Falling Hard

The car slowed as we finally pulled into the camping spot, the headlights cutting through the darkness. Gravel crunched under the tires as my dad parked, and the hum of the engine died down.
We were here.
About damn time.
I turned my head slightly, only to rememberâyeah, Ari was still asleep.
On me.
Lily stirred first, mumbling something in her sleep before her eyes fluttered open. She blinked a few times, dazed, before her gaze landed on meâthen on Ari, still knocked out against my shoulder.
I knew exactly what was coming.
"Zayn?" Her little voice was groggy, but already full of suspicion.
I ignored her.
"Why is she sleeping on you?"
Jenni, of course, perked up at that. I shot her a warning glare, but she just grinned.
Lily shifted, rubbing her eyes before turning toward Ari. "Ari, wake up."
Ari didn't budge.
A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips. Guess she was deeper in sleep than I thought.
Lily tried again, this time shaking Ari's arm. "Wake up! We're here."
Ari groaned softly, her body shiftingâthen, finally, she stirred.
She blinked a few times, her eyes still heavy with sleep. Then she shifted, moving off me slowly, like she didn't even realize where she'd been resting.
I kept my face blank as she sat up, rubbing her eyes.
Thenâboom.
Realization hit.
Her head snapped toward me, eyes widening as she put it all together.
Oh, this was gonna be good.
Her mouth openedâthen closed. Opened again. Her face was a mix of confusion, horror, and something else she was trying real damn hard to hide.
I leaned back against my seat, raising an eyebrow. "Good nap?"
She looked like she wanted to die. Or kill me. Probably both.
"IâI wasn'tâ"
Jenni bit back a laugh from the front row.
Lily, meanwhile, had already moved on, stretching her arms before practically bouncing in her seat. "Let's gooooo! I wanna see the tents!"
Ari, still flustered as hell, fumbled for the door handle like she needed to escape immediately.
I smirked.
