Officer Saetang sighs and looks ta her partner, Officer Chen. Officer Chen looks at her partner, Officer Chen. Officer Chen looks at me for a while before he starts talking, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith we have searched the area, it seems like nothing was taken as per your husband” Officer Chen glances at Elliot for a moment. “Which means a worse case. Break-ins usually happen in the middle of the night until dawn or before the sun goes down whenever there are no people are the residence. In your case, it was early in the morning and again, nothing was taken. This may mean that they were not there to steal valuables but to get to know you and your behavior. Most cases it’s not the first and last time that they will visit you and most of the time, people who conduct break-ins either conceptualize a kidnapping or an in-house monitoring of the members of the household”

I blink more than five times, “Wait, I don’t understand”

Elliot comes close to me, holds my hand and says, “My wife is in the middle of recovering from something we still don’t know yet. If we can postpone this to tomorrow, we would really appreciate that”

“No, I can do this, I just can you speak to me in layman’s terms?” I tell the officers.

“Mrs. Smith, these people have been watching you, taking their time to get to know you so that they know when to strike. What we’re not so sure is their motive, either kidnapping or some sort of blackmail”

“Blackmail? How would they do that?” I ask them. Elliot is silent but his hold on my hand is tight.

“We had several cases her wherein cameras were planted in the house and private moments were caught and these people were threated that either the video would be leaked or they pay a certain amount”

My heart stops for a moment, “Were they able to plant cameras in our suite?”

“No, they were not able to do that. That’s why the hotel advised you to move suites.” Officer Saetang said.

“So, what do we do now? Do you have any leads?” I ask them.

“We’re trying to get as much angle as we can from the cameras but we’re a little slow on that information because according to security, their cameras were not able to record anything for today”

“Wait, so what happens now?” I ask them The officers looked at one another then back at me, “Well, for now Mrs. Smith, we would like to thank you for your cooperation. Take as much rest as you can and if you happen to remember anything or anyone your might have talked to over the last few days, let us know. We understand that this if your and Mr. Smith’s honeymoon and we are very sorry this happened” Officer Chen apologies.

The Educator Chapter 30: 30 “We will keep in touch, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. If there is anything you might need, just let us know” Detective Huang says.

Elliot thanks them and escorts them out of the room. The doctors and nurses were still busy trying to relay the results of my blood and urine.

“Eli” Elliot whispers I look up at him, “Elliot, do you have anyone who might have a grudge?” I ask Elliot.

He then falls silent.
