Chapter 10
Alpha Maximus:The last lycan
Hope
Slowly, I step out from behind Nathan, still blushing after seeing his enormous member. I
gently place my hand in his. He rubs the back of my hand with his thumb, sending sparks between
us. He smiles at me with his big blue eyes.
âLet's go,â he says, I nod, and let him lead me out of the dungeon. It's so bright outside. I use
my free hand to shield my eyes from the sun. Being in that dungeon for weeks, it had been a while
since I had seen daylight.
He opens the door of a long, black car, I've never seen before. He gestures for me to hop in but
everything is glary, and my eyes are hurting too much.
Noticing I'm struggling to see; he puts his hands on my hips and guides me into the backseat.
He gets dressed in black pants and a white shirt, and sits down next to me. Nathan gets in the
driver's seat.
âI'll drive, he says. Their driver is dead. Alpha Max puts his arm around me, pulling me into his
chest.
âDo your eyes hurt, my love?â He asks, sending a hot shiver through my body. I nod.
âClose your eyes and rest your head on my chest. They will adjust soon,â he says, softly, stroking
my hair.
I doze off the moment my head rests on his chest.
I sit up squinting, my eyes don't hurt anymore and I can see properly. We aren't in Blackwood. I
haven't left Blackwood before, and everything is unfamiliar.
âFeeling better?â Alpha Max asks me, and I nod and smile which makes him smile.
âYou've been asleep half the day,â he says.
âOh, sorry,â I reply. He grabs my hands and kisses them, making me blush.
âDon't be sorry. You needed the sleep. You know we haven't been properly introduced yet,â he
says, smiling.
âI'm Alpha Maximus of the Blood Moon pack. I've been searching desperately for you. You don't
know how happy I am to have found you,â he says with a beaming smile.
Smiling, I blush at his sweet words. I thought I would never hear anyone say such nice things to
me.
âWhat might your name be?â He asks, and I smile up at him
âHope,â I reply, sweetly.
Alpha Max shifts into Chaos who lets out a snarl and Nathan panics.
âNo Chaos! You are not going back there to kill the rest of them!â Nathan yells. I shuffle towards
Nathan.
âIs Chaos going to hurt me?â I ask, unsure what's happening. Chaosâ face changes from angry to
hurt when I ask that question. He whimpers and slowly brings his snout to my face. I think he wants
me to pat him. I hesitantly stroke his face. I smile when he completely relaxes and purrs like a cat. I
giggle and let him lick my face.
âStop Chaos,â I giggle, playfully pushing his snout away. I look at Nathan who has the biggest
grin on his face.
âYou know, I have never, in twenty-three years knowing Alpha Max, seen this side of his lycan,â
he says, in disbelief.
âReally? He is really cute and adorable,â I say, rubbing my nose against his wet snout, and
Nathan laughs.
âI never thought I'd see the day someone would say that about Chaos,â he confesses. Chaos
gives a quick snap and a growl at Nathan.
âWhoa boy! You know I'm just kidding,â Nathan says.
âI know you're being a very good boy, but I'd like to talk to Alpha Max. Maybe I'll give you
another cuddle later?â I sweetly tell him, smiling up at Alpha Max who looks like he has seen a ghost.
âNathan, did she just control Chaos?â He asks, amazed.
âYep. I'm struggling to believe it too.â He answers.
âWhy did you shift when I said my name?â I ask Alpha Max. He raises a brow and looks at
Nathan briefly.
âI don't know," he says. âI love your name... Hope... I know we could all use some in this world
and you have brought hope to my life, now that I've found you," he says.
Alpha Max, shocked that I've wrapped my arms around him, puts his arms around me, and
hugs me.
âIt's going to take a few weeks to arrive at Blood Moon pack. I'll contact the packs along the
way to have a room ready for overnight stays."
We arrive at Silent Howl pack, where it's snowing and I'm freezing. Alpha Max gives me one of
his shirts to put over my ragged dress. It's plain black and looks like a dress, as it reaches my knees.
My nerves grow; it's my first time at another pack house. I cling to the back of Alpha Max's shirt and
stay close to him while Nathan walks behind us. They know I'm scared and nervous. Alpha Max
holds my hand behind his back and we walk up the path to the pack house.
People are standing around, staring at us, whispering and chattering, but none of them
approach or greet us.
A tall, masculine man with blonde hair walks towards us.
Peeking from behind Alpha Max's back, I make brief eye contact with the man. He is angry. I
freeze and hide behind Alpha Max.
âAlpha Liam,â Alpha Max greets him, and he scoffs.
âI think you have a lot of explaining to do, Alpha Max," he says. His back stiffens.
âIs there a problem?â Max asks.
âWe have just had word that you murdered and wiped out half the Blackwood pack after you
kidnapped Alpha Tate's mate! Tell me it isn't true,â he says.
âI think we should have this conversation inside,â Max suggests, as more and more pack
members come out.
âNo. You will hand the girl over so she can be returned to Alpha Tate. And you will leave. You're
banned from entering our territory again.â Max growls as his eyes shift into Chaosâ black eyes. Chaos
presses me against his chest.
âMine!â He snarls, making the pack take a step back.
I look up into his black eyes.
âChaos. I won't go with them. I'm going to stay here with you. But you need to let Max have
control right now,â I whisper. His shoulders relax and his heartbeat slows down. I stay pressed
against him to keep him calm.
âShe is my mate and I'd rather die than hand her back over to that bastard!â He yells at Alpha
Liam.
âThat can be arranged,â Alpha Liam says, nodding to his pack, and they charge towards us.
I fall backwards as Max shifts into his lycan, his clothes ripping off him, before he lets out a
warning grow! at the pack, shifting into their wolves. They don't back off or slow down. Nathan
helps me up.
âRun. Run to the car, and lock the doors! There are too many wolves. I'll help Alpha Max," he
says.
