Chapter 41

From Shock to Joy

Playboy's Heart

Sky had been looking forward to this. A break from filming meant he could finally spend time with Nani, and what better way than surprising him with lunch at his company? He had even woken up early to prepare Nani's favorite dishes, packing them neatly before setting off with Ariya.

Ariya had been just as excited, happily swinging Sky's hand as they made their way through the company building. When they arrived at Nani's office, Nani had looked exhausted, but the moment he saw them, his eyes softened, and a small smile broke through his tired expression.

"You didn't have to come all the way here" Nani murmured, but he didn't resist when Sky gently nudged him from his desk to the couch, setting the lunchbox in front of him.

Ariya climbed onto Nani's lap, patting his cheek "Papa, eat!" she ordered in the most adorable way possible, making both Sky and Nani chuckle.

They started eating, Sky keeping a close eye on Nani, who was eating slower than usual. Just when Sky was about to comment on it, Nani suddenly pushed his chair back and bolted toward the bathroom.

Sky's heart dropped. "Nani?" He quickly stood up, about to follow, but Ariya clung to his sleeve.

"Papa?" she mumbled, confused.

Sky crouched down, brushing her hair gently. "Papa is just not feeling well. Stay here, okay?"

Ariya nodded, still looking uncertain, but she obediently stayed put as Sky rushed after Nani.

Inside the bathroom, Nani was hunched over the sink, his breathing uneven.

Sky immediately placed a hand on his back. "Nani, what's wrong? Are you sick?"

Nani shook his head, rinsing his mouth. "I'm just... tired." he said, but even he didn't sound convinced.

Sky frowned, stepping in front of him and cupping his face gently. "You look pale. You've been exhausted since we got back from Japan. Should we go to the hospital?"

"I don't need to go to the hospital," Nani muttered, avoiding Sky's gaze. "It's just work catching up to me."

Sky didn't buy it, but before he could argue further, the sound of voices echoed from outside.

"Where's Nani?" Win's voice carried into the office. "And where's Sky?"

"We just got off work and thought we'd drop by," Dew added.

Ariya's tiny voice answered them"Papa went to the bathroom! Daddy went too!"

By the time Nani and Sky returned, Win and Dew were standing there, both looking relaxed until they got a proper look at Nani.

"Whoa" Win whistled. "You look like you fought with a ghost and lost."

Dew frowned, stepping closer. "Are you okay? You really don't look good."

Sky tightened his grip on Nani's hand, worry clear in his eyes. "He's been feeling off all morning, and he just threw up."

Win raised an eyebrow. "And you're still saying it's just work?"

Nani sighed, rubbing his temple. "It is work...."

Ariya suddenly ran up and tugged on Nani's pants, looking up at him with big, concerned eyes. "Papa sick?"

Nani crouched down, giving her a reassuring smile. "Papa's okay, baby."

But as he said that, his own stomach twisted uncomfortably again. He clenched his jaw, trying to brush the feeling away. Sky watched him carefully. His instincts were screaming at him, something wasn't right.

--

It was the weekend, and Nani decided to go to the hospital alone. The doctor had confirmed it quickly—Nani was pregnant. The baby was only a week along, barely even a tiny speck yet, but the confirmation hit him like a wave. He sat there in the sterile office for a moment, staring at the screen where the doctor showed him the faintest image of the little life that had already begun to form.

A week. That was exactly the time he started suspecting he might be pregnant. But hearing the truth, seeing the reality, made everything feel so surreal.

Nani walked out of the sterile office, still trying to process the doctor's words. His mind was buzzing, but the air outside felt strangely calming. He was trying to keep it together, but there was this overwhelming mix of emotions he couldn't quite name.

And then, as if fate had decided he'd had enough time alone with his thoughts, he ran straight into Dew and Tee, who were walking.

"Nani! What are you doing here?" Tee greeted with his usual bright smile, but his eyes quickly caught the pallor of Nani's face, the faint tremor in his hands.

Dew, walking slightly behind Tee, immediately noticed something was off. "Nani? You okay?" he asked.

Before Nani could respond, Tee's gaze shifted. His eyes landed on the signs for "Maternity Care" and "Pregnancy Tests" nearby. Yeah, that is right. The realization hit him instantly.

"Wait, Nani... you're not...?" Tee's voice dropped to a whisper, his eyes widening as he looked back at Nani.

Nani froze, caught off guard by Tee's realization. His heart skipped a beat, and before he could speak, Dew was already looking at him, confusion spreading across his face.

"You're at the maternity section..." Dew trailed off, his voice faltering as it clicked in his mind. He glanced at Tee, who was already taking a step toward Nani.

Nani's breath caught in his throat. His mind raced, and for a moment, he considered walking away, avoiding the conversation altogether. But instead, he swallowed hard.

"Yeah," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm... I'm pregnant."

--

The next day, everyone gathered at Nani's house for dinner. The kitchen was filled with the sounds of chopping vegetables and sizzling pans.

Tee, ever the chatterbox, casually glanced over at Nani as they set the table. "So... have you told Sky yet?" he asked, his voice light, but there was a glint of concern in his eyes.

Nani looked up from where he was stirring a pot on the stove, his brow furrowed. He hadn't told Sky yet. The weight of it all was heavy, and despite Dew and Tee's encouragement, Nani just wasn't sure how to bring it up. He had been avoiding the conversation for days, hoping the right moment would come, but now, with everyone gathered at his house, the pressure was starting to mount.

"I... I haven't" Nani admitted quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. He wiped his hands on a towel and leaned against the counter, taking a deep breath. "I don't know how. Sky's been so busy lately, his career is taking off, and I just don't want to ruin everything for him. He's been working so hard."

Dew, who had been chopping carrots, paused and looked over at Nani. "You're not ruining anything, Nani" he said gently. "Sky cares about you, more than anything. He's going to want to be there for you, no matter what."

Tee nodded in agreement, though there was a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Besides, keeping something like this from him? It's only going to make things harder in the long run. You know Sky will appreciate the honesty."

Nani ran a hand through his hair, his thoughts a jumbled mess. He knew Dew and Tee were right. But the idea of disrupting Sky's life, especially with his acting career in full swing, felt too selfish.

"I just don't want to hold him back" Nani murmured, staring down at his hands. "He's so happy with his acting right now, and I... I don't want to change that. I don't want him to have to stop everything for me."

Tee smiled softly, walking over to Nani and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Nani, listen to me. Sky loves you. And if you keep this from him, you're doing both of you a disservice. This isn't about his career. It's about your future together."

Dew added with a knowing smile, "And you know what? If he takes a break, that's because he wants to, not because you're asking him to."

Nani met their gazes, their support and understanding clear. He knew they were right. He couldn't keep avoiding the conversation. Sky needed to know, no matter how difficult it seemed.

"Okay" Nani said, his voice determined but still tinged with uncertainty. "I'll tell tonight." Tee grinned, clearly relieved.

As they all settled down at the dinner table, the atmosphere was warm and filled with laughter. Nani could feel the weight of the conversation he was about to have pressing on him, but he knew it was time. Dew and Tee kept exchanging glances, silently signaling him, urging him to go ahead and tell everyone.

The moment came when Nani cleared his throat, his eyes flickering to Sky, who was happily talking to Groya about some recent filming experience. Everyone else had settled into their usual banter, not yet aware of the tension brewing under the surface.

"Nani" Tee started casually, giving him a subtle nudge under the table. "You said you were going to tell everyone tonight, right?" His voice was light, but Nani could sense the weight of expectation behind it.

Nani swallowed hard, glancing around at his friends. His heart pounded in his chest, and he suddenly found himself wondering if he could do this at all. But then his gaze landed on Sky, who always made him feel safe, who loved him no matter what. That was enough to steady his nerves.

"Yeah" Nani began, his voice shaky at first but growing firmer as he spok, "I have something to tell." He paused, feeling the room grow quiet. His friends turned their attention toward him, and the air grew thick with curiosity. "I'm... pregnant."

A stunned silence followed. Everyone froze for a moment, processing what Nani had just said. Prim's eyes widened, and Bright's jaw nearly hit the table. Groya's eyes went wide, and she immediately covered her mouth with both hands, her expression a mix of disbelief and excitement.

But it was Win who broke the silence first. His eyes grew even larger, and his voice shot out dramatically. "Wait, hold on, WHAT?! You're... pregnant?!" He glanced at Tee in shock, and then back at Nani. "Hold on! That's TWO of you now? You're both pregnant?! Oh my god"

The rest of the group stared at them, blinking in disbelief. Groya was the next to recover, a huge grin breaking out on her face as she looked between Tee and Nani. "Oh my gosh! This is unreal, isn't it? First Tee, now Nani?"

Sky, who had been quietly listening, leaned forward in his chair, his face a mixture of shock and disbelief. His eyes were wide, his breath shallow, as he processed what Nani had just said. His hand instinctively reached for Nani's, trembling slightly. It was as if everything had come rushing toward him at once, and he couldn't quite grasp the reality of it.

Dew's voice cut through the heavy silence, gently breaking the tension. "We've been trying to tell him to be honest with you, Sky." he said softly. "He's been worried about how you might react."

Sky's hand tightened around Nani's, but his mind was still reeling. He couldn't believe it. He'd always dreamed of having another child after Ariya, but he had never wanted to pressure Nani. To think that this dream was suddenly coming true, in such a surprising and beautiful way, it felt almost too much to bear.

Before he knew it, tears started welling up in Sky's eyes. His breath hitched as he looked at Nani, his heart swelling with a mix of emotions that he couldn't quite put into words. "I... I can't believe this" he whispered, his voice cracking. "You're... we're going to have a baby?"

The room fell silent again, the weight of Sky's raw emotion filling the space. Nani, surprised by the tears, felt his heart ache. He hadn't expected this kind of reaction.

Sky suddenly stood up, his hands trembling with joy as he pulled Nani into a tight embrace, lifting him off the ground. With a burst of excitement, he spun them both around, unable to contain his happiness. "I've always wanted this" Sky whispered, his voice thick with emotion as he held Nani close. "I've always wanted another child... but I never wanted to push you. And now... now I'm so happy, Nani. So happy."

Nani's breath caught in his throat as Sky spun them. The world seemed to blur around him, and he clung to Sky, laughter escaping his lips despite the overwhelming emotions. He could feel Sky's joy, feel the relief in his embrace.

But as Sky continued to spin, Dew's voice rang out, teasing yet concerned, "Sky! Be careful, you're going to drop him!"

Sky immediately froze, realizing what he was doing. He gently set Nani back down, his hands still holding him, but now with a soft chuckle escaping from his lips. "Sorry! I just... I couldn't help it." he said, still beaming at Nani.

Nani smiled, his heart swelling as he looked up at Sky. "It's okay" he said softly, a hint of laughter in his voice. "I just wasn't ready for the spinning part."

Sky laughed too, his eyes shining with happiness as he kept Nani close. "I'm just so... so happy."

Win threw his hands in the air. "I'm going to need a break after this! I can't handle all the surprises this week!" Everyone laughed, and the tension eased.

Win scooped Ariya up into his arms with a dramatic flair. "Look at you, little one," he said, holding her up with a big smile. "You're going to have a little sibling soon! Guess what, you're not the only baby in town anymore!"

Ariya clapped her hands, her excitement infectious. "Yay! I'm going to be a big sister!"

The whole room was filled with laughter, and Nani felt a new warmth in his chest, seeing the joy all around him. Sky's hand tightened on his, and he gave him a soft squeeze. It was all falling into place, and Nani could feel the weight lifting off his shoulders.
