Praise the Lord who finally got rid of my writer's block!

"Sylviana, meet Karl Abarathos hHfelia and Cordelia Delfisa Hefelia, King and queen of Hefelia," my mom introduced me to a very beautiful couple. They looked like models. The King had ashy silver hair and the queen had honey blonde hair. I can tell that Rin and Len were related to the mother's side of the royal family.

"Hello, my name is Sylviana de crystal Scilla, nice to meet you," I curtsy and look at the couple. They were so young! What skincare do they use?

"My, what a delightful child you have argent, she is certainly well mannered," King Karl said to my father.

"How I wished I had a daughter, I would have dressed her up in the cutest dresses and styled her hair," the queen sighed. My mother laughed at the queen and they both were chatting like old friends.

"Say, Arabella... What do you say about Sylviana becoming my daughter too?" The queen asked. Wait... What!? What was she getting at?

"That sounds like a wonderful idea, doesn't it argent?" My mother looked back at my father, he simply nodded his head.

"Then it's settled, how lucky we are!" The King laughed as he clapped his hands. What's going on?????? What's settled? Don't keep me in the dark! As soon as the King clapped his hands, everyone in the ballroom looked toward him.

"Ace von Klioth Hefelia, come up please," the King called out. Ace von Klioth Hefelia... The first capture target?! A little boy walked up, he was the little boy from earlier!!! Crap! Now that I take a good look at him, he looks exactly like the King.

I was in shock, the timid boy before was now confidently standing before me. Wait, why was he coming here in the first place?

"I hereby announce that my son, Ace von Klioth Hefelia, the crown prince and future king of hefelia will be engaged to Sylviana de Crystal Scilla, daughter of duke Scilla!" The King announces.

Many people clapped but I just stood there. MY PLAN FAILED! I could hear Astro and Luna laughing in the back of my mind, I'll deal with them later. I looked at the prince, he just stared back and grinned. Excuse me, but where is the soft-hearted prince? All I see is a little two-faced devil!

"Nice to meet you, my fiancée," ace took my hand and kissed it. I could feel my face getting ten times redder, everyone in the ballroom clapped but all I could do was write my will before my death. T.T

I couldn't remember much after the announcement since I was still processing what had happened. Ace was just staring at me with that devilish grin while I was busy stress eating. Damn, palace food was good.

When it was time to leave, I realised that I haven't met any of the other capture targets or the heroine. This is great! Maybe she chose another route instead of the prince which means I'm in the clear for now!

My father let me go since he was thinking I was ecstatic about becoming the crown prince's fiancée but I was really planning on how to break this engagement without me dying in the process. Maybe I should bet my money on the heroine choosing the prince, I mean he is the future king of hefelia so she would be set for life.

As I head past the garden, I see a brunette stomping her foot on the ground and muttering something under her breath. Before I could see her face, my mother called me to board the carriage so I left before she showed her face.

My first plan went to hell but I was determined to stop Rin's assassination. All I need is to be invited to the party and to level my magic up so I can actually protect her.

Luna: We can help you with that, huh... You guys can?!

Astro: Of course, we are extremely well versed in dark magic. We'll be more than happy to help our master level up.

You guys are life savers, literally. When do we get started?

Luna: tomorrow, after my cat nap.

Wow... 250,000 years old and still taking naps...

Night time

It's 2 IN THE MORNING and I'm outside in the cold.

"What the hell kind of training is this?!?" I yell at Astro and Luna, while still shivering.

"The best way to train your element is when you're in your element, so in your case, it's darkness," Astro explains.

"It's bothersome in this form, we'll change into something more practical," suddenly, a purple light radiates from Astro and Luna and blinds me for a moment. When I open my eyes, I see a boy and girl standing where Luna and Astro have disappeared.

"This form is much better," the girl said.

"Indeed, it's easier to communicate, however, I love my animal form better," the boy added. I was shocked, these people were Luna and Astro???

Astro's human form had white hair and a fluffy wolf tail. He had a marking on his left eye and was dressed in all white.

Luna was the opposite, she had her Raven hair in pigtails with cat ears and tail sticking out, she had a cute kitty outfit on that made her look like a cosplayer and her eyes were the deepest shade of green.

"You guys look sooooo cute!!!!," I yell as I was fawning over the new outfit change. I've always wanted to cosplay in my last life but I died before I ever had the chance.

"Cute? Well, I guess this form may seem cute to you. I mean, it's not like I can change into my real form all day," Luna said as she checked herself in a nearby pond.

"I agree, this form will also help us for when you enrol in school. We can just pose as maid and bodyguard," Astro said as he began to stretch his legs.

"Humph, I will NEVER pose as a maid! I am the midnight cat! And besides, I think you'd look way better than me in a maids outfit," she sneered. I could tell Astro and Luna were about to fight again so I quickly cut in.

"Ok then... So are you guys gonna teach me magic?" I ask. It was night and I really wanted to go to sleep.

"Oh yeah, that," what do you mean by: that??? It's a pretty big deal and deserves more than just... That.

"It's pretty simple, all you have to do is let the darkness in. Think of it as letting your two souls combine," Astro said.

"What do you mean?"

"Your elements are like a part of your soul. To activate your magic and train it, you have to join your elemental soul and material soul together, think of it as seeing a rip in a cloth. All you have to do is breathe and let the darkness in, make sure to keep breathing," Luna tutored.

I crossed my legs into a meditating pose and tried to let the darkness in, but like hell I'd forget to breathe.

"It's not working," I say as I open an eye.

"Then you're not thinking hard enough," Astro replied. I closed my eyes again and imagined a thread sewing a cloth as Luna said. Suddenly, the thread turned black and it was staining the cloth. The cloth started to vanish and soon, I started to feel suffocated, like someone was putting a bag over my head and you'd never guess what... I forgot how to breathe.

"Snap out of it!" I hear Luna scream as my cheek started to burn. I open my eyes and realised that luna slapped me.

"OWWW! What was that for???" I moan as I rub my cheek.

"What the hell was that?" I looked at Astro who was looking at me with eyes that could kill you.

"What do you mean?"

"You were drowning in your power, it was literally killing you," Luna said. I stood there shocked, my power was drowning me?

"You must have more power than we thought. We've truly never seen anything like that before," Astro said as he helped me up. "Now, you have to train twice as hard in order to get your mana under control. Every day, you must interact with the darkness until it stops trying to consume you,"

"Wait, how do I do that?" I ask, brushing off any dirt that stuck onto my coat.

"Beats us, you have to do this yourself, we can't help you. We'll only be there to help you if your power tries to kill you again," Luna explains.

Great, so... They're going to spectate me being pummelled by my power until it decides it's had enough of trying to kill me. I tried to interact with the darkness two more times before going inside. Each time, the darkness tried to snuff me out and Luna had to slap me back. This magic stuff is more complicated than it looks...
