Chapter 15: Mommy Issues
Just Don't Ask {Damijon!}
The coming of nightfall brought darkness that shrouded the skies of Metropolis in an eerie gloom, something far more commonly seen in Gotham.
Jon was fast asleep in his bed, all snug, rolled up in burrito blanket. The blanket was no Damian, not even close to the boy's tight embrace, but it was good enough.. at least until next they meet.
He would have slept all night if it weren't for a handsome young masked (not at all) stranger knocking on his window.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE GOING ALONE?!" Jon practically shouted, not caring the least bit about his neighbours. Luckily his parents were both away.
Damian plugged his ear with a finger, squinting slightly at the boy's sudden outburst.
"TT. Could you keep it down? You're deafening me." Damian said.
"The heck I will!" Jon shot back
"*Hell." Damian corrected
Jon scrunched his nose in irritation and cleared his throat. "THE HELL I WILL LET YOU GO FACE HER ALONE." Jon shouted even louder than before.
Damian squinted before letting out a sigh, he sat down on Jon's bed.
"Look, Jon." He began "the league of assassin's.. they're bad news."
"So what?! I'm literally invulnerable." Jon said, standing in front of Damian, still wearing his Pajamas.
"TT. Basically, Jon." Damian corrected "You're basically invulnerable. But you're still weak to kryptonite, magic and sometimes your powers.. malfunction." Damian reasoned out.
"Dami, I don't care. I'm not letting you go face her alone." Jon wasn't going to back down, not now, not ever. All this time with Damian.. his hard-headedness must be rubbing off on him.
Damian looked up at Jon, the boy of steel staring back at him. He appreciated how much Jon cared about him, but losing his boyfriend? Its a risk he wasn't willing to take.
"TT. Fine, are you sure you want to join me?" Damian asked, rising to his feet.
"Positive." Jon answered.
Damian sighed. "Alright."
Jon's little morphed into his signature toothy grin "Yes! I promise i won't let you down!" Jon exclaimed wrapping Damian in a warm embrace.
"I know you won't Jon" Damian said, enjoying the warmth of Jon's hug. If he could, he'd just ignore his mother's summons and just stay with Jon... being with the boy he fell in love with, but alas.. duty calls.
"I'm just sorry that i'll have to let you down. Just this once." Damian said regrettably.
"What.. what do you-"
*pfffffshk*
Damian sprayed Jon with a bottle of magic-laced knock out gas.
"D-dami.. I think...." Jon let out a yawn. "I think your cologne smells funny.." jon said letting out a giggle.
Damian smiled at the boy collapsing in his arms. "Sorry it had to be this way, beloved." Damian said, tucking his boyfriend in bed. "But I'm just not willing to lose you." Damian said.
Jon, now basically asleep asked Damian. "See you.... see you tomorrow?" Jon asked.
Damian froze in his tracks. He didn't know what to say. He let out a sigh.
"TT. Count on it, Kent." Damian smiled at the boy of his dreams, who smiled back, beaming happiness despite the fact he's about to sleep.
"Y-yaay...!" Jon barely managed to say, letting out a tired yawn. Stretching his arms out, toward the ceiling, he beckoned Damian.
"Hugs?" Damian asked, raising a brow.
"Mhm..!" Jon hummed, blissfully unaware this may be the last time he sees Damian for a very.. very long time.
Damian looked at the boy, and how needlessly adorable he is being, he remembered the day he fell in love with him. But now is not the time for thoughts such as that.
"Well.. considering you'll probably be extremely angry with me once the gas clears up.." damian paused. "I'll take it." Damian said, as he uncharacteristically leapt in Jon's hug. Bombarding the boy's face with kisses, causing the younger boy to burst into laughter.
"Mhm! I'll be furious." Jon said, before burrying his face in the crook or Damian's neck.
Damian froze up, before Jon's gentle humming caused him to relax.
"I have to to now, beloved." Damian spoke, before reluctantly breaking the hug.
"Awww... just five more minutes?" Jon asked.
"I'm sorry, Kent." Damian said, putting on his mask as he made his way to the window.
"I love you...!" Jon called out before sleep finally took him.
Damian looked back at the sleeping figure of hid boyfriend. Letting out a sigh, he began. "I love you too, always and forever." Damian said, before leaping out the window.
***
The midnight moon shined directly overhead a dark clouds gathered over Metropolis, the rain poured hard and the lightning crackled as a hooded figure stood on the highest building of metropolis. Hands resting on his staff, Damian breathed calmly, listening to the slightest sound, any hint it his mother's presence.
"TT. Took you long enough." Damian said, still not opening his eyes. He spoke to his mother, who was a few feet behind him by his estimation.
"Hello, son." Talia began "you really do have to remember to write home more often.. your dear old mother gets.." she paused as she drew a bloody dagger. "..concerned.' she said mockingly.
"TT. What's this about, Talia?" He said, turning to her and narrowing his eyes.
"I am here to reunite with my prodigal son-" she paused "to reclaim him, really. For the league of assassin's."
Damian let out a laugh, crossing hid arms over his chest, his staff standing in front of him.
"And how do you think that's going to go?" Damian asked.
"Don't worry, child. If I can't convince you to come with a mother's love, i'll beat you into submission and have my assassins haul your broken body back to the monastery.
Damian smirked. "TT. Let's see how well this goes for you." Damian immediately leapt forward. A cloud of smoke appearing around him to mask his movements. He ducked and he weaved around the kunai knives his mother was throwing at him.
Appearing from the cloud of smoke he leapt at his mother, landing a fist across her face and kicking her chest with both his legs, he leapt off her.
Talia winced as she clutched her breasts. "Now, is that anyway to treat your mother?"
"Is this anyway to treat your son?" Damian shot back.
Talia smirked "touche" now it was her turn.
She leapt at damian while throwing shurikens and kunais at him, forcing the boy to weave through the projectiles. Damian didn't have enough time to dodge talia's blows so he decided to steel wall them.
Damian blocked every kick, punch, and elbow she threw at him. Defending against every strike before countering with his own.
Striking Talia several times across the face, she backed off.
"Had.. had enough?" Damian asked, clutching his torso, panting.
"I see your training has gone well, son." Talia spat, a hint if sincerity in her voice.
"But sadly, all walls have their shatterpoint. For superman, its kryptonite, for Bruce its his family but for you...?" She smirked, snapping her fingers as two men garbed in all black appeared from the shadows. Hauling over a tied up figure. Damian's eyes went wide with panic when he realized who it was.
"For you? Your shatterpoint is..." she began, drawing a blade from the sheath of one of the men. "Him." She said extending the blade towards Jon, dressed in his full superboy get up.
"You BITCH!" Damian growled, about to pounce his mother before she grazed Jon's arm. Drawing blood. The boy, wincing in pain.
"Ah ah ah..." she said mockingly. "Try anything and your little boyfriend here feels what magical steel feels like."
Damian let down, breathing heavily.
"Let. Him. Go." Damian demanded.
"I don't know, i think he likes being tied up. Lets ask him" she mocked, reaching for the tape over his face, ripping it off violently.
"Dami! I'm sorry... i'm so sorry." Jon teared up.
"Shut it." Talia spat, slamming the hilt of the blade into Jon's diaphragm.
"NO!" Damian shouted "stop!"
He demanded, as Talia kicked him in the groin. "Please..."
"Hrrk.. nnngh... It.. hurts.. Dami.. I'm so so sorry... nnngh...." Jon said, collapsing from the pain, the two men holding him up. A single tear streaming down his face. Damian broke.
"Enough! enough!" Damian begged, dropping his staff as he dropped to his knees. "I'll go with you..."
"Hm." Talia began, walking towards him. "I had really hoped you had more fight in you." She said coldly, before kicking him straight across the face, knocking him out.
"Damian! No!" Jon cried out, trying to break free, the chains glowing with magic as he tried to break them, Talia looking back at him.
"Ah yes, I almost forgot about you."
