Chapter 4

Hey Sweetheart

Sameera was sitting in ther college cafeteria with Raj, Shristi and Jay when Maaya came with Shrey.

Due to instinct she peeked for Shrithik.

Shrey was there so Shrithik should also be.

"Hey sweetheart, searching for me?"

His voice came from behind her as a whisper and she took a sharp intake of breath. She turned around and glared at him for scaring her. But she shook her head no. This caused him to smirk.

He rolled his eyes and sat beside her. Shrey introduced himself to everyone.

"Come on. Why are you standing. Sit down."

Raj said to them.

Shrey sat at a free chair and and Maaya was going to sit at the chair, Shrithik was sitting on because she couldn't see her.

"Wait. Don't sit there."

Sameera said stopping Maaya mid-air.

"Why?"

"Um sit with Shrey. He must be feeling a little out of place. He is your friend right? Right Shrey?"

She looked at Shrey intensely, asking him to understand that Shrithik was sitting there.

He raised his brows and then the thing struck him.

"Yes! I mean yes. You can sit beside me."

Maaya nodded and sat at the chair next to Shrey. Shrithik who was holding his breath, released it. Maaya was just an inch away from sitting on his lap.

Sameera smirked at him and this time he glared. Her smirk widened and Shrithik took a piece of sandwich from her plate.

She looked at him wondering if her friends could see a piece of sandwich flying in air. But then she remembered about the

'conduction of his invisibility.'

That sandwich was so tasty that he almost moaned.

"Sweetheart?"

Sameera who was busy chatting ignored him.

"Sweetheart? It's important."

Sameera sighed and looked at him.

"What?" She whispered.

"This sandwich is so tasty. Who made it?"

"Why?"

"I want recipe. Now tell me who made it?"

"Shrishti. That girl beside Raj. Now shut up."

Shrithik looked at that girl. She was beautiful. Just his type. Brown hairs. Light brown eyes. Pink lips. A polite nature and she was wearing girly clothes with very less makeup.

But he frowned remembering HE IS INVISIBLE. He glided his hands through his hair.

Now you cannot even talk to your crush. He was not a playboy back then. But he was definitely a charmer. Most girls of his college had a crush on him. And now?

Leave it.

He looked up to find Sameera smirking at him. Then she glanced at Shristi and back at him and suggestively shook her head.

He glared at her and she laughed. It's kind of her speciality to tease people.

"Why are you laughing?" Raj asked and she shook her head.

"Oh, tell me." He said leaning in and Sameera copied.

"I just saw your face." Raj's expression fell and everybody else laughed. He flicked her forehead playfully.

"Guys I should go. It was nice meeting you."

Shrey said and Maaya's face immediately fell. She wanted to ask him where he was going but it was none of her buisness. She also like everyone else smiled and waved him goodbye. Sameera noticed a change in her behaviour. She leaned in towards Shrithik and whispered

"Shrey is going to that stationary shop for work, right?"

Shrithik looked at her and nodded. He was just a second away from asking why when she moved to other side towards Maaya and whispered

"Don't worry, he's not going after some girl. Just work."

Maaya looked at her and raised her eyebrows questioning how did she know.

"He lives near my house. I've seen him many times and I definitely don't like him that way."

Maaya's heart swelled. She didn't know if it was because he was not going after some girl or that Sameera was not romantically intrested in him. But she felt happy.

She flashed a smile and resumed talking.

Sameera was not talking but listening every thing attentively. Saying something time to time and laughing.

Her laugh was different from others. Not that bad kind of. She vibrated when laughed. It was really funny and Shrithik couldn't help but smile.

"It's time to go." Shrishti announced. Shrithik who was zoned out looking at Sameera's face, startled. He totally forgot about his new crush.

He looked at her and sighed. It was impossible to woo her when she cannot see him. And he didn't know she had a heart stong enough to handle a voice of person she cannot see.

Plan cancelled.

"Yeah, I also have some work to do." Raj added. Everybody nodded and waved each other bye.

Sameera got up and started leaving. Shrithik got up and followed her.

"Don't follow me Invisible." Sameera stated looking straight ahead.

"Sorry sweetheart, not gonna happen."

She sighed. It looked like he was not gonna spare her.

They reached her apartment and he was still following her. She sighed.

"You know you should not follow me everywhere. Go to Shrey. He must be feeling lonely."

He shook his head no and entered her apartment taking everything in. Last time when he came he didn't see it properly.

There was nothing special. It was a two bedroom modern apartment. He made himself home and took the TV remote. Sameera gaped at him. He was sitting there changing channels and munching on a chocolate.

"Don't you think you are going a little too fast?"

"How?"

"We've known each other for maximum four days and here you are sitting on my sofa, eating my choclate and watching TV.

You should slow down, man. It's harmful for your health."

Shrithik scoffed.

"Don't you even talk about it. You literally wanted me naked, do you understand without any clothes. On our second meeting."

Sameera's eyes widened. She blushed embarrassed.

"I...I.. didn't say anything like that. O..okay. make yourself home." She lifted her gaze to find him doing exactly that. She sighed.

She went in kitchen and brought two fruit juices. And threw one at him, without warning. And to her surprise he catched it.

"It's hard to surprise me sweetheart."

She rolled her eyes st him and he watched her disappear in one of the rooms. Five minutes later she came out in different clothes with a textbook and notebook.

She sat on the sofa next to him and started studying. He looked at her.

"Shouldn't you be like studying in your room, on your study table instead of here, in front of TV."

She looked up at him and then replied.

"I don't know if I can trust you. Sure you look decent, but don't judge a book by it's cover."

Shrithik felt sad. But he understood that it was the most rationall thing anybody could do so he nodded.

Ten minutes later Sameera groaned loudly, causing Shrithik's neck to jerk her direction.

"What happened?"

"I can't solve this problem. I've tried many times, asked everyone in my class, but couldn't. I'll just rip this book when I graduate." She gritted her teeth.

"Show me." He said. Sameera looked at him. Will he be able to solve it.  What was his education?

She passed it to him and he scoffed.

"It's easy. Just substitute it with the second one then subtract the third one and you have your answer."

Sameera got up and stood behind him peeking to what he was writing. Because she was sure, that she was doing the same.

Then it dawned upon her that she was doing steps in wrong order. She looked at his writing. It was slight cursive and his words were tamed.

He passed her notebook to her and she looked up at him.

"What's your education?"

Shrithik smirked.

"Gandhi Medical College, college topper, MBBS, M.D two semester, topper."

Sameera gasped. He was a college topper. A doctor.

"If I would have been visible for one more year, I could have completed my medicine course. I would have been a doctor officially."

Sameera could hear his sadness clearly. It was his dream to do a medicine course. To become a doctor. But his curse, it ruined it all.

He turned to her and continued

"You know, during my internship at hospital, I once performed a heart surgery. During my internship. I was not a cardiac surgeon. Hell, I was not even a surgeon, not a doctor with degree. Yet, I performed that surgery and you know what? I saved that person's life."

He looked into her eyes intensely. He felt she was looking directly into his soul. She felt all the pain in his words, in his heart, in his soul.

"I remember that lady's daughter hugging me. Thanking me. I remember that lady's mother, touching my face, giving me blessings."

Shrithik shook his head to get those thoughts out of his head.

"Um... don't you think it's a bit to early to have a heart to heart?"

Shrithik laughed at her. Without even knowing, she lightened the whole situation.

"I think you are right."

"Well, because I am right."

They both laughed. Their laughing was interrupted by Sameera's phone.

An unknown number was calling her. She picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Sameera?"

"Um, yeah. And who are you?"

"I am Shrey. Is Shrithik with you?"

Sameera looked at him and nodded.

"Yeah he is. Do you need me give him the phone?"

"Yes."

Sameera moved towards Shrithik and gave him the phone.

"Hello?"

"You bastard. Do you know how worried I was? It's 11p.m. And where is your phone? I called you many times, but no response. I thought you left or were going to do something stupid. Get back home right now. If you will not be home in fifteen minutes, get ready to DIE!!"

And with this Shrey hung up. Shrithik stared at Sameera's phone. Sometimes he forgets how motherly Shrey can get.

His trance was broken by the sound of someone trying to control their laughter.

Sameera was trying so hard to not laugh.

Shrithik looked like a badboy who didn't take anybody's shit. But here he was getting scolded by Shrey for not being home at the right time.

"Why are you laughing? There's nothing to laugh."

And all the trying went in the drain. She burst out. Only thing she can't control is laughing.

She laughed, hard. Clutching her stomach and stumbling.

"Oh, baby boy. Go home. Otherwise, your mama is gonna beat your ass. Go."

She spoke mockingly. He once again glared at her and started making his way out, but was stopped by her voice.

"Hey, do you want me to walk you home? I hope you can go by yourself safely?"

She was smiling hard and he glared.

"Thanks for the offer, but I don't want everybody in my way to have a heart attack seeing your face."

She fake gasped and stuck her tounge out.

"At least mine is better than yours."

It was his turn to gasp. He pointed at his face.

"Do you think, I don't look good? Girls in my era, died to just get a look at me. And you know how cute I am?"

He made puppy dog eyes and placed both his hands on his cheeks. Actually looking cute but more than that funny.

And because of it she giggled.

"Go to your home-old man. Your mama is still waiting to beat your ass."

She giggled once again.

Realisation dawned upon his face and he ran. Sameera also ran towards the balcony. After a minute or two Shrithik became visible.

"Old man!" She shouted and along with him many old men looked at her. But her gazed was fixed on him.

She showed him a thumbs up.

"Best of luck." And he once again started walking ignoring her mocking.

Other old men looked at her weirdly and she remembered that he was Invisible.

She quickly disappeared from there into her house.

From what she can tell now, it is that Shrithik isn't any harm.

But now she is way to sleepy to stay up and think about him.
