Chapter 9
Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love
Chapter 9 She Is Mine In the car...
Corynn was plucking up the courage to explain what just happened when Jason unexpectedly spoke first. âItâs okay, Corynn. You donât have to explain. I did that willingly.â
Corynn subconsciously clenched her fists, feeling that she was being so unfair to Jason.
âOh, come on,â Jason continued with a lighthearted chuckle. As though he read her mind, he added, âDonât feel guilty, Corynn.
Iâm more than happy to play along.â
Corynn sighed. She genuinely couldnât understand what Jason saw in her, the girl who was constantly the subject of rumors and gossip.
Whenever she tried to persuade Jason to get to know other women, heâd always stop her with a reassuring smile.
The rest of the car ride was quiet. As they neared Corynnâs home, Jason suddenly broke the silence. âCorynn, did you run into him at the restaurant? Is that why you were gone for so long?â
Corynn stiffened, wondering how he put two and two together.
Jason smiled knowingly and pointed at his earlobe. âYou have a hickey right there.â
Corynn turned as red as a tomato and looked down, wanting fiercely to defend herself, but upon peering at Jasonâs expression, she decided against giving him false hope.
She eventually nodded in resigation.
Jasonâs smile faded slightly. âCorynn, Elliot isnât right for you. You can be with anyoneâjust not him.â
âI know.â
Jason reached out, intending to tuck a stray hair behind her ear again, but this time, Corynn avoided his touch and hurriedly got out of the car.
Jasonâs smile became a bit strained, but he quietly withdrew his hand without comment. âGet some rest, Corynn.â
âYou too,â Corynn replied in kind. âAnd be careful on the way home, okay?â
When the car pulled out of her sight, Corynn breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone was trying to create opportunities for Jason and her to get closer, but she really wasnât interested in him.
Jason was a wonderful man who deserved someone better than her.
Honestly, as much as she didnât want to disappoint him, feelings couldnât be forced. She felt sincere gratitude toward Jason, but nothing more.

16:39 Chapter 9 She Is Mine Corynn turned around and headed for the front door, but just as she was unlocking it, a hand suddenly held her arm.
She looked up in surprise, but the next second, her expression darkened. âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
Elliot didnât reply, he just stared at her intently. The memory of their earlier encounter tugged painfully at his heartâso much so that, after dropping Amanda off, he had ended up here, almost by instinct.
He was painfully aware that a future with Corynn was impossible. During the day, heâd distract himself with work, but at night, he nearly went crazy from the loneliness.
Once again, instead of answering her question, he questioned her instead. âWho was that man?â he asked in a gruff tone.
âWhy do you care, Elliot? How many times do I have to remind you that weâre over? That weâre done? Weâre adults, Elliot. Youâre the one who said we should part on good terms, remember? Besides, you have a fiancee. Why canât I have a boyfriend?â
Elliot didnât say anything; he simply turned to leave.
Corynn felt relieved, thinking he wouldnât bother her again after todayâs events.
She closed the door and set her bag down in the living room. Just as she was about to go upstairs, there was a knock on the door.
Assuming it was her parents, she opened the door without thinking, only to find Elliot standing there. Her brows furrowed irritably.
âCorynn, we need to talk,â the man said.
âThereâs nothing to talk aboutââ
Her words were cut off as his cool lips claimed hers, taking her by surprise. She froze and fell into a daze, unable to push him away immediately.
The sound of something crashing in the background pulled her back to her senses.
Eyes flashing fiercely, Corynn shoved Elliot away as hard as she could. The next moment, a firm hand grabbed Elliotâs shoulder and pulled him backward, and then a fist connected with Elliotâs face, causing the latter to spit out blood.
Elliot looked up, coldâfaced, to see an angry Jason glaring at him murderously.
A contemptuous smile soon spread across Elliotâs face. âCorynn is mine.â
