Part Title 8

The heroic villainess

This song's chapter is: nightmare by set it off!

Sylvia's POV:

It's been a month since I've started to interact with the darkness and each time it's tried to kill me. My face is now swollen from all the slapping Luna has done. If Astro hadn't used his magic to conceal it, I'm sure my maids would've noticed the swelling.

"OWWW!!!" Now is my 998th time trying.

"I don't understand why this is taking so long, just bond with the stupid thing already," Luna yawned with the hand she slapped me with.

"That's easy for you to say! You're not the one being choked by your own magic and then being slapped by your familiar!" I yell back.

Astro was just laughing and eating some fruit by the pond. He'd barely helped with this whole magic thing and was now just laughing at Luna slapping me.

"Alright! 999th times the charm!" I yell as I position myself back into the meditative pose.

"If had better be, my hand is hurting from all the slapping," Luna complained. I wanted to scream at her but first, I'd deal with this unruly power. Whenever I go to this state, I'm always in this black room. Soon after, something would try and kill me. It was either drowning, impaling or burning. I wait for my assassination attempt and soon, black arrowheads for my heart.

"Not this time!" I scream as I dodge. Another arrow came, and soon, ten arrows were firing at the same time, it was getting harder to avoid. My leg was scraped and my cheek had blood dribbling down.

"Ok then! If that's how you wanna play this then fine! Come at me! I'm not afraid of you!" With that statement, the arrows stopped.

"Yeah, that's what I thought!" I yell and started smiling. That was until I heard a loud growl heading towards me.

A beast with black scales and bony wings came at me. You couldn't see his eyes and his teeth were jagged. Crap! I run and soon, the room turns into a hallway with the creature chasing after me. Crap crap crap crappidy crappy crap! The beast was flying faster and its teeth clamped on my arm.

I screamed so loud that my throat hurt. The beast wasn't letting go, that was when I got mad. I looked around the hallway and saw a candelabra. I grabbed it and stabbed it in the only part there was on the body that wasn't covered in scales.

The beats screamed so loud I thought my ears were bleeding. I took the candelabra out and stabbed it again until it let me go. Black blood gushed out of what I assumed was its eye.

It cowered in the corner, its tail trying to protect its face. So this was my magic... Well, it had my anger I guess. I limped over to the hurt beast. I ripped off a strip of my nightgown and tried to bandage it. The beast growled, clearly not allowing me anywhere near.

"Listen, you attacked first. Not to mention that you tried to kill me for the past month, this was clearly justified. Now stop being a big baby and let me help you," I say as I force the tail out of the way. When I examined the wound, I knew it was the eye I hit. The creature also had other injuries but the eye was by far the worst. It winced when I touched it.

"Ok, this is okay... No problem..." I don't know if I was reassuring the best or myself. Wait... This is my magic so... Let's see... A first aid kit! I tried to imagine a first aid kit in the cupboard of a nearby drawer.

When I opened it, a first aid kit that looked exactly like the one in my past life was there. I opened it and started to disinfect and bandage the beast. When I was done, the beast was no longer growling or trying to kill me.

"There, all done. You're pretty quiet for a beast. Now that I take a good look at your eyes, they remind me of when I was looking at the sky just before the sunrise. So..I'm going to call you twilight," I say as I begin to stroke its head. The scales were rock hard but I could tell the beast could feel my touch so I continued. Soon enough, the beast fell asleep and the hallway started to fade away. Even I felt a bit sleepy, and I fell unconsious.

When I woke up again I was in my bed, Luna and Astro were curled up beside me in their animal form.

"What the hell happened?" My question woke Luna and Astro up.

"You're awake! Finally!" Astro let out a relieved sigh and I was confused.

"What do you mean, I'm finally awake?" I look outside and it was twilight. Twilight... I remember what happened last night and looked at Luna and Astro.

"You collapsed while being in the meditative state and you didn't wake up until now, you were muttering something in your sleep and your hand was glowing," Astro explains.

I look at both my hands, on my right hand was a beautiful design that snaked up my arm. "What is this?" I ask.

"That's what we'd like to know, I guess it means that the darkness finally accepted you.." Luna said as she looked at the pattern.

"That's great! I guess I'm done bonding with my souls now!" I flop back on my pillow.

"Not really, you still have the elements ice and fire remember, you have to repair your material soul with your elemental souls to them now." Luna said as she licked her paw and then her face. I groaned in despair at the thought of having to be killed again but this time being drowned or burned.

"Don't be so sad, fire and ice are more friendly, darkness is very rare to have so it takes more time and energy bonding with them. You could say they're very picky about their wielder," Astro assures me.

"Well then, after 999 times, I managed to bond with the darkness. I wonder how many times it'll be to bond with fire and ice," I sigh.

"999 times, the perfect number for humans," Luna says. Oh yeah, 9 is the lucky number for humans...

"Well, I guess you better get ready for today," Astro comments.

I nod and get out of bed. Unlike last night in the dark room, my body was perfectly fine. No scratches or injuries were there. Soon, my maid, Lillian came in.

"Good morning milady, I see you are up bright and early for today," she says as she heads towards the wardrobe and picks out a nice butter yellow summer dress for me to wear.

"It just seems like too good of a day to waste," I reply as I head towards the bathroom to brush my teeth. At the start, I felt uncomfortable about maids dressing and bathing me but soon I got used to it. Lillian ran my bath and dried and styled my hair once I was done.

She braided the sides of my hair and joined it in the middle with a yellow ribbon. She then picked out some white socks and black shoes for me to wear and then led me to breakfast. I had Astro hide the weird pattern on my arm from everyone and followed my maid to the dining table.

"Morning mother, morning father," I greeted my parents and sat at my usual chair opposite my mother next to my father.

"Good morning silverdrop," that was my nickname. All of our blood-related family had some relation to silver. Mother was the only one who didn't since she was married into the family but apart from that, we all have silver hair or eyes.

My father nodded at me before going back to reading his newspaper. The maids came in with trays of food, it was always a feast anytime it was time to eat. I helped myself to some bread and jam.

My mother always ate French toast with salad and eggs while my father had steamed salmon with lemon and herb topped with some salad and a cup of tea. I didn't drink tea yet for fear that the caffeine might stunt my growth, instead, I had milk.

"Ah yes, the crown prince will visit today Sylvia, be sure to be ready, I've already informed the butler to prepare a dinner outside so you can dine with him," my mother informed me.

I felt dread creep over me like a plague. I didn't want to see that two faced prince but ever since the announcement of our engagement, he's been sending me letters and since he's the crown prince, I'm forced to send letters back.

"Thank you for telling me mother, may I be excused. I want to be ready for when the crown prince arrives," really I just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry but my manner lessons have changed me for life.

"Of course, why not wear that new dress that came in, I'm sure the prince would like it very much," my mother suggested.

"That's a great idea mother. Lillian, please prepare the new dress that I've received. For now, I shall be in the library," I say to Lillian as I head towards the library.

I'm not sure if anyone else knows this, but I've found a secret room in the back of the library where the light can't reach. It was pretty easy to crack the code, it was a riddle in my last life.

It was: eleven, six, three, five...The answer was obviously four and when I put the code in, the door opened.

It opened a new stack full of really old books. I've been reading a few every day for a month in hopes to find out how to control my power. Instead, I now know every poison under the sun and spells that can turn the tide in a war.

Of course, I wasn't going to use these for my own sake but I was really curious about what knowledge they had. In the end... I read every book here. I was putting this last book back before I noticed something on the desk. It was a book that I'd never seen before sitting on the desk as it has always been there. I don't know why I've never noticed the book. When I was going to grab the book I heard Lillian calling my name.

"Miss Sylviana! The prince will be here soon! You need to get ready!" I groaned as I slipped out of the secret room and strode towards Lillian.

"I'm here Lillian, I was just putting some books back," I lie.

"The dress you asked for is in your room, there's a bath already run for you, we have much to prepare for," Lillian led me to the bathroom where four extra maids were waiting. Two maids helped me bathe while the other two were fighting over accessories.

I didn't say anything since that would take an extra hour or so, I just let them battle it out. The dress I picked out was a white and blue dress that reminded me of my past life. I immediately loved it so I bought it.

My maids finally decided on some dark blue low heels with knee-length white socks. My hair was tied back into a pony with a lock of my hair being braided and tied in a blue black ribbon. I looked like a really cute doll if I do say so myself.

"Miss, the crown prince is waiting in the lounge," Lillian said. I nodded and walked to the lounge. When I opened the doors...

Cliffhanger! Sorry but this chapter is long enough.
