Chapter 10
Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love
Chapter 10 What The Hellâs Wrong With You âWhat the hellâs wrong with you, Elliot?â Corynn shoved Elliot away and rushed to Jason without thinking. All the while, she eyed Elliot warily, afraid he might strike.
Jason pulled her behind him protectively.
Seeing this, Elliotâs expression darkened. Corynn had never looked at him like that before, which was painful enough in itself, but her instinct to protect Jason felt like a stab to his heart.
âAre you worried Iâll hurt him?â he sneered.
âYouâd better not lay a finger on him,â Corynn growled back.
Elliot wanted to point out that Jason had hit him first, but he swallowed his words. Instead, he allowed a mocking smile to tug at his lips as he asked smugly, âCorynn, havenât you ever told him you were once mine?â
âThe key word is âonceâ,â Jason butted in, putting his arm out in front of Corynn, shielding her from Elliot. He eyed the latter coldly and continued, âCorynn moved on a long time ago. So, I hope youâll stop pestering my fiancee.â
Elliotâs fleeting satisfaction vanished, replaced by a cold, hostile glare.
Tension crackled in the air as Corynn stood next to Jason, glaring up at Elliot.
âYou have a fiancee, so why canât I? Elliot, you and I ended years ago. Now, youâre not only causing us trouble, but youâre also making a fool out of yourself. Itâs pathetic, really.â
Elliot found it laughable. Corynn dared to accuse him of causing trouble, when it was the man standing beside her that had thrown the first punch. âYou think Iâm causing trouble?â he asked incredulously.
âWho else? I already made it clear that I donât want you. Your persistence is only creating unnecessary problems for us!â
Huh, now she claimed that he was creating âunnecessary problemsâ?
The way Jason and Corynn stood by each otherâs side, protecting each other so fiercely, made Elliot feel like an outsider.
Jasonâs hostile glare only added insult to injury.
He had anticipated Jasonâs hostility.
But Corynnâs reaction was like a stab at his heart.
This was the last thing he wanted to see.

Chapter 10 What The Hellâs Wrong With You Elliot took a step towards Corynn, but the latter watched him warily, as though she was looking at a monster. Feeling defeated, he let out a cold laugh and stormed off. a This time, Corynn only relaxed after Elliotâs car was out of sight, but she was still reeling from the events of tonight.
Feeling uneasy, she asked Jason, âWhyâd you come back?â
Jason didnât answer. He trotted back to his car and pulled out a gift bag from the trunk. âYouâre starting your new job tomorrow, so I had a suit made for you, but forgot to give it to you earlier.â
Corynn was momentarily stunned. She took the bag, and upon peering at the clothes inside, a smile tugged at her lips. âThanks so much, Jason.â
Jason patted her head, glancing briefly in the direction of Elliotâs retreating car. He knew that Corynn couldnât break her habit of expressing gratitude to him, so he didnât press the issue. âGo on and get some rest. Youâll want to wake up brightâeyed and bushyâtailed tomorrow.â
âAlright, drive safely.â
Now that she was finally alone, Corynn finally exhaled in relief.
On her very first day back in the country, she had already encountered Elliot twice. It seemed like future troubles were inevitable.
After washing up and changing into pajamas, Corynn plopped onto her bed, contemplating the dayâs events. If Amanda found out about what happened, she definitely wouldnât let Corynn go.
Corynn couldnât muster any positive feelings for Amanda, haunted by the suspicion that Amanda had been involved in her babyâs loss.
She also found it ironicâhow could Elliot think sheâd still want to be with him just because she once loved him? Didnât he know that a lot of things could have changed in the three years they were apart, including her feelings for him?
