: Chapter 86
The Alpha King’s Heart: The King’s Mate
Wyattâs POV
The anxiousness in the pit of my stomach only grew and I got to my feet.
âWhat is it?â Jett asked,
âSomething is wrong with my mate,â I said breathlessly, dialing her number again.
âWyatt, calm down, and why do you think so?â Aspen asked.
âI can just feel in my chest, contact the airstrip,â Aspen immediately punched numbers to call them while I continued calling my mate. When she didnât answer, I tried mind-linking my brother but it wasnât going through.
âWyatt, they were coming by road because the plane wasnât ready for them,â Aspen informed me and I immediately left the room. I needed to follow them, there was only one route to coming here.
I got in my car and my men jumped in too, but we were met with a block in front of us. I groaned in frustration and got out of the car.
âWhat the fuck is your problem?!â I shouted. I was pissed at Rachel.
âWhere are you going? You know we have an appointment at the hospital right?â Rachel asked and I was doing all I can not to strangle her and kill my child along with her. I growled in her face.
âIâm busy,â I gritted my teeth.
âKing Wyatt! whatâs more important-â I was going back to my car before she could finish complaining. I honked at her to move out of the way but she stood there stubbornly.
âSomeone get her out of the way before hit her with my car,â I growled and Jett jumped out, carrying Rachel away and I drove past them. I stopped when I reached the outer border and Jett joined us.
âShould we just run from here?â Aspen asked.
âNo, weâll still need the car when coming back,â Jett said. I nodded and drove down the tarmac. I was apprehensive, hoping that nothing bad happened to her. My hand was gripping the steering wheel tightly as I sped.
âTry to call her again, Aspen,â I said.
âStill no response,â
âWhat the fuck, I better be wrong,â I murmured.
âMaybe they took a detour and lost their phones?â Jett asked. I glared at him through the mirror and he shrugged.
âThe airport said they left eight hours ago, and they should have been in the pack five hours ago,â Aspen said.
They started bickering as usual and were getting on my nerves.
âShut the fuck up both of you!â I growled, releasing my alpha aura and they obliged.
We had been driving for almost an hour and only stopped when we saw an SUV, it was turned upside down and smoke was coming out of it.
I jumped out of my car and inspected the SUV, my mate was not there. I let out a sigh of relief, happy that she is alright but I was wrong when I picked out strange scents.
âDark wolves,â Jett growled.
âThey were here,â Aspen grumbled.
âDid they take the Luna and Azriel?â
âThat man, Iâm sure he did,â I was sure, that fucking dark wolf was following my mate around, they must have known that she is my mate and want to use that to their advantage. I growled and started to search.
âLetâs separate, and follow the scents,â
I noticed that different scents were leading in different directions.
I mind-linked some of my trackers to come here and help us with the search as it was getting dark now.
Adiraâs POV
I was surprised when Corey said heâll help us escape, â Why would you do that?â Azriel asked suspiciously.
âSheâs my family?â he put a finger at me.
âBullshit,â
âFine, I never did care for family but I want to be in someoneâs good books, hopefully, this helps,â he smirked, Corey looked more handsome and I instantly knew the person he meant. It was Jett, he was in love with the kingâs gamma.
âWho?â Azriel asked.
âJett,â I answered. Corey seemed surprised that I knew that.
âWas he the one who released you last time you were in custody?â Azriel growled.
âNot intentional, I tricked him,â
âWell, heâs in big trouble,â
âNo, you canât tell anyone heâs the reason I escaped,â he was concerned, and his eyes flashed purple like mine do when Iâm angry.
âYou love him,â I pouted, and he scowled. Corey didnât say a word, just running a hand through his lovely white hair.
âNo, I donât like owing favors and helping you would be repaying it,â Corey was trying to conceive himself that, but his thumping heart at the mention of Jett said otherwise.
âAre you Zionâs right hand?â Azriel suddenly asked.
âNo, I have no connection to the dark wolves. Zion is ambitious and will do anything for power while I like to be free of obligations, â
âHow far can Zion go?â I asked, dreading his reply.
âForce mating and marking you as his Luna for power,â he said and my heart pounded in my chest. I slumped on the bed and raise my fingers to touch my neck. A growl escaped Azrielâs throat.
âHeâs fucking sick, sheâs his niece,â Azriel barked.
âYes, heâs just like his father, and marking Adira will guarantee him power especially now with her rare abilities and sheâs heir to a pack,â Corey sighed.
âI wouldnât allow him to do that to me,â I said.
âYou will have no choice and besides, he has a sorcery by his side,â Corey shrugged.
âWhy are you telling us all this? Arenât you on his side at least?â I asked and he grinned.
âIâm on no oneâs side. Iâm as selfish as they come. I put myself before anyone, and Iâm only hanging out here because Iâm bored⦠Did you notice how much I use the word Iâm,â he said and went towards the door, â In two hours, Iâll come to find you,â he said, exiting the room. I sighed and placed my head on Azrielâs arm. He raised his hand and gently stroked my hair, he was trying to calm down for my sake but I could feel his anger rolling off him as his chest rose and fell.
âRest, Iâll wake you in a few hours okay? â he said gently and I nodded, lying on the bed and he covered my body with a sheet.
âYouâre so good to me, thank you,â I smiled at him and squeezed his hand, he wanted to say something but didnât. My eyes closed just as the door quietly opened and closed.
