Get Me Married
Chapter 3: Genesis Connor ABIGAIL CONNOR The moment the car arrived at the hospital, Connor ran out with Ava in his arms. I ran in front of him and called the attention of nurses and doctors but most of them seemed busy and stared at me like I was a mad woman. âHelp, she is dying, she isâ¦.â My voice was hoarse from crying so much, I could barely hear myself. I ran to the receptionist and and banged on the canter. âPlease, why isnât anyone helpingâ I cried. The nurse at the desk raised her head up from her computer and gave me a split second look before she returned to what she was doing with her computer. âHave you been registered in this hospital before maâamâ the nurse at the reception asked without looking at me once and I stared at her in horror. How could she be asking that when someone was dying? âNo.
noâ¦.â I replied her quickly. âMaâam you need to get registeredâ she said unconcerned. âCome-on please, someone should attend to her first, pleaseâ my husband pleaded and she went mute. âCan someone help, while I register her?â I asked and she remained mute. âcanât you see that she is dying?â
I yelled. âyou need to register your name maâamâ she said indifferently. âSomeone should just take her in pleaseâ Connor pleaded still. âYou have been delaying, if she dies, itâs on youâ the nurse said rudely and more tears flowed from my eyes. âIs that the way you speak to people around here?â a voice yelled coldly from behind us and we turned around. It was the wife of the formal head of state, the lady that had helped us. âMaâamâ¦.Iâ¦.do youâ¦..â the nurse behind the desk stuttered. âGet them immediate attention nowâ she barked at the nurse who looked frightened and immediately walked out from the canter and urged us to follow which we did without delay. We followed the nurse who pointed us to a different nurse who took us to a different room and there we laid Ava. âLeave the room pleaseâ a doctor walked in immediately followed by various nurses. âPlease save herâ I was able to mutter at the sight of how pale Ava became before Connor pulled me out of the room. âOh myâ¦what are we going to do, I canât loose herâ I cried and Connor gathered me in his arms. I couldnât afford to loose my baby, she was my child, I bore her in my womb and she had been suffering for so long I couldnât bare it anymore. âTake me in place of her please, I canât loose herâ¦..â âShhh, we ainât loosing anyone. No one is going in place of any person. We are all going to be fine, now you have to be strongâ Connor held me tighter, like my life depended on it. âYou have to be strong for Genesis, for Ava, for meâ he sounded scared but I could tell he was trying all he could to remain strong for me. LEONA CHASE For some reason, I didnât leave the hospital, I felt terrible for the child. I could see the helplessness in the eyes of her parents. I understood what they were going through, I understood the fear and tension, I understood the panic and the pain they were going through. I had been there several times, it wasnât an alien feeling to me. I felt strangely connected to them, so I stayed behind and watched from behind the scene as they both shed tears like children even without knowing the condition of their daughter yet. I watched them for a while till my phone rang and I had to walk away from where I stood and picked it up immediately. It was my p.a, she was a pain in my ass but she was always efficient and effective when it came to her work and I knew in my stone coded heart that I would not get a p.a like her in years time if she was to leaveâ¦.. ever. âGo on..â I said in my normal tone of language and waited for her to report to me. âSamantha Brandon is in Netherland right now and I was able to get through to her but she isnât willing to reschedule so you both can have an official meetingâ she reported and I immediately started feeling a migraine coming up. I remained quiet while thoughts ran through my head. If she didnât want to fix a meeting with me, how else was I supposed to explain to her that she had to marry Jordan? âCan you get me in line with her?â that was the only way I could think of. âYes, give me a few minutesâ she said and I hung up. I sighed in clear frustration, when I remembered I still needed to get Jordan a wife in two weeks. Just as my thoughts ran to and fro, I decided to get some painkillers for my migraine before I left for home. So I headed to the pharmaceutical department but not without looking around, though all I could see were my security men but I still looked around. When something caught my attention. Or someone rather. She was lying down on a sick bed in one of the hospital rooms and I couldnât help but stop and stare at her. Though she was sick and a little bit pale, her beauty was beyond this world and the more I stared at her, I couldnât help but think about her as a daughter in-law.
She was beautiful and could meet up to the family standard with her looks alone. â I canât believe you fell sick after graduation. Your mom would be so worriedâ a girl her age said to her. âI mean they have your sister to take care of and now youâ the other girl sitting by her side said. âGuysâ¦.they donât know I am here, and you canât tell them I am sickâ the girl I admired so much said. âThey didnât meet up for my graduation ceremony because of Ava, I donât want them worrying about meâ she added. The girls beside her went quiet and stared at her. âNate, Tiana and I gathered some money, but they wonât be enough for your hospital billâ one of the girls said and they all went quiet again. âExcuse me maâamâ
someone stood in front of me with a tray of food in his hands âCan I help you?â he asked and I stared at him, unsure of what I wanted help for, I stared down at his hands and then back at the girl. âYou know her right?â I asked and he looked at me unsure for a moment. âYes maâam..â he replied. âWhatâs her name?â I asked and again he looked at me unsure of himself. âGenesis Connorâ he replied and a faint smile spread across my face before I left. My phone rang again and my p.a once again was still efficient. I picked the call and waited for her to speak. âI will be putting you through to her maâamâ she said and the phone beeped. âYes, Samantha Brandon hereâ her voice came through the other end of the line and I exhaled in relief. âItâs Leona Chaseâ I simply said and waited for her reaction. âGood day maâamâ she replied with a voice that insinuated that she didnât want to speak to me. âI have been told that you are too busy to schedule a meeting between usâ I said. âYes maâamâ She simply said and I couldnât help but roll my eyes at Jordanâs choice of a wife. I just didnât like that girl. âWell, let me go straight to the point thenâ I started. âYou and Jordan were a thing for a long time I guess, before you broke his heart and left the cityâ I said the obvious. âThe universe has given you a second chance so to speakâ I said in the nicest way possible. âA chance at what?â she asked. âA chance to be Jordanâs bride. Before he comes forward with his request, I want to be sure of what you want. Will you be his wife?â I asked and the phone went silent while I hoped she would be the one to end my dilemma. âNoâ
her voice came strong and firm. I knew immediately that she didnât need more time to think about the request, she knew what she was doing and she sounded sure of it. âOkayâ my voice remained in the tone it was like I wasnât affected by her actions but weakness was never a strong point for me. âHope I get to see you soon thoughâ I added. âI will try my best maâamâ she said and we ended the conversation. The pain in my head increase immensely and I hastened my footstep to the pharmacy. I got the drugs and decided it was time to leave the hospital. I had to pick a bride soon, I had to get Jordan married and so far Samantha was out of the picture. So I had more work caught out for me, finding a bride wasnât the problem. Jordan, my son was. As I walked towards the entrance, I saw the couples I had brought earlier to the hospital and went closer to them. âWhat are we going to do?â the wife cried. âWe donât have such amount of money. How is she supposed to get a kidney transplant, even if we sell everything we own, we still canât raise such an amountâ she cried bitterly and my heart went out to them. âShould we call Genesis?â the wife suddenly asked and my ears perked up in a strange way, it was the third time I was hearing that name in that hospital. It was the same name as the name of that pretty girl I had seen and I couldnât help but smile a little at the thought that came to my head. âWe missed her graduation Abigail, because we were busy taking care of Ava. She had been through a lot also and deserves a little bit of peace before she comes back home. Let her be for nowâ
the husband replied and I moved closer to them. âButâ¦..â âHer presence here wonât fetch us the money we want would it?â he interrupted her. âConnor â¦â the wife whimpered. At the thought of their conversation and the conversation I just heard from the pretty young lady I saw earlier. I couldnât help but find a connection between them. I turned towards the entrance of the building immediately with a smile on my face. I didnât need the painkillers to ease my pain, that day was a lucky day for me. I made my way to the car while dialing my p.a âYes maâamâ¦â she stated immediately. âGet me all you can find on a Genesis Connor by morningâ I said and entered my car. âAnd I wonât be leaving the country anymore, let the plane have a rest, I found my treasure right hereâ I said and dropped the phone. A smile plastered on my face as the convoy started moving. If things were the way I thought they were.
Then I had seen my bride after all. Genesis Connor You have to say something about Leona Chase?
