Chapter 94
Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love
Chapter 94 I Donât Mind Not Having A Father Elliot was en route to visit Corynn at the hospital when his phone rang. It was Owen, demanding his immediate return.
âIf youâre just calling to discuss these matters, thereâs no point in continuing this conversation,â Elliot said, his finger poised over the hangâup button.
Owenâs voice, urgent and forceful, broke through, ot, if you dare announce the cancellation of the engagement tomorrow, I will destroy everything your mother left for you right now!â
Elliotâs hand froze, his expression darkening.
Three years ago, Owen had used the same threat to coerce him into the engagement with the Willis family, otherwise, he would never have considered breaking up with Corynn.
âOwen, you know my temperament well. Have you forgotten how I removed you as head of the Andrews family?â Elliotâs tone was steady, yet those familiar with him could sense the simmering aggression.
âHow dare you! Iâm your father!â Owen shouted back, infuriated.
The incident from ten years ago, when Elliot had ousted him, was a deep humiliation.
The mere thought of it reignited Owenâs rage, making him regret not having dealt more decisively with his defiant son sooner.
Elliotâs lips twitched into a slight smirk. âI donât mind not having a father.â
With that, he ended the call, glanced once more at the building where Corynn was, and then turned away.
He still needed to retrieve his motherâs belongings.
Owen was utterly unworthy of handling anything that had belonged to his mother.
Owen, overwhelmed by anger, clutched his chest as his blood pressure soared.
Evan, who had just descended the stairs, noticed Owenâs distress and quickly administered blood pressure medication.
After a moment, Owen calmed down somewhat.
âDad, why let this upset you so much?â Evan patted Owenâs shoulder.
âItâs all because of that damned Elliot! He actually wants to kill me!â Owen exclaimed, his frustration palpable.
Evanâs expression darkened. âMaybe heâs just bluffing. He wouldnât actually harm you.â
1417 Owen shook his head, haunted by a night ten years ago when Elliot had burst into his study, pressed a gun to his head, and coldly demanded he relinquish control of the Andrews family or face death.
The memory caused Owenâs eyes to redden with rage.
Humiliation!
âSuch humiliation!â Owen exclaimed.
âYou donât understand him,â he added, his voice tinged with both anger and fear.
âHave you secured those items well?â Owen inquired, his tone urgent.
Evan knew exactly what Owen was referring toâthe possessions of Elliotâs mother, which they used as leverage against Elliot.
He nodded reassuringly. âDonât worry, heâll never find them.â
Owen, feeling a momentary relief, clapped a hand on Evanâs shoulder. âFortunately, I still have you, Evan. Once this is resolved, the Andrews family will be yours!â he declared with a sense of finality.
Just then, they were interrupted by a report from outside: Elliot had returned.
âEvan, go upstairs and stay out of sight. Donât let him see you,â Owen directed.
A flash of resentment crossed Evanâs face as he turned to leave.
Both he and Elliot were Owenâs sons, yet while Elliot commanded respect and power, Evan was relegated to the shadows, forced to hide as if he were some dark family secret.
How much longer would he have to endure this?
Climbing the stairs, Evan gripped the railing tightly, his fists clenched as he cast a backward glance at Owen. Owen, seated tensely on the sofa, bristled with barely contained fury. As soon as Elliot entered, he confronted him aggressively. âYou still know how to come back?â Owen sneered.
