion.
When I got there a second later, everything was being burned. I counted at least 70 attackers in the front with more I presume inside. Things like this irk me. The nerve to attack my fiancee is most irritating. As I walk inside the manor, four hooded men attempted to jump me, only to get electrocuted as I walk past. I could have made their deaths more painful but seeing as I was in a bit of a hurry, I had no time to spend on vermin.
As I head towards Sylvia's room, I stopped after seeing the door blown off its hinges and the insides burnt to a crisp with the fire still raging inside. The fire was creeping towards her wardrobe where the dress I gave her for her 13th birthday was sticking out. As I waved my hand, the fire was sealed inside a vacuum of no air and instantly died out.
Worried, I picked up the pace searching the mansion, killing any trespassers as well as ensuring any of the servants' safety.
(Ace was literally on power mode. This was how he whizzed past the assassins with his lightning:
When I got to the lounge room where I would usually stay when I visited her, I saw a huge white wolf clawing away at a man's face. The sight didn't disgust me; I was too fixed on the duke of Scilla and the minister of defence holding back a group of 10 on their own with the minister having an injured arm.
Before this got out of hand, I swiftly made my way to the attackers and cut them down with one swing.
"Y-your highness?!" The minister said, aghast.
"Where's my fiancee?" I ask.
"She pursued the man who took my wife," the Duke answers. Oh Sylvia, always the troublemaker... Well, I guess I'd have to lend a hand as your fiancee. Using my lightning power, I teleported from the lounge to ten different places before going to the roof where I spotted a certain familiar silver-haired girl fighting off two men with one of them holding the duchess.
I saw how they surprise attacked her, and she went down. That was the moment I stepped in.
"That's awfully rude, putting your hands on someone else's fiancee," I said to the man holding Sylvia.
Although his face was covered, I could tell he was shocked at my sudden appearance. He looked to the other man who nodded at him. Oh, is he going to attack me? It seems like he is. One jab to the face following with a kick. Too bad he's so slow. As I avoided him, I also tripped him while swiftly taking my fiancee out of his hands.
"You should really be more careful, you could have dropped her, and it's a deplorable act to wake up a sleeping lady," I taunted as I struck him down with my lightning. It seems the lifeless shell of his friend was enough to scare the other masked opponent, who was shaking as he held the duchess by the throat with a knife.
"It's okay duchess; I'll protect your daughter, so... please don't hold back," I smirked as I covered Sylvia and me with a fire barrier. The duchess nodded at me as her eyes started flickering. Her hair started floating as the man struggled to keep a hold of her.
"How dare you come into my house and attack my family and try to kidnap my daughter..." It seems that I'll need a stronger fire barrier, it's getting chilly...
The duchess grabbed the hooded man, who was now writhing in agony as his hand was frozen all the way up to the shoulder and broken off. The roof was beginning to be scaled in frost and ice. The ice even grew around my barrier, and I had to put a second barrier to ensure that it wasn't broken.
Then, the sky started to turn cloudy and grey as it started snowing in June. At first, it was snow, but then it hardened into hale, and soon, big spears of ice started to drop out of the sky, only landing on the assassins.
I always wanted to see this; my mother always told me stories about the duchess Scilla and her past: how she evaporated all of the water on the enemy's side during the battle of Drakia, how she could turn an oasis into a desert in a minute. Ah yes, the very powerful duchess with the ability to control the weather. It's a no brainer where Sylvia got her strength from. As I lifted the barrier, everything except the circle we were in was covered in snow and ice.
(the duchess in angry mode)
The duchess floated back to the ground as she ran to Sylvia.
"Oh, my precious silver drop, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, she's so cold," The duchess wept as she held Sylvia's hand and rubbed it in an attempt to warm it up.
"It's okay duchess; I shall take Sylvia to the royal palace. It seems like the best option for now, seeing as your mansion is destroyed," I say as I cast a layer of mana skin to warm her up.
"Y-yes, that seems like the best option, please take her, I'll stay here and help everyone else move, just make sure my silver drop is safe," the duchess said as she kissed Sylvia's head.
As I stepped back from the duchess, I let the lightning consume me, when I opened my eyes, I was back at the castle where my father was dining with my mother. As soon as they saw the unconscious Sylvia in my hands, they summoned the royal physician and the guards.
I watched as they took Sylvia away as I explained what happened at the Scilla mansion.
"It's been six years since someone attempted to assassinate the crown prince's fiancee..." My father says, troubled as he rubs his temples with his hand.
"I have already ordered for help to arrive at the Scilla mansion, we'll allow the duke and duchess to stay at the palace while their home is fixed," my mother informed me.
I sigh as I sip my tea and wait for any notice on Sylvia's condition. Sadly, no such notice has come for two hours, and the only thing I can do is catch up on my work to distract myself.
"Your highness..." I look over to see one of my maids, Delia at the door.
"Explain," I say.
"The duke and duchess of Scilla have arrived and have settled in next to Miss Sylviana's room. Also, the Royal physician has been in the room with the miss for over two hours with no interruptions, but he is finally done extracting the powder from the miss," Delia informed.
"Am I allowed to see her?"
"Unfortunately not your highness, the powder is unknown, and the magic tower is currently researching its origins. However, the miss is still under a few side effects and is very weak. The physician said that she needs three days of undisturbed rest, only family is allowed to visit her right now."
"I see..." I look out at the window and see the sun shining bright, "how annoying..." I grumble as I watch dark clouds form and thunder striking... much better.
Sorry for updating so late but ever since England has been in lockdown, let's just say that our prime minister hasn't been making the best decisions and both my school and home life are being wrecked by the lousy wifi and the changeable schedules!
