The First Love

Scripture:

Revelation 2:4 (NIV) :

"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first."

Reflection:

The first love is a crazy love that we had for Jesus or maybe we are living it now. Do you remember the time when you were a better Christian, that you sought the Lord more, that you prayed more, read the Bible more, and preached more? Your relationship with God was much better than it is now. Well, it's the first love. You can even be living the first love for God now. If you are living this first love, don't abandon it. I know how it's not easy to keep it, but it's the best thing that we can do to have a close relationship with God. If you, who are reading this devotional, just notice this: you are not living your first love for God as before, today God is giving you a new opportunity to go back to your first love for Him.

Application:

Think about your first love for God.

If you are not in the first love , pray the prayer below, asking God for help to go back to your first love.

Prayer:

God, I really want to thank You for the opportunity that You are always giving us to have a close relationship with You. I want to ask for Your help to go back to my first love, where I was seeking You more, praying more, and reading the Bible more. I know that there are times when I fall as a Christian, but have mercy on me and forgive me. I also pray for my brothers-help them to have a better relationship with You. That's what I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen!
