Chapter 32
The Educator
Elliot and I were having our dinner after the doctors told us the results of the test. According to Dr. Stevens, there was nothing to be worried about but she did advise us to constantly see her every six months for a check-up. I was feeling much better than I was a few hours ago.
âWhat do you want to do tomorrow?â Elliot asks me. I blink at him and he realizes, âwell, thatâs of course, if you want to go out stillâ he adds.
I shake my head, âNah, Iâll be sending our clothes to the laundry and start packing. Bring out the clothes you will be wearing from tomorrow until we leaveâ I tell him.
Elliotâs face drops a little, probably a little disappointed. He places his bowl on the table, places my hand in his and raises my hand to his lips. Elliot is just silent but his eyes speak a thousand words.
I place my hand on his cheek, âElliot, this is not your faultâ I tell him. Elliot sighs and stays silent. âthis is not something we expected, this not something we wanted to happenâ.
âEli, I have so much on my mind and this, whatâs happening to you, is clouding my mind. I donât know what to do, how to help you, how to protect youâ
he starts to say, âEli, I have to tell you somethingâ he adds.
I look at him blankly, waiting for him to continue, âWhat?â
Elliot clears his throat, âI have to add security to the apartmentâ he starts to say.
I nod, âI understand, Elliotâ
âWait, before you thank me, thereâs something elseâ
âWhat?â I ask âOnce you start attending school, Iâll be providing you with a driver and a bodyguard. He will keep his distance, I promiseâ his tone is as if he was trying to convince me.
I know I should not scrimmage. I know I should be mad, the works but I wasnât. I understood him. I know what this is, what had just happened. Elliot wasnât doing this because he was just possessive, toxic or territorial. This is all for my safety, as well as his.
âElliot, I understand. I knowâ I assure him, âbut what about you? At the office?â
He sighs, âWe will be adding more security personnel on each floor. We will be enhancing the security systems as well as add safety trainings for the security personnelâ
The Educator ï¤Chapter 31: 31 âElliot, what about your family?â
âI called them. I told them what happened. They were so worried about youâ
I smile a little, knowing that his family is treating me like their own. Elliotâs family was not like any other arranged marriage family. They acted as if theyâve known me longer than anyone else. âI appreciate that, Elliot, but again, what about your family? Will you be adding security for them as well?â
He nods, âI have no other choiceâ. Elliot sighs and says, âI have added security for your family as well. But ...â he trials off.
I raise a brow, âBut. . .â I urge him to continue.
âBut I have not told them of what happenedâ he says, âthey raised questions on the added security but I told them I would be explaining everything when we get homeâ
âWhat about the housewarming?â I asked He looks at me for a moment, âWe could still have it but it would be limited to immediate familyâ he tells me. I sigh and lean back on the headboard. I was already planning the part in my head, the food, the invitation and the flow of the program.
âElliot, I have something to ask youâ I start, âare you sure you have no one who might have done all this?â I ask him again. He did not answer me the last time.
âEli, I donât have anyone who I think would do thisâ he starts to say, âbut it seems like they have been lurking and stalking us for some timeâ
I raise a brow, âAnd how are you able to conclude that?â
He shakes his head, âits just a hunchâ he says The Educator
