Blood spilled out of her mouth and from the hole in her chest, she clutch her chest as blood oozed out of it. She coughed causing the blood from her mouth to spatter on the walls and her already-soaked clothes.Sandra dropped to her knees as more blood flowed from her open wound. Alex pushed open the door, and carried Laura out of the room, she was already unconscious. His men carried Sandra's dead body and took it to Mason's house, they knock on the gate and left, abandoning Sandra's body with a note.Alex drove like a madman to the hospital, the doctors hurriedly attended to her, they tried to stop the blood coming from her vagina. Alex stood outside the emergency room with a worried look.After the long wait, the doctor stepped out of the room, he disposed of his gloves before going to talk to Alexander."How is she?" Alexander asked"She is fine but she is still unconscious." the doctor replied.Alex sighed in relief, his heart calmed down but then he suddenly remembered something "how is the baby?" He asked"We did all we could but you were five minutes late" the doctor tapped his shoulder to console him before leaving to check on his other patients. Alex went to Laura's room, and she was still not awake, he sat next to her bed and held her hand."I failed you, Laura, I failed her family. I could not protect you, I am just like him, I am just like that man." Alex sobbed for the first time, he had tears in his eyes, how could he let this happen?A few hours later, she regained consciousness. Laura touched her head because of the throbbing pain she was feeling, "Alex?" She called. He rushed to her side,"How are you feeling?" He asked holding her hands"My head hurts but I am fine. How is my baby?" Alex chose not to tell her, at least not yet but he couldn't bring himself to lie to her."Let me call the doctor," she held his hand stopping him from moving further,"How is my baby, Alexander?" She asked with a serious voice."I am sorry Laura I failed, I failed you. I am sorry." Laura's lips trembled, and her hands crawled to her stomach, she held her stomach in tears, and an ear-piercing scream escaped her mouth."I want my baby Alex, bring back my baby." She cried holding on to his shirt, her tears soaked his shirt but he didn't mind it."Shhh calm down baby, you are not strong enough," Alex tried to console her but she doesn't want to be consoled, she wants her child."I told you to teach me how to handle a gun, if I had the experience I would have been able to protect my baby." She pushed him away with an angry look."I know I should have listened but I didn't want you to hurt yourself, Laura I know it is my fault but please don't push me away.“"I am feeling tired, I want to rest please leave me alone." She turned her back on him and lay down on the bed. Alex went out of the room and sat on the bench. He called Dexter to bring Kimberly, she was brought thirty-five minutes later."Your mommy is feeling miserable baby, go talk to her, try to cheer her up." She nodded and went to the room. She could hear her whimpers and it shattered her little heart."Mommy?" She called taking tiny steps towards her. Laura whipped her tears when she heard her voice, she sat up on the bed and extended her hands for Kimberly to take."How are you doing princess?" She asked Kimberly who smiled sadly."I am fine. Mommy Daddy said you are feeling miserable, sorry for what happened to my brother." tears spilled out of her eyes but she wiped them off."It's not your fault, maybe he wasn't meant to be born into this world." She hugged Kimberly on the bed and closed her eyes "besides, I have you." She kissed Kimberly's hair dotingly.Meanwhile outside the hospital, Dexter patted Alex on the shoulder "this shouldn't have happened Dexter, I've lost my child and my woman doesn't want anything to do with me.""Things like these are inevitable, we have no control over them and your line of work doesn't make things better.""I had to meet Massimo because I couldn't save her on my own, that pin outsmarted me." Alex muttered holding his head in shame."It wasn't in your power Alex, let Laura calm down, she is just in shock." They could hear Kimberly and Laura in the room talking, Alex peaked in, Laura had spooned Kimberly and the both of them were talking and smiling although the smile on Laura's face was a sad one."You should go in there Alex, she might say she needs space but I know she needs you more. She needs your shoulder to cry on and you sitting here won't help her." He stood off and left.He stood up and went in, "Laura I know you blame me for what happened but can you please not send me away" he muttered looking at her. Kimberly stood up and went to the only chair available in the room and sat on it."I shouldn't have blamed you, I was just overwhelmed by the news, I was looking for who to blame and you were there." She wipe the drop of tears that slipped out of her eyes.He hugged her and she burst into tears causing Kimberly to cry too. The air in the room was really stuffed, "my baby" she muttered in tears.
